If you're interested in a 7-inch netbook running Google's Android OS then you could do it yourself or you could check out what NEC just announced. What you see above is the NEC LifeTouch Note. This netbook packs a WVGA (480 x 800 resolution) resistive touchscreen display, a 2MP camera, and version 2.2 of the OS. There'll be three models of this netbook: 3G / WiFi with 8GB of storage, WiFi-only with 4GB of storage, and WiFi-only with 8GB of storage. Furthermore, this netbook reportedly has access to the Android Market and will be available in Japan soon for somewhere around ¥45,000.

NEC is another company that is looking to release an Android tablet later this year. Dubbed the LifeTouch, this tablet will feature a 7-inch LCD touchscreen display with a 480 x 800 resolution, an ARM Cortex A8 CPU, 256MB of RAM, WiFi b/g / Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR support, a 3MP camera, GPS, a microphone, stereo speakers, an SD/SDHC card slot, two USB ports, an 8-hour battery life, and Android 2.1. The price and release date is still unknown right now but this seems to be the first model that NEC will offer.

We first heard about this over a month ago and NEC has officially announced it as the Valuestar N VN790/BS. Awkward name, I know, but this all in one PC has some unique and interesting features. The display itself sports a 1,600 x 900 resolution and has 3D capabilities but you can turn it off whenever you feel like. On the side, you'll find a Blu-ray player to satisfy your needs. Inside you'll find an Intel Mobile Core 2010 CPU, 4GB of RAM (up to 8GB), a 1TB HDD, an integrated TV tuner, and Windows 7 Home Premium. Inside the box, NEC is nice enough to give you a pair of 3D glasses, but another pair will cost you an extra $67. They also throw in a remote control and a wireless keyboard.

This all in one PC is expected to make its debut in Japan next month (June) for the equivalent of $2,450. So much for 3D not being a premium - that better be a Core i7 CPU in there.

NEC has just announced their MultiSync PA271W which is another one of their 27-inch monitors. It sports an IPS panel with a 2,560 x 1,440 resolution, a 1,000:1 contrast ratio, 300 nits of brightness, DisplayPort / two DVI-D / five USB ports, and a gray-to-gray response time of 7ms. It's pretty interesting that the monitor itself has Picture-in-Picture (PIP) mode so that you can see two different video signals at once. This will be available sometime in May (this month) for $1,399.

NEC looks like they have just updated their LaVie Light netbook so it's better than most netbooks out there. It's now sporting an Intel Atom N470 1.83GHz CPU, 2GB of RAM, a 320GB HDD, integrated WiMAX connectivity, an SDXC card slot, and Windows 7 (possibly Home Premium). Sadly, it's expensive since it's priced at ¥70,000 ($761 USD) in Japan and it won't be hitting the US.

NEC has just announced yet another one of their LCD TVs since they're slowly replacing their current line of TVs. This one will be named the V321, which will sport a 32-inch display with just a 1,366 x 768 resolution along with a 3,000:1 contrast ratio and 450 nits of brightness. Of course, it's got several ports including HDMI, DVI-D, composite, S-Video, and 15-pin D-sub. This TV will be available later this month for $649.

NEC has just unveiled yet another one of their huge LCD displays. This one's being called the P521 and it's packing a 52-inch display with a Full HD (1,920 x 1,080) resolution, a 2,000:1 contrast ratio, 700 nits of brightness, VGA / DVI-D / BNC / composite / component / S-Video / HDMI ports, a DisplayPort, and an Ethernet port. This big screen will be available later this month for just about $3,000.

What you above appears to be an NEC tablet running on Google's Android OS. This tablet supposedly has a 7 to 8-inch touchscreen display and the company has mentioned that they plan to sell around 100,000 - 200,000 units when it initially launches. The release details and full spec sheet hasn't been announced yet, but I'm sure we'll hear them over the next couple of weeks. This is expected to launch in Japan.

NEC has just announced their latest 19-inch LCD monitor which is targeted for business people. The MultiSync EA190M has: a 1,280 x 1,024 resolution, 250 nits of brightness, a 900:1 contrast ratio, a 5ms response time, DVI / VGA input, built-in speakers, and a 3.5mm headphone jack.

This monitor should suck an average of 50% less energy and also contains 50% less mercury "than traditional LCD monitors." The EA190M has a "one-touch ECO mode that allows users the ability to quickly maneuver between two energy saving modes." Clearly, this monitor is somewhat eco-friendly, which is not a bad thing to have. This monitor is expected to ship by the end of this month and it should be available for $259 USD.

NEC's latest LCD monitor offering has support for a DisplayPort. The MultiSync EA231WMi has: a 23-inch display with a 1,920 x 1,080 resolution, built-in stereo speakers, a 3,000:1 dynamic contract ratio, VGA / DVI / DisplayPort input, four USB 2.0 ports, and can also rotate into portrait mode. This monitor will launch later this month for $379 USD.

"NEC, the third-largest Japanese phone manufacturer, plans to re-launch its handsets outside Japan, as early as 2010." This is probably due to the fact that NEC demand in Japan dropped 29% over the past year. Reuters have mentioned that launching phones in Europe could be a possibility for NEC and their goal is to sell 1 million handsets outside of Japan for an average of $300 each.

This is the NEC CRV43 and it's 43-inches of curviness. This LCD TV has: a 43-inch display with a 2,880 x 900 resolution, a 32:10 aspect ratio, 200 nits of brightness, a 10,000: 1 contrast ratio, a 0.02ms response time (dubbed "Rapid Response"), covers 99.3% Adobe RGB color gamut, at least one USB 2.0 slot, and DVI-D / HDMI 1.3 connectivity. This display will go on sale starting this July for a whopping $7,999 USD - which is much higher than the expected $6,500 USD price tag that was unveiled at CES.

Yes, you read that title right, but I'll talk about that later. The NEC Versa Pro J UltraLite Type VS netbook has: a 10-inch display, an Atom 1.86GHz CPU, Intel's GMA500 graphics, a 64GB SSD, and will run Windows Vista - instead of the traditional Windows XP. It weighs just 1.65 pounds and measures in at 0.62-inches thick! If you look at the picture above though, there is no trackpad, so the little rubbery ball is going to have to do. This netbook is scheduled for a July release date in Japan. Apparently, it will launch with a $1,000 USD price tag, but it will spike up to $1,800 USD afterwards for just about no reason.

Besides the long name, NEC has updated their 24-inch LCD display. The LCD2490WUXi2 has a new "12-bit color lookup table for making the visible gamut much improved. Color brightness has also been significantly enhanced with 320cd/m2 brightness and a 1,000:1 static contrast ratio." This monitor has VGA and "DVI that's HDCP-encrypted" - basically meaning that it can play those downloaded iTunes movies.

This monitor will be available in Japan starting on June 3rd for around $1,431 USD. No word on the US pricing and release date yet though.

NEC is not a widely known PC company, but it doesn't really matter because they are going to stop selling their PCs anywhere outside of Japan soon. For the South East Asian countries, they will be shutting production and sales "as early as this July." NEC is really going downhill; they are expecting a $3 billion loss this current fiscal year. They sold 3 million PCs last year; meanwhile, 2.5 million of those PCs sold in Japan. NEC is planning on laying off 20,000 workers soon, thanks economic crisis. On a side note, I've never had a job before.

So, Macworld was earlier today and it's already finished. I didn't get to watch it, since it was live while i was at school, but i read some information about it. It seems to me that this was the most interesting news that was said during the keynote. As the title of the blog post says, this notebook will have a screen measuring 17 inches. This MacBook Pro will be available at the end of this month. It will be under an inch thick and will weigh about 6.6 pounds. Apple claims that this is the "thinnest and lightest 17' notebook on the market." The battery life has incredibly improved since it's last model, although it is non-removable. This battery will last you "7 hours with discrete graphics, 8 hours with integrated graphics." and will last around 1000 recharges. Apparently, this is 3 times more than the average notebook. The screen will have a resolution of 1920x1200 and will have "an impressive 700:1 contrast ratio and 60% greater color gamut than the last 17-inch display. There is an optional anti-glare coating that you can add on for another $50 USD. As you may have noticed, i haven't mentioned the base price of the system yet. But, i think now would be a good time. Actually, no, not after some more specifications. This notebook will have a 2.66 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 4 GB 1066 MHz DDR3 memory, a 320 GB hard drive and your choice of either the Nvidia GeForce 9400M or the Nvidia GeForce 9600M GT. Finally, the price? A whopping, $2,799 USD. The specs were pretty good for an Apple notebook, but the price is very Apple-like. Time to save up money for this, no?

Toshiba is currently working on the Matsushita Display, which will be capable of projecting 3D, without the need of those awkward glasses. This will be shown at this year's CES. These displays will be capable of showing 2D and 3D on the same screen and in high resolution. They are "adapting a 3D film for use with 3- and 9-inch displays." These displays will run a new technology called OCB (Optically Compensated Bend) in their LCD's. Interesting Stuff. I'd like to see Killzone 2 / Starcraft 2 in 3D, it would be sweet.

NEC is going to be hitting the market by storm with this 42.8 inch slightly curved screen. The display will weigh around 45 pounds, but will have an amazing 2880 x 900 resolution with under a 0.02 ms response time, which is an excellent thing. It's also more than double the price of the new 17 inch MacBook Pro, that i just finished talking about. You thought $2,799 was a lot? This monitor, dubbed the name NEC CRVD, will cost you $6,499 when it ships in April.

Remember that Sony Vaio netbook that i've talked about before? Well, here's a picture of what it looks like. Engadget mentions that this picture was taken off of the display monitors at CES. Apparently, it has a tiny keyboard and a tiny pointing nub. We'll have to wait until CES this weekend to know more information on this netbook.
