Engadget also points out that it has "a dedicated Telenav button" which means that this phone will also have GPS support. Nothing else is known about this handset, not even the name.

Verizon Going to Test Out LTE aka 4G By the End of the Year in Seattle and Boston

Labels: , , , ,

The title pretty much says it all. Verizon is planning to test out their new 4G (LTE) network in Seattle and Boston sometime by the end of this year. If the Apple tablet gets launched in September, it might not launch on Verizon, since they're too slow. Maybe Apple will delay their tablet for them, but we'll just have to wait and see.

Pegatron Shows Off Freescale Notebook Prototype Again, This Time Alongside the Palm Pre

Labels: , , ,

Here's another photo of the Pegatron Freescale notebook that we spotted back at Computex 2009 in June. This time, you may notice the smartphone beside it, it's the Palm Pre. Apparently, they put these two devices together because they both use the same ARM Cortex A8 architecture. But, the Pegatron Freescale iMX515 notebook has it clocking at 1GHz. This notebook is said to have 3G / GPS support, Bluetooth, WiFi, and 720p capability. This notebook is also capable of playing 3D games and the battery is said to last over 8 hours. However, it still doesn't look like this notebook will get a release in the near future, so don't get your hopes up.

Acer Announce Aspire One Pro 531 Pricing and Veriton N260G Nettop

Labels: , , , , ,

We already know that the Acer Aspire One Pro 531 is official, but we finally have the pricing on this notebook. But first, the Aspire One Pro 531 has a couple of specs you can change to whatever you want. The Aspire One Pro 531 has: up to 2GB of RAM and a 160 / 250GB HDD / 64GB SSD. Depending on what you choose, the price of this notebook can range anywhere between £300 ($495 USD) and £460 ($759 USD). Acer has promised that there will be a model with 3G in the future, so maybe you want to wait for that.

Acer has also announced their new nettop, the Veriton N260G. Like the picture above, you can mount it to the back of your monitor so that it's out of sight. This nettop has: an Atom CPU, up to 2GB of RAM, up to a 160GB HDD, WiFi, an HDMI output, and comes pre-installed with either Vista, XP, or Linux. Thankfully, this nettop doesn't suck too much power and it's pretty cheap. There will be two versions, the home edition and the pro edition and they will be going for £200 ($330 USD) and £290 ($478 USD), respectively. Unfortunately, the release date hasn't been mentioned yet.

Sony Producing 1 Million PS3's This Summer, Hint of PS3 Slim This Fall?

Labels: , , ,

If you don't know, Sony produced around 500,000 PlayStation 3's this Spring, but they are reportedly producing 1 million PlayStation 3's this Summer. Strange, isn't it? Apparently, this recent push could mean that they are planning to produce the Slim PS3 - and release it this Fall. This somewhat lines up with every rumour we've heard of before - well except for the one where it's supposed to be bundled with Madden next month. It could also hint at a possible price cut in the near future, but we don't know yet. These are just all rumours and speculations.

Toshiba Pushing Out a Lot of Flash Memory Chips, Supposedly For iPods and Their Tablet

Labels: , , , ,

The rumour mill is somehow currently still functioning. All the talks about refreshed iPods set for a September launch and I'm sure no one has forgotten about Apple's godly tablet, right? Well, apparently, Toshiba is currently producing a bunch of flash memory chips; these chips are supposedly headed to Apple. I wonder what these could be for? New iPods? Their new tablet? Possibly and probably both. We'll just have to wait for their overpriced products in the future. However, I am thinking about getting an iPod Touch with a camera, it'll be my personal spy cam. More profits for Apple. Joy!

Verizon Posts 21% Profit Drop, Laying Off 8,000 Employees, But Bright Future?

Labels: , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , ,

Looks like it was a bad second quarter for Verizon. Their profits dove down 21% and they have just reported that they will be laying off around 8,000 employees by the end of 2009. And that sucks. The good news is that they look like they could have a strong future. They reaffirmed that they are launching the Palm Pre in early 2010. It looks like they could be launching the Apple tablet by the end of this year / early next year too. They are going to launch the BlackBerry Storm 2 / Thunder in the near future. They could also launch the LG BL40, which will also be a great addition to their line-up. The Samsung Rogue U960, HTC XV6875 (HTC Touch Pro 2), and HTC XV6975 (HTC Touch Diamond 2) looks like it will also get launched as well. The future doesn't look so dim for Verizon - at least, for their sake, I hope.

Next Mintpass Mintpad to Run on Android Instead of Windows CE?

Labels: , , , ,

That's the latest rumour. You may remember the Mintpass Mintpad; it hit Taiwan for around $143 USD running Windows CE. The latest rumour though, mentions that Mintpass may be considering using Android for their next Mintpad. The last Mintpad had a 2.9-inch touchscreen and a plastic body.

An account executive over at Mintpass has just mentioned that, "I can tell you that the next generation mintpass will be quite high in specification, though." This is a good thing, seeing how the first model already had support for Adobe Flash. The next model is expected to have a larger screen, metal body, GPS support, and WiBro (WiMAX in Korea). I'm excited to see how much they improve the next model, especially if they have it running Android.

Labels: , ,

Averatec has just released their latest 13-inch notebook offering, the N3400. This notebook has an aluminum shell and still manages to be one of the thinnest and lightest notebooks in its class. It is only 0.98-inches at its thickest point and weighs only 3.8-pounds. They managed to do this by "bundling a USB-based external DVD burner instead of adding weight to the system's insides."

Apple To Launch Tablet and Refreshed iPods This September

Labels: , , , , , , ,

According to Financial Times, the latest rumour is that Apple will be launching its tablet with their refreshed iPods as early as this September. This tablet will, of course, have WiFi and it's codenamed "Cocktail". This tablet will be sporting a 10-inch [probably capacitive multi-touchscreen] display and it will run on the iPhone OS. What makes this even more interesting is that it will "also have a book marketplace" so you can say goodbye to the Kindle by the end of the year - if the rumour is true. Remember, it's just a rumour, so don't cry if the Apple tablet doesn't come out in under two months.
