Samsung Set To Release Android-Based W899 Flip Smartphone

Labels: , , , , , ,

Samsung is seriously about taking the first spot from Nokia for global market share in the phone space and they're doing so with the help of Google's Android OS. They have a bunch of form factors right now and here's a new one. The handset you see above and below is the W899 which is going to be running Android 2.2 "Froyo" when it hits the market. Yes, it's a flip phone.

Don't call it a feature phone though because it has external / internal 3.3-inch AMOLED multitouch displays, a 5MP rear-facing camera, a front-facing VGA camera, a 1GHz CPU, a microSD card slot, and 512MB of internal storage. If you still love flip phones then this one's definitely raising the standards. Sadly, it'll only be available on China Telecom.

All of the other specs, of course, stay the same so you won't be missing out on anything. This model is expected to hit China Telecom in the future but who knows exactly when.

Android Lenovo LePhone Hitting China In May, Worldwide Afterwards

Labels: , , , , , , ,

A pretty awesome Android phone is launching in May of this year and we're talking about the Lenovo LePhone. This handset doesn't come with the keyboard you see above but of course you can carry it around with you if you want - it's detachable. In May this handset will be launching on China Unicom, China Mobile, and China Telecom all at the same time. Don't worry though, it'll be launching everywhere else in the world - for the most part - "later" in the year, which probably means the second half.

Philips D908 Handset Coming To China Telecom Soon With 1GB of RAM

But that's not all it's packing. Somehow Philips managed to pack in 1GB of RAM into this high-end handset, so that will improve the performance. Labels: , , , , , , , ,

Philips has just gone out and mentioned two new touchscreen handsets, the X806 (above) and the C702 (below) and they've also announced more specs of their Android-based handset, the V900.

This handset will launch on China Mobile, but the price hasn't been mentioned yet.

Labels: , , , , , , , , , , ,

As you may or may not know, the HTC Touch Diamond 2 is going to be launched by Verizon as the HTC XV6975 - or could this actually be the Whitestone? Whatever it is, above is the new rendered form of it. It looks quite different from the Touch Diamond 2 that we all know and love, but it looks sexy. Like I said, this could be the Whitestone, since the specs are a little bit different from the Touch Diamond 2. This handset has: a 3.6-inch WVGA touchscreen display, aGPS support, a 5MP AF camera, a Qualcomm 7600 528MHz CPU, 512MB of ROM, 256MB of RAM, GSM / CDMA connectivity, and it will also run WinMo 6.1. It will, of course, be upgradeable to WinMo 6.5. If you remember, the Touch Diamond 2 has a smaller 3.2-inch touchscreen display. Anyways, the release date for the Touch Diamond 2 / Whitestone / XV6975 on Verizon is said to be September / October.

I've talked about the HTC Mega before and what you see above is what it will supposedly look like. The HTC Mega has: a 2.8-inch QVGA touchscreen display, GSM / HSDPA connectivity, GPS support, a 3MP camera, a Qualcomm 7225 528MHz CPU, and 256MB of ROM and RAM. It will be running on WinMo 6.5 and will have the new Touch FLO2D UI that we saw just over a week ago.

Last, but not least, is a picture of the HTC Tachi. This phone will be sold in China via China Telecom, under the Dopod brand name. It'll be running Windows Mobile.
