Neofonie's WeTab MeeGo Tablet Shipping Without an App Store

Neofonie's WeTab / WePad tablet has taken its time finding its way onto the market. Sadly, the news that is being mentioned today may have already hindered the WeTab's potential. Apparently, the MeeGo-based tablet won't be launching with any sort of app store so you'll have to stick with good old Internet browsing. Of course, if you don't need an app store then this tablet will be just fine for you. For the rest of you, there's the iPad or the Samsung Galaxy Tab to choose from.

Neofonie's WePad / WeTab MeeGo Tablet Hitting Europe On September 21st
If you're still interested in the Neofonie WeTab / WePad device then there's some good news for you. The launch date has been "confirmed" to be on Tuesday, September 21st. Hopefully, they've ironed out all of the issues at this point. This tablet sports an 11.6-inch display, an Intel Atom N450 CPU, integrated Intel GMA 3150 graphics, WiFi / Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR support, and the MeeGo (1.0) OS. The last time we heard about this tablet it would be hitting Europe for 449 euros ($598 USD) for the 16GB model and 569 euros ($757 USD) for the 32GB model.

Neofonie's WeTab MeeGo Tablet Shows Up At IFA, Launching Late September
The last time we heard about Neofonie's WeTab tablet was a while ago but the launch should be sometime in late September. NewGadgets.de has just caught a glimpse of it showing up at IFA and there's nothing surprising on-board. It's still running a customized MeeGo OS and it's looking more stable than it has ever before so it's definitely close to launching. Let's just hope it doesn't get delayed again. Check out the near 5 minute video on Engadget below.

It looks like the Neofonie WeTab tablet has been delayed all the way until September of this year - according to Amazon Germany (here). This is extremely sad for people waiting for this tablet. Looks like this won't be the iPad killer for Europe after all.

There's not much to tell you that the title already doesn't. The NeoFonie WePad tablet has gotten a name change to the WeTab. Neofonie didn't explain why, but Crunch Gear suggests that Apple pressured them into it somehow. Their Facebook group has already changed, so it's as official as it gets.

Neofonie's WePad Tablet Hitting Europe This July, Prices Announced
Neofonie has just announced that their WePad tablet, which will go directly against the iPad, will be released sometime in July - initial soft launch with full availability afterwards. The 16GB with WiFi will cost you €449 ($611 USD), while the 32GB model with 3G / GPS support, and a Full HD (1,920 x 1,080 resolution) display will cost you €569 ($774 USD). That's pretty impressive, considering I've never heard of an 11.6-inch Full HD display. This is definitely looking like a worthy competitor to the iPad, seeing how it has things like USB ports, a webcam, a memory card reader, and Android.
The launch in the US wasn't announced, so we'll have to wait around for that - if it hits the US.
