Nokia Announces Symbian Anna Update; Also E6 and X7 Handsets

Labels: , , ,

Today isn't just HTC's day, Nokia announced two new handsets today as well as Symbian "Anna" which is an update for the N8, E7, C7, and C6-01 and will be the first of a few more updates to the outdated OS. In brief, the Anna update will have new icons, a better browser, a new version of Ovi Maps, a portrait QWERTY keyboard, and "real" homescreen scrolling. Let's get back to the devices, shall we?

First up we'll talk about the Nokia E6 which is above. It's a portrait QWERTY keyboard packing handset and it's, obviously, their best one so far. It packs a 2.46-inch VGA (640 x 480 resolution) touchscreen display (326ppi), an 8MP camera with a dual-LED flash and 720p HD video recording, 8GB of storage, a microSD card slot, GPS, WiFi b/g/n support, a 3.5mm headphone jack, a 1,500mAh battery, and Symbian Anna. This one will be available in Q2 in black, silver, and white. I'd still rather wait for a Bold Touch but the choice is yours.

Next up is below and it's the Nokia X7 which has leaked many times before. This one packs a 4-inch AMOLED display, an 8MP camera with a dual-LED flash and 720p HD video recording, a microSD card slot, 1GB of ROM, Bluetooth 3.0 / WiFi b/g/n support, a 680MHz CPU, and Symbian Anna. This will also be available in Q2 for €380 ($547 USD) unlocked. They're both pretty interesting handsets, but I'm still waiting on their first Windows Phone 7 one.

Nokia T7-00 Leaks and It's Not a Tablet, Another Symbian^3 Device

Labels: , ,

Yet another Nokia device has leaked and it's the T7-00. Unfortunately, it's probably just another Symbian^3 device and not a Windows Phone 7 or even a tablet. This device reportedly features a 360 x 640 resolution which is right on pace with their latest and greatest phones so you can expect it to fly under the radar. Who knows when or if this device will hit the market.

3 UK Launching Samsung Galaxy S2 Mini, Nokia X7, LG Optimus 3D, HTC Flyer, BB Playbook

Labels: , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , ,

3 UK may have just leaked some juicy information regarding some upcoming smartphones. Apparently, Samsung is prepping a Galaxy S2 Mini for the future and the launch is reportedly set for April on the carrier. Specs are going to include a 3.7-inch WVGA touchscreen display, a 5MP AF camera with an LED flash, a VGA front-facing camera, HSDPA connectivity, WiFi n / Bluetooth support, GPS, a 1.4GHz CPU, WiFi hotspot capabilities, and Android "Gingerbread" with the Touchwiz UI. This is classified as a high-end handset and I'm actually looking to pick this one up because I really like 3.7-inch displays. Don't worry, there's more!

Moving along, it looks like the Symbian^3 based Nokia X7 - that won't be hitting AT&T anymore - will be headed to 3 UK this June, along with the LG Optimus 3D. In May you can expect the 7-inch HTC Flyer tablet and in June you'll be able to pick up a WiFi-only BlackBerry Playbook. Interesting stuff, I'm looking forward to them all!

Symbian^3 Based Nokia C7 To Hit T-Mobile USA On April 6th For $79?

Labels: , , , ,

We already know that the Nokia C7 is going to hit T-Mobile USA but TMoNews is back at it again. This time they have mentioned that it won't be launching as the "Tiger", instead it might actually be the Nokia Astound. The rumoured launch for this handset is now April 6th and it should cost $79.99 on a 2-year contract. The handset is running Symbian^3 so it's not exactly the best OS out there. If love Nokia and you live in the US then wait around for it.

Internal T-Mobile Screenshot Shows the Nokia C7, Confirms the Tiger

Labels: , , , ,

TmoNews has just snagged the internal screenshot you see above and it shows the Symbian^3 powered Nokia C7. Ealier rumours state that this handset will be hitting T-Mobile USA very soon as the Nokia Tiger. Not exactly an attractive name but it's fierce. The price is unknown right now but it should be more than free on a 2-year contract - although that price does sound good.

Labels: , , , ,

It looks like WIND Mobile's phone line-up is about to expand with a Nokia phone running the obsolete Symbian^3 OS. It's going to be the Nokia C7 which sports a 3.5-inch touchscreen display with a 360 x 640 resolution display, an 8MP camera with a dual-LED flash, WiFi / Bluetooth support, and a microSD card slot. The price hasn't been leaked yet but Mobile Syrup has mentioned that it could be $350 contract-free.

Nokia C6-01 To Hit Bell For $279.95 Sans Contract

Labels: , , , ,

Thanks to the recent leak that Mobile Syrup got their hands on we now know that prices that Bell intends to release the Nokia C6-01 for. They're hearing that the Nokia C6-01 will be launching on March 20th for $279.95 contract-free. Now, of course, a lot of people don't buy their phones contract-free so you're going to have to wait for that 3-year price tag to leak. That should be soon.

Nokia E6-00 Leaks In the Wild, Sporting Updated Symbian^3

Labels: , ,

The Nokia E6-00 has just leaked to the masses and it's going to be a QWERTY handset running on the Symbian^3 OS. Yeah, no Windows Phone 7 leaks from Nokia yet. The display is said to be a 640 x 480 resolution, according to leaks, as well as WiFi / Bluetooth 2.0 support and an 8MP AF camera with an LED flash. It just might be the most powerful QWERTY phone to hit the market.

T-Mobile USA To Launch the C7 As the Nokia Tiger This Month?

This news is coming from TMoNews and it could launch later this month for $99.99 on a 2-year contract if what they're hearing is correct. This handset, in case you forgot, packs a 3.5-inch AMOLED display with a 360 x 640 resolution, 8GB of internal storage, a microSD card slot, HSDPA connectivity, WiFi b/g/n / Bluetooth 3.0 support, a 680MHz CPU, an 8MP camera with a dual-LED flash and 720p HD video recording, a front-facing camera, and Symbian^3.

Labels: , ,

Nokia has just announced something great for those of you who pre-ordered their Symbian^3 based E7 smartphone. The good news is that it's shipping right now, but only to "select markets" which include the UK. This handset is the best thing that the company has ever crafter with a 4-inch display, an 8MP rear-facing camera, 16GB of internal storage, and a slide-out QWERTY keyboard; the only thing bringing this smartphone down is the OS so hopefully you'll be able to put up with it.

This is the first picture of the Nokia E6 in the wild and it's definitely sporting a QWERTY keyboard as expected. Other rumoured specs involve a 640 x 480 resolution, Symbian^3, and wildly enough an 8MP camera on the back with a dual-LED flash. These are all unconfirmed right now but maybe Nokia will be unveiling this one in a few weeks - possibly when MWC is going on.

WSJ Says the Nokia X7 Is Never Going To Hit AT&T

Labels: , , , , ,

So much for AT&T launching the Symbian^3 based Nokia X7 soon. The WSJ is reporting that Nokia has reportedly cancelled the handset's launch because of the lack of the right subsidies and marketing that the carrier was going to do. Oh well, we're sure only a few people will miss this one in all honesty. With the iPhone 4 and the slew of awesome Android devices that the carrier will be launching soon, it doesn't really matter.
