C710 Aloha To Be the GSM Variant Of Verizon's LG Ally

Labels: , , , , ,

Well, so much for the LG C710 Aloha being an amazing handset. According to GSM Arena, who got a hands-on with the phone, the C710 is just the GSM variant of the LG Ally that hit Verizon in May. Specs stay the same: a 3.2-inch capacitive touchscreen display, a slide-out QWERTY keyboard, a 600MHz Qualcomm CPU, 256MB of RAM, 512MB of ROM, a 5MP camera with an LED flash, a microSD card slot, WiFi / aGPS / Bluetooth, an FM radio, and Android 2.1 with social integration. This handset should be hitting Canada in the future as well.

Four LG Handsets Leak Out; the C710 (Ally Without the QWERTY), T300, T310, and A130

Labels: , , , , ,

All of this is starting to get confusing now. First it was the Verizon LG Ally which people were expecting to be the "Aloha" and now it's the C710 (here) that has just leaked out - which is also nothing like the "Aloha." The "Aloha" is expected to sport a 3.5-inch AMOLED touchscreen display, a 5MP AF camera, and a 1GHz Snapdragon CPU but that's not what we're seeing today. The LG C710 has leaked out (above) and it's basically the Ally without a QWERTY keyboard - it's headed to Brazil.

The T300 (here and pictured above) and the T310 (here) from LG have leaked out as well. The T300 is said to feature a touchscreen display along with a 2MP camera and could launch as the Cookie Light. The T310 (below) is sporting a slightly larger display (than the T300) but that's really all we know about it right now. Last, and least, is the A130 (here) which is another one of LG's flip phones. This will have EDGE connectivity along with an FM radio.

Bell / Telus To Get the Android-Powered LG Aloha?

Labels: , , , , , , ,

Okay, so WIND is getting an Android handset in the near future and looks like another Android handset could be hitting Canada as well. According to one of Mobile Syrup's tipsters, the LG Aloha (C710 / LU2300) could be hitting either Bell or Telus sometime in July. As a refresher, the handset features a 3.5-inch AMOLED touchscreen display, a slide-out QWERTY keyboard, a 5MP camera, and a 1GHz Snapdragon CPU.

LG (C710 / LU2300) Aloha Hits the FCC and Packing the Specs We Love; Could Hit AT&T

Labels: , , , , ,

Apparently, LG's Ally handset isn't the C710 Aloha handset that we heard about a couple of months ago. Other names for this handset is the LU2300 and we saw this back in March. This handset is the high-end Android phone that we've been looking out for - sadly the rumoured specs weren't spotted in the LG Ally. The LU2300 has just hit the FCC (here) and it's packing a 3.5-inch AMOLED touchscreen display with a 480 x 800 resolution, a slide-out 4-row QWERTY keyboard, a 5MP camera with 720p HD video recording, a 1GHz Snapdragon CPU, WCDMA bands II and V (850/1900MHz), WiFi / GPS support, and Android 2.1. This would be perfect for AT&T in the US and Rogers, Bell and Telus in Canada. There is no word on a price or release date right now.

As expected, Verizon (here) has just put up the pre-orders for the LG (C710) Ally. It's going for $99.99 on a 2-year contract and we already know everything there is know about this handset. In case you forgot, this handset has a 3.2-inch touchscreen display, a 3.2MP AF camera with a flash, a Qualcomm 600MHz CPU, 512MB of ROM, 256MB of RAM, a slide-out QWERTY keyboard, and Android 2.1.

Verizon Pre-Orders Start Tomorrow For the LG (C710) Ally, Priced At $100

Labels: , , , , , ,

Just like we heard yesterday, the Verizon pre-orders for the LG (C710) Ally will be kicking off tomorrow (May 13th) with the full release on May 20th. It'll be priced at $99.99 on a 2-year contract after a $100 mail-in rebate. It's not a bad price for what you're getting, but it's sad that the spec sheet didn't live up to the expectations.

Verizon's LG Ally Pre-Orders Start On May 13th, Running 600MHz Qualcomm CPU Not Snapdragon

Labels: , , , , ,

Okay, so you've seen the commercial over and over again. Verizon will be getting the LG (C710) Ally handset, but when? Thanks to Boy Genius we now know everything we need to about this handset. The full spec sheet is below if you're interested. The sad part about the spec sheet is that it actually packs a Qualcomm MSM7227 600MHz CPU, so it's not the Snapdragon 1GHz that everyone (including me) was expecting. The price isn't known but I'm expecting it to launch for cheaper than $150, but what do I know?

LG Launches a Website For the C710 Ally, Some Specs Mentioned

Labels: , , , , ,

Even though a commercial is airing on the TV for the LG C710 Ally just about nothing has been confirmed about the handset. That is, until now. LG has just put up a site dedicated to this handset and they've trickled out a bit of information. Of course we already know that it'll be running Android 2.1 and it clearly rocks a slide-out QWERTY keyboard. Other specs are said to be a 3.2-inch touchscreen display, a 3.2MP camera on the back, and a microSD card slot. Check it out on LG's website here.

LG Confirms the Ally Handset, The Specs Remain Officially Unknown

Labels: , , ,

LG has just confirmed that the Ally handset does exist, but we knew this already. The commercial has already hit the TV. The rumour states that this handset is headed to Verizon sometime this month. It's expected to have a 480 x 800 resolution display, a 1GHz Snapdragon CPU, and Android 2.1. We already know that it has a slide-out QWERTY keyboard, but LG never mentioned the complete spec sheet. So, is it a smartphone or something better?

Update: According to Unwired View, this handset is expected to get released on May 20th. On May 11th, there'll be an Iron Man 2 event for the handset, so that's pretty cool.

Verizon Sources Spill Details Regarding Their Upcoming Handset Launches -- LG Ally Gets Spotted In Video!

Labels: , , , , , , , , ,

One of Boy Genius's sources has just spilled some valuable information if you're looking to jump onto their network soon. Apparently on May 6th Verizon will begin their pre-sale for the Microsoft Kin One and the Kin Two. Later on in May, Verizon expects to release the BlackBerry Bold 9650. Verizon is also gearing up to launch two LG phones, the Fathom and the Aloha (C710). The Fathom is expected to be a handset running on Windows Mobile 6.5 with a touchscreen display and a slide-out QWERTY keyboard, while the C710 Aloha (which we heard of before) will feature a WVGA display, a slide-out QWERTY keyboard, a 5MP camera, a 1GHz Snapdragon CPU, and Android 2.1.

Update: According to Phone Arena, the LG Aloha has been renamed to the LG Ally.

Update: According to Unwired View, both the Ally (Aloha) and the Fathom are headed to Verizon sometime in May. The Ally is supposedly a variant of the LU2300.

Update: It looks like the LU2300 won't be the LG Ally since there's a new video that has just been spotted on YouTube that suggests otherwise. Engadget spotted it and it's below, so check it out.

Update: According to Engadget, they've confirmed that Verizon will be taking pre-orders for the Kin One and the Kin Two. It'll be shipping on May 13th.

LG C710 "Aloha" Runs Android and Could Sport WVGA Display With Slide-Out Keyboard

Labels: , , ,

LG looks like they want to make a splash this year by introducing their C710 "Aloha" smartphone that will be running on Google's Android. Apparently, it'll pack a WVGA (480 x 800) resolution display, a slide-out QWERTY keyboard, WiFi 802.11n, and GPRS/UMTS/HSDPA/HSUPA connectivity. It may seem like an April Fool's Joke since we're talking about LG here, but the C710 has actually got its WiFi Alliance certificate so the specs could be the real deal.
