The lightest touchscreen phone has just been officially announced and it's coming from Modu, the Android-based T Phone. The full spec sheet actually wasn't mentioned but it'll reportedly get released on October 10th with 3.5G and 2.75G models. Inside you'll get 2GB of internal storage which isn't too bad since it has a memory card slot on there as well. Price wasn't mentioned so we'll have to wait around for that one.

Modu's Android-based, the T-Phone, has just hit the FCC (filing here). The FCC filing points out that Modu may have decided to change its name to simply the "W". The Modu W is going to be the smallest Android phone and also the world's lightest touchscreen phone. Sadly, it won't be packing 3G functionalities but it'll be pretty impossible to type on the virtual QWERTY keyboard so is there really a point? It will have WiFi though.

In early June we heard about the Modu T-Phone and it has just made an appearance in a video. This seems like it will be the smallest Android in the world since it's a little bit smaller than Sony Ericsson's XPERIA X10 Mini. The T-Phone from Modu will reportedly feature a microSD card slot, 3G connectivity, an FM tuner, and WiFi support. In the video, it's mentioned that there's stylus support so the small touchscreen display could actually be resistive. In the video it's also mentioned that there's no 3G connectivity on this unit so Engadget points out that it could be a pre-production unit. Let's hope that is the case.

Apparently, a company named Modu is going to be releasing the phone you see above, dubbed the T-Phone. It's a lame name for a lame phone. The company is looking to price this handset at $400 to $500 which is definitely overpriced considering that there appears to be no camera on this. The good news is that it will have a full touchscreen display along with 3G connectivity. That's all we know right now though.
