Labels: , , ,

It looks like Fido in Canada has released their latest Android handset. Yes, the Samsung Galaxy Q is now available on the carrier for $100 on a 2-year contract and just $275 contract-free which are actually pretty darn good prices. Looks like Fido in Canada is set to release a bunch of new Android phones in the future. As you can see, it'll be the Sony Ericsson XPERIA Pro, the LG Optimus 2X, and the Samsung Galaxy Q. The XPERIA Pro features a 3.7-inch WVGA display, a slide-out QWERTY keyboard, a 1GHz CPU, and an 8MP camera. The Optimus 2X packs a 4-inch display, a dual-core 1GHz CPU, an 8MP camera, a front-facing camera, and could actually be available in a few days. Last, but not least, there's the Galaxy Q. The picture confirms that it won't be a behemoth of a phone. Instead it features a 3.2-inch display, a slide-out QWERTY keyboard, and Android 2.2.

Mid-End Samsung Galaxy Q To Hit Rogers Soon

Labels: , , , , , ,

Mobile Syrup has just mentioned that Rogers will be launching a new Samsung Android phone for the back to school season this year. It's said to be the Galaxy Q but not the 5.3-inch superphone that's being rumoured. Apparently the Galaxy Q on Rogers will be a mid-end handset with a 3.2-inch display along with a slide-out QWERTY keyboard. It's said to be a part of Rogers' upcoming Smartphone Lite package so look out for this one next month.

Samsung To Unveil 5.3-Inch Galaxy Q At IFA This Year

Labels: , , , , , ,

Although the picture you see above is the Samsung Infuse 4G, apparently the company has a larger smartphone in the works. Yahoo News Korea is reporting that Samsung will be unveiling the Galaxy Q at IFA 2011 this September. This large smartphone is said to pack a whopping 5.3-inch display, 3G WCDMA / 4G LTE support, and the Android OS, obviously. The display type is unknown right now but it could be a Super AMOLED+ with an unknown resolution. Either way, it's a bit too large for me to handle.

This smartphone was actually mentioned last year by the Korea Times as well but it was said to be a much different phone. Last year's rumours said that the Galaxy Q would be similar to a BlackBerry on steroids but that doesn't appear to be the case anymore.

Samsung Galaxy Q To Be a BlackBerry On Steroids (With Froyo)? Supposed Spec Sheet Leaks Out

Labels: , , , ,

Apparently, the Samsung Galaxy Q's whole spec sheet has leaked out - that's the picture you're seeing above. The Galaxy Q (which we heard about back in June) is supposed to take the BlackBerry head-on with the Android OS and if the rumoured spec sheet is true then it will do just that. The Galaxy Q is expected to feature a 3-inch Super AMOLED multitouch display with a 480 x 720 resolution, a 1GHz Hummingbird CPU, an 8MP camera with an LED flash and 720p HD video recording, a 1.3MP front-facing camera, a QWERTY keyboard, Bluetooth 3.0 / WiFi 802.11n support, a mini HDMI port, 16GB of internal storage, a microSD card slot, quad-band GSM / tri-band 3G connectivity, an optical trackpad, and a 1,500mAh battery. Of course, this is also expected to run Android 2.2 "Froyo" which is great news. This is looking like it could be a great handset but let's not judge until we see the official statement from Samsung and a picture of it.

Samsung Galaxy Q To Sport BlackBerry Form Factor, But With Android

Labels: , , , , , ,

According to Korea Times, Samsung is looking to launch something that some people could be interested in. Apparently, the company is working on the Galaxy Q which will sport a similar styling to a BlackBerry but it'll be running Android instead. It'll feature a QWERTY keyboard along with a touchscreen display. If the rumours are true this handset will be hitting some carriers in the US by the end of the year - they're reportedly in talks with AT&T and Verizon. Let's see if this becomes true.
