Starting on Ferbuary 8th (next Monday), you'll be able to scoop one up unlocked for a whopping 700 Euros. The good news is that it'll be heavily subsidized on an 18-month / 2-year contract. This handset will be a 3-month exclusive on this carrier.

Sony Ericsson XPERIA X2 Finally Set To Launch In April?

Labels: , , ,

The Sony Ericsson XPERIA X2 has been delayed countless times and it looks like it could be getting a launch this April in some countries. Of course, in America it'll be called the X2a. We don't know where it'll launch but it's already been dropped by Vodafone UK at this point. Let's hope this one hits the market before the XPERIA X10... actually it doesn't really matter.

Labels: , , , ,

Finally! After a long delay the Sony Ericsson XPERIA X2 looks like it'll be gracing the North American shores soon with this new X2a model which is found on the Sony US site. We don't know if it'll get a Windows Mobile 7 upgrade but we do know that it'll be a WinMo 6.5 handset whenever it launches.

Vodafone No Longer Planning On Selling the Sony Ericsson XPERIA X2

Labels: , , , ,

Looks like Vodafone was fed up with Sony Ericsson's constant delays. They are no longer planning on launching the XPERIA X2 anymore. This is bad news for customers and especially Sony Ericsson because I don't think anyone wants to launch this handset anymore. WMPowerUser points out that "small dealers" will reportedly start selling it - we saw one yesterday. That sucks.

Sony Ericsson XPERIA X2 Now Available Online For €500, $710 USD, $800 CAD

Labels: , ,

It looks like Plemix (an e-tailer) now has the Sony Ericsson XPERIA X2 available for €490 ($707 USD and $800 CAD). It could be a bit high priced at this point since it's rocking last year's Qualcomm CPU. The rest of the specs are great, but it does seem a bit overpriced. If you've been waiting for it though, go out and get it now. It's a WinMo 6.5 handset.

Vodafone Delays Sony Ericsson XPERIA X2 Until January; It's a Sad Day.

Labels: , , , , ,

It was supposed to be available in early November but a couple of people have been waiting and waiting for this Windows Mobile powered device to be released by Vodafone. Unfortunately, Vodafone has pushed the release of the Sony Ericsson XPERIA X2 until January 2010. This is definitely sad news because it would've made a good Christmas present for some people. Check it out on Vodafone's site if you don't believe me.

This news really sucks and I hope the XPERIA X10 doesn't get delayed as well... but you never know.

European Sony Ericsson XPERIA X2 Passes the FCC, Headed To Vodafone

Labels: , , , , , , ,

It looks like the FCC has granted the Sony Ericsson XPERIA X2 access to the world. This handset has everything you'd expect, so WinMo 6.5 is on-board and so is an optical trackpad. This X2 doesn't have US 3G since it's the European model. This handset is expected to get launched on Vodafone pretty soon - November 6th if the leaks are true. Check out the official listing here.

Labels: , , , , , , , ,

According to this very blurry photo, the Sony Ericsson XPERIA X2 will be launching on Vodafone on November 6th for an undetermined price. On the other hand, the LG GM750 looks like it will be available on Friday, October 2 for free on at least a £25 monthly plan. Let's hope that both of these phones launch in North America.

Possibly Fake Unboxing of the XPERIA X3; Definitely Real Unboxing of the XPERIA X2

Labels: , , , , , ,

A recent new unboxing has just been found online and it's the phone that takes my number one spot on my top 10 phone list: it's the Sony Ericsson XPERIA X3. A couple of sources are saying that the unboxing is fake, but it doesn't really matter to me. The XPERIA X3 is definitely the handset I want in my possession next year - either this or the HTC Leo. The Phandroid link below has a ton of pictures, so it's definitely worth a look.

On a side note, Engadget Mobile got the scoop on the unboxing of the XPERIA X2. Check it out here.

Sony Ericsson XPERIA X2's Price Tag Unofficially Revealed

Labels: , , , ,

Although the Sony Ericsson XPERIA X2 hit Expansys sometime last week, the price seemed to be a bit high. Sony Ericsson has apparently confirmed that the XPERIA X2 will be launching for somewhere between 590 euros ($865 USD) and 600 euros ($880 USD) when it launches in Europe in a couple of months. The XPERIA X2 is definitely in the running to be one of the best WinMo phones to date and could possibly be the last WinMo handset that Sony Ericsson ever makes.

A week ago we heard that the Sony Ericsson XPERIA X2 will launch as early as next month and yesterday we heard about Vodafone having it for pre-order with an expected availability in November. Now Expansys has a listing for the XPERIA X2. The expected availability is January 11, 2010 and it's priced at £604.99 ($1,008 USD). Sony Ericsson XPERIA X2 Hitting Italy In Late October; XPERIA X2 Panels SDK Now Available

Labels: , , , , ,

According to the latest unconfirmed news, the Sony Ericsson XPERIA X2 will be coming to Italy between October 19th and October 31st this year for €500 ($714 USD) to €600 ($855 USD). The XPERIA X2 will come with a TV out cable, a 4GB microSD card in the box, and Gokio GPS navigation application pre-installed, which is pretty surprising.

Along with the news, Sony Ericsson has announced that the Panels SDK for the XPERIA X2 is now available. "The Panelizer can transform existing Java, Windows Mobile and Flash applications into Xperia X2 panels. You can download the Panels SDK from here. After you've created your X2 panels, you can upload them here. If your panels/applications are accepted, they will appear in Sony Ericsson's PlayNow arena (currently available in 18 countries)."

Sony Ericsson XPERIA X2 Now Official, Rocking OLED Display, 8.1MP Camera and WinMo 6.5

Labels: , , , , , , ,

Now that these specs are confirmed, I can bump it up on my top 10 phone list. At IFA, Sony decided to announce the Sony Ericsson XPERIA X2 to crash Nokia World. The XPERIA X2 has amazing features: a 3.2-inch (not 3.5-inch) OLED touchscreen display with a 480 x 800 resolution, an 8.1MP AF camera with touch focus and 16x digital zoom, quad-band GSM/GRPS/EDGE / tri-band UMTS/HSPA support, aGPS support, a Qualcomm MSM 7200 528MHz CPU, 512MB of RAM, a microSD card slot, a 3.5mm headphone jack, WiFi, TV out, Bluetooth with DLNA support, a 4GB microSD card in the box, and Windows Mobile 6.5. Although it's no XPERIA X3, the XPERIA X2 is looking like a mighty fine handset. This is expected to launch in "select markets" in Q4 of this year with a version rocking WCDMA 850/1900/2100 MHz bands.

Update: Engadget got their first hands-on with this device. They've mentioned that it has a flashy / gimmicky home screen and they dislike the resistive touchscreen. Below is Engadget Mobile's hands-on video.

Update: WMPowerUser has just found out that the XPERIA X2 will be exclusive to Vodafone in the UK for a little while. The release is also pegged for "early Q4 2009" which probably means shortly after WinMo 6.5 / Windows Phone get officially released on October 6th.

Sony Ericsson XPERIA X2 to Be Officially Announced Next Week?

Labels: , , ,

According to the latest rumours, the Sony Ericsson XPERIA X2 will be officially announced next week at Sony Ericsson's press event. This handset is definitely an improvement over the XPERIA X1, but will it be enough? This handset is supposed to run WinMo 6.5 and we heard that it's going to be upgradeable to WinMo 7, but with WinMo 7 being delayed, it's not certain yet.

XPERIA Day: Sony Ericsson XPERIA "Rachael" X3 Confirmed; More Pictures of the XPERIA X2

Labels: , , , ,

So much for Sony Ericsson skipping the XPERIA X3 "due to negative connotations." The Sony Ericsson "Rachael" aka XPERIA X3 has just been confirmed by the online retailer Expansys! The XPERIA X3 has: a 4-inch display with a 400 x 800 resolution, an 8MP camera, dual-band 900/2100MHz HSDPA / HSUPA, Bluetooth 2.1, WiFi b/g, aGPS, a microSDHC card slot, miniUSB connectivity, and a 3.5mm headphone jack.

The camera has 8x digital zoom, LED flash, image stabilization, smile shutter, face detection, and it can also record VGA 30fps videos. The display is guessed to be capacitive, since all of the Android handsets so far have been capacitive. Don't forget that this is running Android. This is definitely the best phone that Sony Ericsson has announced thus far, let's hope they continue this trend. Surprisingly enough, you can now pre-order your XPERIA X3 today, however there's no price listed on the Expansys site.

What you see above is another picture of the Sony Ericsson XPERIA X2, which we've known about for quite some time. Don't forget that this is another one of Sony Ericsson's better handsets - like the XPERIA X3. The X2 has: a 3.5-inch OLED WVGA touchscreen display, an 8.1MP AF camera capable of shooting VGA video at 30fps, 512MB of RAM, GPS, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. This handset will run on a customized WinMo 6.5 and will be upgradeable to WinMo 7. The price and availability have not been mentioned yet. Sony Ericsson Announcing Something Tomorrow, Could it Be the XPERIA X2 and Rachael?

Labels: , , , ,

According to Sony Ericsson North America's official Twitter account they will be announcing something tomorrow. We don't know what it is yet, but I hope that it's the Sony Ericsson XPERIA X2 and the XPERIA "Rachael." This is all wishful hoping though, since Sony Ericsson could announce any of their upcoming handsets. I just hope it's the two high-end phones that we actually care about, since Sony Ericsson is going downhill.
