Even though Nokia is announcing a bunch of items and devices at Nokia World at this very moment, they have gone out to mention that they will not be attending MWC 2010. Nokia mentioned that they "can't support the expenses of attending the large Barcelona trade show" because of their "direct marketing." Maybe they'll crash the party by announcing new phones with or without MWC. I think it's a dumb idea Nokia, you better change your minds.

At Nokia World, Nokia, of course, announced new handsets. This morning they announced the Nokia X3 and Nokia X6. First up we have the X3. The X3 is a clamshell handset has: a 2.2-inch display, a 3.2MP camera, integrated Stereo speakers, an FM radio, dedicated music keys, a microSD card slot, and runs S40. The X3 will be available in Q4 of this year for €115 ($164 USD).

I believe the Nokia X6 is the "Alvin" that we saw pass the FCC two days ago. The Nokia X6 is the high-end handset of the two and has: a 3.2-inch capacitive touchscreen display with a 16:9 aspect ratio, a 5MP camera, 32GB of internal storage, Lifecasting (check out what that is here), Ovi Store integration, S60 5th Edition, and a battery long enough to last 16 days of standby time / 35 hours of music playback. The X6 will be available in Q4 of this year for €459 ($654 USD).

At Nokia World, Nokia showed off the Nokia N810 tablet with 3D capabilities. Thankfully, you'll be able to see the 3D effect without glasses. Nokia will launch this 3D technology on a mobile phone in the future, but it won't be the N810 - they're just showing off the technology. Apparently, Nokia "has been working on 3D phones for 'several years.'"

We've already heard about the Nokia Booklet 3G and it was already made official even before Nokia World kicked off. The two things we didn't officially know were the price and release date. Well, Nokia has mentioned that it will be available by the end of this year for €575 ($817 USD). The one thing they didn't specify is where they will be releasing it, so that price tag is before subsidies. It's damn sexy, but I don't think it's worth $817 USD. Yes, USA will be getting both the Booklet 3G and even the N900.

We've already heard about the Nokia N97 Mini and we've already seen it reviewed, which wasn't a good look for Nokia. Anyways, it's now official. At Nokia World today, Nokia announced that the N97 Mini be available for free in "many markets" this October and will include: a slide-out QWERTY keyboard, a 3.2-inch resistive touchscreen display, built-in Lonely Planet guidebooks aka GPS, and Facebook "Lifecasting." We heard that a high-end Maemo-based smartphone will be unveiled at Nokia World 2009 this year and people are guessing that it could be the Nokia N920 - but it could be a bit too early for that. This smartphone is expected to be higher-end than the recently announced Nokia N900 Maemo-based smartphone and the Nokia N97, so what could it be? We don't know, but maybe it'll be this smartphone.

This is the Nokia Alvin and it has just passed the FCC with: 32GB of internal memory, tri-band WCDMA / quad-band GSM connectivity, Bluetooth / WiFi support, and a 1,320 mAh battery. These features match the N900, but it seems a bit too thin to be the N900. I'm sure we'll see it announced at Nokia World this year. I'm excited.

This means that the Nokia N900 Maemo OS tablet will have AT&T / Rogers 3G capabilities - in the future, that is. As of right now, it's confirmed to be capable of running on T-Mobile, but the AT&T / Rogers-capable Nokia N900 announcement will be coming, maybe at Nokia World or something. Just wait for it.

So much for waiting until Nokia World. Nokia has just announced the Nokia N900. This is Nokia's first device running Maemo 5 and, yes, it has both internet and phone capabilities. I'm calling it a smartphone. This is definitely Nokia's best smartphone to-date - beating out the N97. This handset is confirmed to have: a 3.5-inch WVGA resistive touchscreen display with a 480 x 800 resolution, a slide-out QWERTY keyboard, quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE / WCDMA 900/1700/2100 bands, an ARM Cortex A8 CPU, 32GB of internal memory, a microSDHC card slot, a 5MP AF camera with a dual-LED flash, a Carl Zeiss lens and a cover, an FM transmitter, and WiFi / GPS support.

The Nokia N900 will be hitting "select markets" in October for €500 ($713 USD). Remember it's compatible for T-Mobile USA, so it could get a launch on there in a couple of months. Look out for more information from Nokia next week and, in the meantime, you can enjoy the two videos below.

This is completely just a rumour. Apparently, Nokia is looking to officially announce a high-end smartphone running Maemo at Nokia World next week. This is definitely different because we have yet to see any leaks of a future high-end Nokia smartphone - since the N97 Mini is not exactly "high-end."

This would also bring in the rumours that Nokia will be replacing Symbian with Maemo.Fortunately for some, it looks like Symbian will be reserved for the low to mid-end smartphones and Maemo will be reserved for their high-end smartphones since it's more flexible - that is, if these rumours are true. Could they really be announcing the Nokia N920? We'll see.

Back in mid-July, we heard that Nokia could be launching a new X Series - and C Series. This announcement is expected to be, well, announced at Nokia World next week. The latest rumour suggests that the X Series will be replace the XpressMusic brand, which isn't exactly impossible. There are actually a lot of rumours floating around right now, especially one about a Nokia N920 - somewhat a successor to the still unannounced Nokia N900 tablet. The Nokia N900 / RX51 / Rover internet tablet has just posed for some press shots. This smartphone / MID device has been seen many times and is probably going to be officially unveiled by Nokia next week at Nokia World. We'll probably see their sexy netbook there too.

It was just a couple of days ago when Nokia confirmed that they are definitely "looking" to enter the netbook market and it's been months since we've heard rumours about a Nokia netbook. Today, it's official! Nokia has unveiled the Booklet 3G, it has: a 10.1-inch display, an Intel Atom CPU, integrated 3G, a SIM card slot, aGPS support, HDMI output, Bluetooth / WiFi support, and a battery long enough to reportedly last 12 hours. The design definitely looks pretty nice. It weighs 2.75 pounds, it's just 2cm thick, and I'm loving the chiclet keyboard layout - don't forget it's aluminum body. It's like Apple helped them design this thing. This is sexy.

It looks like it will be available this year because it is running Windows 7 in the video below - hopefully there'll be an Intel Moblin OS option. This netbook will be officially unveiled on September 2nd by Nokia themselves - y'know Nokia World.

An incomplete FCC filing has just outlined what appears to be the Nokia N97 Mini. At the time, this handset has been unconfirmed to be the N97 Mini, so we'll just have to wait until more information pops up. I believe that it is the N97 Mini though. It's got a camera in the same location as the N97, but this time without the camera lens cover. We'll definitely see an announcement at this year's Nokia World.

This photo shows a bunch of Nokia handsets; we know some of them, but not all of them. Clearly, the Nokia N97 Mini is in the photo and so is what looks to be the Nokia E72 and the Nokia E55. There's also a handset (below) that looks similar to the 5800 XpressMusic but it actually has a silver chrome outline - similar to what the iPhone has. The handsets at the top of the screen look to be a bunch of mid-end Nokia handsets that we should probably see Nokia announce at this year's Nokia World. Last week, we got our first look at the possible Nokia N97 Mini. Well, now it looks like it's a real device and Nokia will officially announce it at Nokia World 2009, which will take place in Stuttgart on September 2 - 3. The good thing is that today, we have the specs on this baby. The Nokia N97 Mini is basically a smaller replica of the original N97, so the specs really haven't change. The only spec changes here is the smaller 2.9-inch display and the on-board storage space, it's been reduced to 8 / 16GB. The point of this new N97 Mini is to make it more portable and, of course, to shrink the large price tag of the original model. It's expected to launch about €100 ($144 USD) cheaper than it's larger sibling. We don't know when it will launch, but it'll be sometime after September 3.

Nokia already has their N-series and E-series mobile phones out there, but it looks like they're planning to expand their line-up with a new series called the C-series. On April 14, Nokia filed a patent for "Cseries." At this point, no one knows what this line-up could consist of - but it could be just about anything you can think of. It could be a new series for their future: Android-based handsets, netbooks, Symbian 2 handsets, "Linux/Maemo based smart devices", or even mobile phones utilizing Synaptics capacitive multi-touchscreen displays. Basically, anything is possible at this point.

My speculating may not be too accurate, but I'm sure Nokia will spill their guts on this new "Cseries" at this year's Nokia World 2009, set to take place this September.

Update on July 19th: According to The Symbian Blog, Nokia looks like they could also be launching a new Xseries as well. We still don't know what either of these series' will contain, but let's hope that we see some new devices in September at Nokia World. Click on the picture below to enlarge it, if you'd like.

According to the Guardian, Nokia will reveal their first Android-based touchscreen handset this year at Nokia World, which will take place in September. Nokia is constantly going downhill and losing market share, so it looks like they're going to test out the Android waters - or circuits. Nokia has a lot to do in the future to keep their number 1 status because the underdogs are making a comeback. They've got to upgrade S60 or go with Maemo. We'll all just have to see what's in store for Nokia's future.

Update: According to Slash Gear, Nokia has denied any future plans of a touchscreen Android-based handset. The spokesperson said "everyone knows that Symbian is our preferred platform for advanced mobile devices." Well if it is Nokia, then maybe you should improve it and show us a new version at this year's Nokia World. Please and thank you.

It's more than likely, I mean that's a ton of time for Nokia to get off their butts and wake up. According to this report, Nokia and Carl Zeiss have both confirmed the plans of releasing a 12MP cameraphone in 2010. This phone is expected to be revealed at next year's Mobile World Congress (MWC) and is also expected to have the same form-factor as the Nokia N86. Big names like Samsung (Pixon12 / M8920) and LG are expected to release their own 12MP cameraphones this year - heck even Sony Ericsson have the Satio. Nokia, wake up! It's what the fans want, even though megapixels aren't everything.

There is already 2 versions of this phone: the Nokia E71 and the E71x. It looks like you can add another version, the Nokia E71i, to the mix as well. The E71i will, of course, be an upgrade to the earlier versions. It will sport a 5MP camera and a slew of other upgrades. One upgrade - other than the camera - is known for sure, which is a new colour called mocha brown (pictured). The QWERTY keypad smartphone will also be powered by Symbian S60 FP2, which is another upgrade. If the rumours are correct, everyone should see this phone revealed at Nokia World, which takes place this September / October.
