Google Hoping To Launch Wave To Everyone By the End of 2010

Labels: ,

Although a lot of people are confused about what Google Wave is, I believe it's been quite a big hit. Google plans on releasing more invites in the earlier half of 2010 with the final release coming in late 2010. They're only "hoping" to have a full release by the end of next year, so don't be too excited if you don't get your Google Wave invites. Thankfully, I was one of the lucky people who got an invitation. So far it's given me a chance to talk with a couple of people, basically just brainstorming ideas on a couple of topics.

Intel Set To Increase Limit of RAM Inside Their Netbooks To 2GB?

Labels: , , , ,

The latest rumour states that Intel may be increasing their limit on GB's of RAM inside netbooks using their Atom CPUs. According to what we're hearing Intel will allow netbooks to have up to 2GB of RAM inside of them. Intel hasn't made an official statement regarding this news, so we'll just have to wait around and see. I'm guessing that this limit will be in effect when they launch their Pine Trail Atoms.

Although it's not available yet, the HTC HD2 has just popped up on O2's website as an option to select an accessory. We still don't know when it will launch, but it's unofficially confirmed now. O2 customers are getting impatient at this point, so the bad news is that they'll have to wait a little big longer. US customers, on the other hand, have to wait until Q1 2010 to get their hands on this handset.

Possible Apple iTablet SIM Card Tray Already Available, Made By Foxconn

Labels: , , , ,

According to various reports this morning, Foxconn has a SIM tray slot available for $14.05 USD. This could reportedly be used in Apple's iTablet, since it is slightly larger than the iPhone 3GS' SIM card tray. It also features a metal frame which would make the overall device slightly sturdier (and heavier). Of course, since it is a tablet, this is acceptable.

As you can tell from the photo it has a touchscreen display - possibly around 3.5-inches - and there's supposedly an 8.1MP snapper on the back. Tech Radar is calling it a Sony Ericsson Satio "sequel", and it could very well be since we're also hearing that it will be running on S60. This handset looks like it has a 2010 UK release date, so don't expect much about this handset anytime soon.

We don't know the specs of their upcoming netbook, but my bets on Intel's Pine Trail Atom line-up. Let's hope the 1GB of RAM will be upgradeable though.

According to various reports, Mac OS X 10.6.2 is hinting at a MacBook Pro refresh in the near future. These new MacBook Pros will be equipped with Intel Core i5 / i7 CPUs. The Core i7 CPUs will feature HyperThreading, which will mean that it will have eight-cores. MacBook Pro refreshes are rumoured to be coming by the end of this year, but I doubt that Apple will make any design changes since they usually refresh their notebook line-up in January.

Netflix Headed To the PS3 Starting This November, $8.99 Monthly

Labels: , , , ,

It looks like PlayStation 3 owners will be watching a lot of movies in the near future. The rumour turned out to be true so it looks like Netflix will be coming to the PS3 next month (November). Like Xbox 360 owners, PS3 users will be able to watch as many movies as they want 24/7 for $8.99 a month. Of course, all you'll need is a Netflix account.

According to the official announcement, which confirms speculation that Netflix streaming would come to a console that isn't the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 owners will be initially required to have a free, Netflix-provided Blu-ray disc in the console to watch said movies, taking advantage of Blu-ray's BD-Live tech.
(You can quickly request one at netflix.com/ps3, PlayStation 3 owner.)
Later, we should probably expect Sony and Netflix to offer a firmware update or application that will do the work of the Blu-ray disc. Looks like the PS3 implementation of Netflix will be similar to the Xbox 360 version, letting users browse and update their "Watch Instantly" queues from the XMB.
More details on the good news is available at the PlayStation.blog.

Phandroid points out that this will be the third Android handset that Verizon will be launching this holiday season. Right now it's unconfirmed, but I'm definitely hoping that this is true.
