Palm Pixi 2 Hitting SFR France In January?

Labels: , , , , , ,

Coming from Pre Central is word on the next Palm device hitting the market sometime next month. If that is the case then we should see the grand unveiling at CES 2011 which is just about two weeks away. The handset that we're talking about here will reportedly be the Pixi 2. Apparently, this handset will be hitting SFR in France before anywhere else. Of course, there's also word on Palm stepping up their device game over the next year so we'll really just have to see what they have up their sleeves.

Palm Pre 2 Gets Official With WebOS 2.0; Hitting France This Friday, USA and Canada In a Few Months

Labels: , , , , , , , , ,

Well, this just about came out of nowhere. Palm has officially announced the Pre 2. This smartphone packs a 3.1-inch HVGA multitouch display, WiFi b/g  / Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR support, 16GB of internal storage, GPS, a 3.5mm headphone jack, a slide-up QWERTY keybaord, a 5MP camera with an LED flash, and, yes, WebOS 2.0! Of course, as the rumours suggest you'll likely find a 1GHz CPU inside of this but that's unconfirmed right now. Yes, the Pre 2 looks very similar to the Pre's of the past so nothing should surprise you here. There's Flash 10.1 Beta support on this handset as well so that's definitely good news.

This smartphone will be available in France first, via SFR, on Friday and it'll be available in the US in the coming months through Verizon. Canada will be getting it as well (in the coming months), but the carrier is still unknown right now - Bell launched the original Pre so it could be them again. Check out the Pre 2 portal here.

France's Bouygues Telecom To Offer the Google Nexus One Soon

Labels: , , , ,

France looks like they could be getting their shot at purchasing the Google Nexus One soon. On Bouygues Telecom's website, it's listed (check that out here) but the release date wasn't mentioned. This handset is already available in a couple of different places, but it's definitely good news for Google to keep pushing out the phone as best as they can. The phone may be good, but the sales are slow because of Google only selling it through their own online store.

Bouygues Telecom may actually be selling the handset itself so you'll be able to choose from a bunch of different plan options.

This handset features a 3MP camera, an FM tuner, a touchscreen display (size unknown), 3G connectivity, and social integration. This handset shouldn't be all that expensive and it should be hitting France and Italy this March.

If you're looking for a cheaper Cookie without 3G support then the LG GS290 should be available in mid-March. This should be the direct successor to the current Cookie. We'll see it at MWC, hopefully LG confirms a full spec sheet for us.
