Casio G'zOne Commando and DROID Incredible 2 Available For $199

Labels: , , , , , , , , , , , , , ,

Verizon has actually released two phones today which is pretty amazing. There's the Casio G'zOne Commando and the DROID Incredible 2 which are both running the Android OS. They're both available right now for $199.99 if you're willing to sign up for a 2-year contract.

The first handset is expensive because it's a rugged handset; other than that it's a mid-end touchscreen phone. The DROID Incredible 2 is just the Incredible S in a disguise and Verizon-branding. It's a decent upgrade over the last model but, sadly, still houses a 1GHz CPU. Check them both out on Verizon whenever you want to.

Motorola Testing a 7-Inch "Gingerbread" Tablet That's Rugged?

Labels: , , , , ,

Motorola looks like they're testing a new tablet that's unfortunately running just Android 2.3 "Gingerbread" if the picture above is anything to go by. Thankfully, the rest of the spec sheet is looking great so hopefully they'll upgrade the OS before the release. This unnamed tablet reportedly features a 7-inch LCD display, a dual-core 1GHz OMAP 4 CPU, 1GB of RAM, 8GB of storage, a 1.3MP front-facing camera, an 8MP rear-facing camera, Bluetooth 2.1 / WiFi a/b/g/n support, and a USB port for good measure.

That's not all though because this one's apparently a rugged tablet and the battery life will be good enough for 5 and a half hours of video streaming. On the rugged side, this tablet will withstand a four foot drop, extreme temperatures / dust, and some water. Who knows when or if this tablet will hit the market.

Motion Computing Unveils Rugged 10.1-Inch Windows 7 Tablet, Digitizer Friendly

Labels: , , , , ,

A company called Motion Computing has just unveiled their latest Windows 7 [Professional] tablet, dubbed the CL900. This one is sporting a 10.1-inch display (1,366 x 768 resolution) along with Intel's Oak Trail Atom CPU. You'll also find dual-cameras, a USB port, a microSD card slot, and a SIM card slot on this tablet in case you're interested in it.

Specs aren't all that matter here because this tablet is actually MIL-STD-810G certified so it'll survive a four-foot drop thanks to its Corning Gorilla Glass display. Engadget also mentioned that this tablet has a capacitive layer on the touchscreen but you'll be able to use an active digitizer on the display as well for note-taking. Thankfully, it was reportedly "quite smooth and responsive" but I wonder how it fares against Asus' Eee Pad MeMO. This tablet is expected to hit the market for "less than $1,000" so if you're looking for something like this and have the money then you'll have to wait until this one hits the market.
