Samsung I6500U Saturn Hitting China Unicom With Android 2.1

Labels: , , , , ,

You may remember the Samsung I6500U Saturn Android handset from a while ago. Well, today's news tells us that this handset will be hitting China Unicom in the future - we don't know exactly when though. This handset is pretty similar to their current Galaxy Spica - at least spec-wise - and it features a 3.2-inch AMOLED touchscreen display with a 320 x 480 resolution, an 800MHz CPU, WiFi, a 3.2MP camera, GPS / Bluetooth 2.1 support, a USB 2.0 port, a microSD card slot, an FM radio, and a 1,500mAh battery. Thankfully, this handset will be running Android 2.1.

Update: Unwired View has pointed out that you can now pre-order this handset here for 3,399 (around $500 USD)

Samsung i6500, i899, and i8180 Get Revealed Unofficially, One's Android and Two Are WinMo

Well, we've got three handsets for you here. What you see above is the Samsung i6500 "Saturn" which passed the WiFi Alliance just over a month ago. We don't know the spec sheet right now, but we do know that it'll be a Google-branded Android handset - as you can tell from the photo of the back of the phone.

The second handset is above and it's sporting the model number SCH-i899 and it looks a little bit like the Behold II. This handset will feature: a 3.5-inch AMOLED touchscreen display with a 320 x 480 resolution, WiFi / GPS / Bluetooth support, a microSD card slot, a 3MP camera, and Windows Mobile. Unfortunately, this handset will be launching in China before anywhere else.

What you see above shouldn't be anything new. This is the Samsung Omnia II variant that will be hitting China shortly - as the Samsung i8180 / i8180C. Of course, it's running WinMo 6.5 and should have Omnia II typical specs. I assume that they'll throw in a TV tuner as well.

A new Samsung handset was just spotted at the WiFi Alliance. All that we know about this handset so far is that it has WiFi. Oh yeah, it also has another codename, Saturn.

Update: According to Unwired View, this handset will be running Android 2.0 when it gets launched; it will also feature an 800MHz CPU. This is unconfirmed at the time, but I'm just giving you a heads up.
