Next iPhone Confirmed To Have Video-Calling, Working On a New Commercial Too

Labels: , ,

Obviously, the next iPhone will have video calling thanks to the front-facing camera - this isn't a surprise. However, it's finally been unofficially confirmed. Of course, front-facing cameras and video calling isn't exactly the newest thing on planet Earth, but Apple could be the first company to actually put it to some good use. Moving right along, Apple is apparently making a new commercial that will show off this video chat feature and it'll be directed by Sam Mendes, the director of American Beauty. I doubt either of these people will get the Apple commercial job because it probably goes against their NDA agreement - thanks for the tip though!

Sony PlayStation Move Coming In July? -- Doubt It.

Labels: , ,

Take this with a grain of salt that I'm not believing one bit. Apparently, Sony could release the PlayStation Move sometime in July. July definitely isn't Fall, which is when Sony said they're going to release it so I definitely think this is some kind of mistake. This rumour is starting because some video game store, BT Games, has just released a brochure stating that it's set for a July launch date.

HTC Desire To Get Android 2.2 "Froyo" As Early As June 23rd?

Labels: , , , , ,

Apparently, the Froyo roll-out is definitely coming faster than expected (at least, I think so). There's a rumour going around that states that the HTC Desire could be getting an update to Android 2.2 in the near future - just about a month away - on June 23rd. This is a great thing because Google has already released Froyo to Nexus One devices so it's really up to HTC to put their Sense UI over top of it. Maybe Google is really looking to get rid of fragmentation after all.

Apple Looking To Launch a CDMA iPhone On Sprint This September?

Labels: , , , , , , , , ,

This is a yearly thing now. Right before WWDC, all of these wild rumours fly out about the iPhone - most of them turn out to be just rumours. The latest one is that we'll be seeing a CDMA iPhone hit Sprint in September of this year. Of course, this will be contradicting the 5-year deal that Apple made with AT&T so I doubt this will turn out to be true. If this is true, I assume that the handset will be capable of running on their 4G network - I can start rumours too!

LG Vu Plus Officially Hitting AT&T On June 6th For $149.99, Worst Possible Launch Date

Verizon Officially Announces the LG (VS750) Fathom, May 27th For $149.99

Labels: , , , , ,

Verizon has finally announced that they'll be launching the LG (VS750) Fathom - it took them long enough. This handset will be sporting a 3.2-inch resistive touchscreen display (480 x 800 resolution), a slide-out QWERTY keyboard, a 3.2MP AF camera, Bluetooth 2.1 / GPS support, WiFi b/g/n, EV-DO / HSDPA connectivity, an unknown 1GHz CPU, and WinMo 6.5.3. This handset won't be upgraded to WinPho 7 seeing how the camera isn't up to the minimum 5MP requirement.

The handset will be available on May 27th for $149.99 on a 2-year contract after a $100 mail-in rebate. That's definitely a tad expensive, especially considering all the other smartphones that Verizon has. The final decision is really up to you.

LG (GW910) Panther Prototype Handset Shipping To Developers

Labels: , , , ,

LG is said to already be shipping out some prototype units of their WinPho 7 based LG Panther. Right now only developers are able to get their hands on it, but it's looking like it will be ready for an end of the year release. This handset has a pretty good spec sheet along with a slide-out QWERTY keyboard. The OS is reportedly getting updated every other day because it is just a prototype right now. The camera is said to be pretty good right now, but that's just about all the interesting stuff there is to say. Check out what someone had to say about their short hands on with this device.

  • This is definitely still a prototype device, and there are still quite a few rough edges to be fixed. The device OS is still being updated with new builds almost every other day.
  • Even the packaging and box is expected to be different before the final product ships. For example, the current box is not even using the correct Windows Phone 7 logo.
  • Despite it’s prototype status, the phone appears to be more or less feature complete and incredibly responsive and fast. The animations are all very smooth.
  • For the time being, you need a special build of the desktop Zune software (Dorado) to sync with the device; the current released version of desktop Zune software won’t work.
  • The camera works pretty well, and the resulting photo is sharp, as you can see below:

Sometimes you just have to be in the right place at the right time.

Update: It's back up! Check out the link here, it's the Dell Studio 14.
