Even though 240Hz technology (above) isn't exactly mainstream yet, Samsung plans to show off their new 400 / 480Hz LCD HDTVs at IFA, which takes place next month. With new technology comes more expensive prices. We'll have to see if it's worth it when we see Samsung's TV next month.

Samsung has just announced the availability of their 3 latest [and sexy] LCD monitors: the P2070, P2370, and P2370HD. All of these LCDs have "hidden" touch-sensitive controls, a 50,000:1 dynamic ratio, and are just 1.2-inches thick.

The P2070 has a 20-inch display with a 1,600 x 900 resolution and a 16:9 aspect ratio, a 2ms response time, and DVI input. The P2370 has a 23-inch display with a full 1080p HD resolution (1,920 x 1,080), and also the same 2ms response time and DVI input. The P2370HD LCD monitor ups the ante being a "crossover HDTV with a built-in ATSC tuner", component and HDMI video inputs, and tops it off with a 5ms response time.

These new Samsung LCD monitors look damn sexy and should be available now, according to Samsung - I don't know where though. For some reason though, Samsung decided not to reveal the prices.

FEDs (Field Emission Display) were going to one day replace LCDs and Plasmas, but it doesn't look like that will happen (thanks to OLEDs). Toshiba already gave up on FED and SED technology in January 2007 and now Sony has joined them. Sony once announced that they were going to buy a Pioneer plasma factoy in Japan and rebuild it into an FED factory, but they ditched those plans. I didn't really know much about FED technology, I knew more about SED technology. On a side note, Sony should focus on pumping out those OLEDs, even though I know that's not their main focus right now since they just announced their hook up with Sharp recently. I can't wait until OLEDs become mainstream, it's amazing what it can do. The price just has to drop on them, just like every other Sony product - I'm looking at you Playstation 3.

Experts over at DisplaySearch have come to the conclusion that OLED technology will start to take over the world by 2011. 2 years from now, the OLED trend will finally set it and take over all displays whether it be: TVs, cell phones, and just about every other display your mind can come up with. As you can see, OLEDs are much, much brighter than the brightest LCD or plasma screens. OLEDs were supposed to take over before the 2010 mark, but because of a couple of issues (economic-wise) it's being pushed back a couple of years. I'm extremely excited and if OLEDs take over the near future that means I will have a couple of these babies in my house. I'm excited and you should be too. DisplaySearch also went on to mention that OLEDs will be the "fastest growing material application in electronics over the next eight years." I simply can't wait for these to light up our homes in the next couple of years.
