The rumours were true - and it's definitely not the Courier - Steve Ballmer really did unveil a new tablet PC and went on to call it a "Slate"... I wonder why... Anyways, the specs for this tablet / slate weren't mentioned but it's a basic-looking tablet. According to Ballmer it's more powerful than a phone and almost as powerful as a PC. It's perfect for reading and actually has pinch-and-zoom, yes, multitouch. The price wasn't mentioned, but it'll be available "later this year." Of course, it's running full Windows 7.

At their press conference just a couple of minutes ago, Sony revealed the Dash. The Dash is basically a 7-inch tablet that reminds me of a digital picture frame since it does stand up on its own. It has WiFi support and has 1,000 free apps (1,500 total) courtesy of Sony. This is expected to launch in April for $199.99 USD.
