Verizon's iPhone To Have 4G LTE Connectivity? Launching In Very Early 2011?

Labels: , , , , , ,

The iPhone on Verizon rumour has struck again. Latest rumour has it that said iPhone will be running on the carrier's LTE (4G) network. Apparently, this launch will be quite soon because the rumour also states that this could launch right after Christmas so it could mean a very early 2011 launch - possibly before the iPad announcement which should be in late January. The rumour goes on to mention that Verizon has already been testing 4G iPhone's since last week. Take this with a grain of salt because we all know how out of hand Apple's rumours tend to be. If it's true then Android's growth may be slowed down just a bit.

Apple Supposedly Launching the Next iPhone On June 18th On AT&T

Labels: , , , , , , ,

There's a new rumour going around that Apple will be releasing their next-gen iPhone on Friday, June 18th. Apparently, AT&T employees are expected to sell 25 - 30% more than usual - their sales quota has gone up - for the month of June. Of course, all of our questions should be answered at WWDC which takes place on Monday. Take it away, Steve Jobs.

iPhone HD In White Casing Leaks Out Again, This Time Showing Off the Backside

Labels: , , , , ,

The buzz today is about the iPhone HD making another appearance in front of the camera. This one is showing off the white casing, which will be announced next week at Apple's WWDC event. Of course, all you can do right now is wish you could buy one so just enjoy the pictures for now. The rumours are pointing to the next iPhone to have 32GB and  64GB of internal memory.

Apple Chooses an LCD IPS Panel For Next iPhone, Rejects Samsung's AMOLED Because Of Shortages

Labels: , , , , , ,

According to DigiTimes, Apple has rejected Samsung's AMOLED display for the next iPhone. This is because Samsung won't be able to keep up with the demand of the iPhone while supplying other manufacturers. Apple is rumoured to have chosen a new LCD IPS panel instead and inside you'll find the Apple A4 CPU. I knew having an AMOLED display in the next iPhone would be too good to be true seeing how we've been hearing this rumours for years now. It's too expensive for them anyway.

AT&T Telling Employees That the Next iPhone Is Coming In Mid-June

Labels: , , , , , , , ,

There's a rumour going around that AT&T is telling their employees that the next-gen iPhone is expected in mid-June - anywhere from the 11th to the 18th. This will be just shortly after the announcement that'll take place at WWDC on June 7th. This is somewhat expected so don't be too surprise. It should hit the FCC in a couple of weeks.

Next iPhone Confirmed To Have Video-Calling, Working On a New Commercial Too

Labels: , ,

Obviously, the next iPhone will have video calling thanks to the front-facing camera - this isn't a surprise. However, it's finally been unofficially confirmed. Of course, front-facing cameras and video calling isn't exactly the newest thing on planet Earth, but Apple could be the first company to actually put it to some good use. Moving right along, Apple is apparently making a new commercial that will show off this video chat feature and it'll be directed by Sam Mendes, the director of American Beauty. I doubt either of these people will get the Apple commercial job because it probably goes against their NDA agreement - thanks for the tip though!

Apple Looking To Launch a CDMA iPhone On Sprint This September?

Labels: , , , , , , , , ,

This is a yearly thing now. Right before WWDC, all of these wild rumours fly out about the iPhone - most of them turn out to be just rumours. The latest one is that we'll be seeing a CDMA iPhone hit Sprint in September of this year. Of course, this will be contradicting the 5-year deal that Apple made with AT&T so I doubt this will turn out to be true. If this is true, I assume that the handset will be capable of running on their 4G network - I can start rumours too!

White Next-Gen iPhone Leaks Out, Looking Pretty Nice

Labels: , , ,

A couple of days ago there were some white next-gen iPhone casings that leaked out and today's a new day. Today, new photos were spotted and it's the next-gen iPhone sporting the white face. It looks pretty sexy, but I would never get it - because I like my devices in black. I already know a couple of people who are going to buy the white model.

Next iPhone Definitely Getting Video Calling, Someone Testing It Out

In case you weren't sure if the next iPhone (HD or 4G) will have video calling - thanks to a front-facing camera - then here's the proof. Clearly, someone is busy testing out video calling on their iPhone.

iPhone 4 Beta 4 Code Reveals LED Flash On the Next iPhone, iPod (Likely the Touch), and iPad, Mac OS 10.7 Soon

Labels: , , , , , , , ,

A couple more interesting pieces of detail has just been spotted in the code of the iPhone 4 Beta 4. It seems just about certain that the next iPhone that comes out in about a month from now will have an LED flash which isn't too surprising.

That's not all though. Apparently, a future iPod and the next iPad will likely have it as well.

Of course, the next iPod Touch will have a camera.

Last, but not least, it looks like we can expect Apple to release the Mac OS 10.7 sometime in the near future. This means Apple plans to launch the next iteration of the Mac OS within a year from now. It's expected that their latest version will have touch support.

New Apple Leak Shows a White iPhone Casing -- and the Front-Facing Camera, Of Course

Labels: , , , ,

The latest leak shows a possible next-gen iPhone case in black and even a white colour. The iPhone hasn't sported a white face yet so this will be a first for Apple. We already know that the back will likely be aluminum since we've seen so many pictures and videos of it "leaked". It's good to see that Apple is going to launch two colours of the iPhone, but who knows if this will actually become a reality in a couple of weeks.

Foxconn Shipping 24 Million Next-Gen iPhones This Year, 960x480 Resolution and 512MB of RAM

Labels: , , , , , , ,

Digitimes has just reported that Foxconn will ship a bunch of next-generation iPhones this year - 4.5 million units in the first half of this year and 19.5 million units for the rest of the year, to be [somewhat] exact. Apparently, the next iPhone will sport an IPS panel with a much higher resolution, possibly 960 x 480, and these are coming from LG Display and Prime View International. There's expected to be 512MB of RAM in the next iPhone which is double what you'll find inside the iPad and the iPhone 3GS. Of course, we already know that it'll feature the Apple A4 chip. Look out for this on June 7th at WWDC.

Vietnamese Site Gets a Next-Generation iPhone Running OS 4 -- Sadly Photoshopped

Labels: , , , ,

Apparently, a Vietnamese website has managed to get their hands on the next-generation iPhone. It appears to be running iPhone OS 4, but there aren't much details on this device since there's only a picture and no video. Their website also appears to be down at the time of writing so we can't really dig for more information. This iPhone is apparently the "N90 PRO2" which means that it's another prototype of Apple's. Steve Jobs must be pissed.

Update: According to Slash Gear, this picture may actually be photoshopped. What you see below is a direct quote from Slash Gear.

For example, on the left-side of the device, it seems that the space between screen and bezel is far too thin, and therefore leads most to believe that it was a bad judgment call from the person who sent it through Photoshop. And then there’s supposed to be a grey strip that extends the length of the screen, but that does not. So, if these are to be believed, then it looks like the iPhone HD prototype over the seas, which might’ve been running iPhone OS 4 at some point in time, is not actually running anything at all. A real shame, if you ask us.

Pegatron Producing 10 Million CDMA iPhones Set For Verizon This Year? Launch Expected In August / September

Labels: , , , , , , , , , ,

This is a back and forth topic. Apple is releasing an iPhone for Verizon then they end up not doing it, so take this one with a grain of salt. Apparently, Apple is expecting to produce 10 million CDMA iPhones this year and they've "clinched a contract" with Pegatron to have these made. This is coming from Digitimes, just in case you're wondering. The launch is apparently set for August / September of this year but nothing is for sure with Apple. We'll really just have to wait until the official word from them at WWDC this June.

Verizon iPhone 4G Coming This Year? Some Verizon Employees Under NDA

Labels: , , , , ,

Apparently, the Verizon iPhone could really be coming this year, if you believe what Engadget is hearing. Word on the street is that the iPhone on Verizon will be running on their upcoming LTE (4G) network. Some Verizon employees are under NDA right now and they're supposedly testing this device right now, so that's pretty awesome and this could mean that it's real. Of course, Verizon's LTE network will be quite premature if the iPhone comes this year so it'll likely run on their CDMA network as well. Engadget has got a lengthy post on their website so you might find it interesting to read it, go on over.

Next iPhone Likely To Record 720p HD Video

Labels: , , ,

We already know that Apple set to launch their next iPhone this year and it'll likely be called the iPhone HD. If this is the case it'll be because it'll record 720p HD video - using the back 5MP camera. Of course, this won't be the first handset to do it but it's definitely a great addition. I believe the front-facing camera will be more revolutionary than the 720p video snapper on the back. The evidence was found below in the latest iPhone SDK.

iPhone (4G / HD) To Get 5MP Camera Sensors From LG Innotek

Labels: , , ,

So, the iPhone 3GS packs a 3.2MP camera, so it shouldn't be a surprise to anyone if the next-gen iPhone (4G / HD) has a 5MP sensor. Of course, it should also pack a front-facing camera but that's not what we're talking about. The 5MP sensor on the back is supposedly being supplied by LG Innotek according to a couple of sources. We'll find out more in June at Apple's WWDC.

Apple's WWDC 2010 Kicks Off On June 7th This Year

Labels: , , , , , , ,

Not much to tell you here but Apple is planning to hold their WWDC 2010 this year and it'll be starting on June 7th. We're expected to see the iPhone 4G / HD announcement at the event and Apple looks like they'll also be focusing on their iPhone OS 4 as well as some iPad stuff. There won't be too much stuff regarding Mac OS X, but maybe they'll announce their latest iteration to include some touchscreen capabilities.

Next iPhone (4G / HD) To Feature Video Calls But Only Over WiFi

Labels: , , ,

So we know that the iPhone 4G / HD will likely include video calls - thanks to the addition of the front-facing camera. The sad news is that Apple is looking to have video calls only available over WiFi. This is probably going to be the case when this smartphone launches this year because AT&T's network already can't handle whatever their users are doing right now. This WiFi-only video chat is hinted at in the iPhone OS 4 Beta 2 SDK. Keep in mind that this could change in the future.

IMAVCHAT_COULD_NOT_CONNECT_NO_REMOTE_WIFI = "The video call could not connect because a remote Wi-Fi connection could not be established.";
IMAVCHAT_DISCONNECTED_NO_LOCAL_WIFI = "The video call disconnected because the local Wi-Fi connection was lost.";
