Digital Cube's iStation T3, Gigabyte GSmart S1200, NVIDIA Ion Multi-Tasking On Windows 7, Palm Ends PalmOS, Moves Onto WebOS

The iStation T3 from Digital Cube is going to be released soon. Although, there is no scheduled release date nor a confirmed price tag, i might as well give you some of its features. The iStation T3 is a PMP (Portable Media Player) that will have a 4.3 inch touchscreen. The screen itself has a resolution of 480 x 272, which is odd. It will have 32GB of storage on-board and will also have an SDHC expansion slot, just in case you need some more space. The T3 also has FM radio, a voice recorder, a dictionary (for some reason) and an optional TV output. "Portable Alliance claims that the unit will be offered in standard, academic and DMB flavors." It'll be interesting to see when this device will pop-up again.

The Gigabyte GSmart S1200 will be making its debut at MWC in Barcelona this weekend. It looks like a decent phone at first, but it's running on WinMo 6.1. This phone may not be terrible because it uses a 528MHz Qualcomm 7200A processor. As you can tell, the phone has a touchscreen and is only 0.43 inches thick.

At a recent press conference, NVIDIA and Microsoft worked together to prove something. "As you might have guessed the pair was especially keen to show off Windows 7 multitasking on the platform ... with it able to convert a 1080p video file to a more portable size while the video was playing, and play Left 4 Dead at 720p resolution without any noticeable hiccups." Isn't that incredible? Apparently, the NVIDIA Ion is going to be used widely in netbooks, but it will be released on a desktop PC first. NVIDIA will probably try to increase the Ion's battery-life in the meantime.

Despite Sony saying that the new Bravia's won't be available until the Spring-time, it looks like they're ahead of schedule. The new 46-inch Sony Bravia with 120Hz Motionflow technology are now on sale for $1,899 USD on Sony's website. These are quite heavy (52.6 pounds), but who cares, unless you're planning to mount it on the wall. This TV doesn't have WirelessHD, so if that's what you're looking for, this is not the TV you'd want.

It was a good run for PalmOS over the years, but it's time to move on. Palm will now be utilizing their new WebOS (found in the Palm Pre) and Windows Mobile for their future phones.

528 Mhz is too slow for Win 6.1, as it is not very well optimized. The omnia uses a 624MHz Marvell PXA312 processor and still feels very sluggish.

Gigabyte should stick to making motherboards.

I actually didn't know that the Omnia's processor was that impressive and, as was already expected, the Gigabyte phone will be a flop. Gotta love the success of WinMo 6.1!
