HTC Supersonic Becomes Official, Named the HTC EVO 4G and It's the King Of All Phones

Labels: , , , , , , , ,

Today has been a pretty big day. This morning the Nintendo 3DS was announced and a couple of hours ago we heard about the amazing Samsung Galaxy S. If you may remember we heard that HTC and Sprint would be announcing a WiMAX Android phone and they didn't let us down. The HTC Supersonic has been made official as the HTC EVO 4G.

This handset is similar to the HD2 with Android, it's packing: a 4.3-inch LCD multitouch display with a 480 x 800 resolution, a Qualcomm Snapdragon QSD8650 1GHz CPU, 1GB of ROM, 512MB of RAM, an 8MP camera with a flash and 720p video recording capabilities, a 1.3MP front-facing camera, an HDMI output, WiFi b/g, a microSD card slot, an 8GB card in the box, EVDO / Rev. A connectivity, Flash support, a 1,500mAh battery, and the Sense UI over top of Android 2.1. Don't forget that this will be Sprint's first 4G phone (via WiMAX) when it launches this Summer (undisclosed price). There's a good kickstand on the back along with some hardware buttons and four touch-sensitive ones on the front. Best handset that has been announced to date? I'm going to say, yes (spec-wise). Check out the Engadget link below for a short video.

Check out Sprint's minisite for it here.

Update: According to Tech Crunch, this handset will have Qik pre-installed, which is pretty good news considering you'll be able to take advantage of that camera.
