HP Pavilion dv3t Is Now Available For $799

Labels: , ,

The HP Pavilion dv3t has just been officially launched. The dv3t has: a 13.3-inch display with a 16:9 aspect ratio, Intel's Core 2 Duo T6400 CPU, Blu-ray, a 500GB HDD, and a 9-cell battery that reportedly has a battery life of 7 hours, but that's probably not true, especially for an HP Pavilion. This notebook will be available in 2 colours: Moonlight White (above) and Expresso Black (below). It's now available at a base price of $799 USD, but expect to pay much more if you opt for some better specs, of course.

Hualu's 5-Inch MID Is An iPod Touch In Disguise

Labels: , , ,

It looks like it to me. It's got the physical looks and the icons to represent a larger iPod Touch. Looks are deceiving though because this is the Hualu UCG501 MID and it has a 5-inch touchscreen display with an 800 x 480 resolution and is running Windows XP. This MID also uses Intel's Menlow platform which means there's a 1.1GHz or 1.3GHz processor in there somewhere. It also has 3G, GPS, Bluetooth 2.0, an optical mouse pointer, WiFi, a 4,700mAh battery, and USB, VGA, and Ethernet connections. I don't know how much storage this MID has or the price or the availability, so I'll get that for you as soon as it is announced.

PSP 2 Is "Real," PS3 Price Cut To Be Announced At E3

Labels: , , , , ,

Yes, the PSP 2 is "real," and that's according to Insider Source. Apparently, Sony reps have already shown off the so-called PSP 2 and someone has mentioned some of the physical features. This includes: rounded edges, dual analog sticks, a small sliding screen, similar size and thickness as the current PSP and no UMD drive. No, this reoccurring picture is still not a real picture of the rumoured PSP 2, so don't get your hopes up. Patapon 2 looks like it is the test dummy for the PSP 2 and if it fails, they could scrap the PSP 2 as a whole and bring back the UMD. We'll see happens at E3

This is yet another so-called "confirmed" news. Remember that PS3 price cut? Well, it looks like that $100 USD price cut will be announced at E3 this year by Sony. Like the PSP 2, we'll see what happens at E3. I'm excited and I really hope it's a big event for Sony.

Nintendo Europe Says There Are No Plans For Skype On The DSi

Labels: , ,

Aww, sorry Nintendo DSi users. It was only 2 days ago where we heard that Skype on the DSi is possible. Unfortunately, Nintendo Europe has spoken out and said, "We have no plans to release a Skype application for Nintendo DS or DSi." As of right now, Nintendo DSi users must be disappointed. Too bad for them.

New Broadcom Chip Has Bluetooth 3.0, WiFi, and FM Radio; Could Be In the Next iPod Touch

Labels: , , , ,

Broadcom makes Apple's iPod Touch Bluetooth chips and here's a look at their newest chip. The Broadcom BCM4325 has Bluetooth 3.0, WiFi, and FM radio capabilities. This could be utilized in the next iPod Touch, but don't count on the FM radio being activated. The current chip for the iPod Touch has FM radio capabilities, but it doesn't have the feature unlocked so thank Apple for that. I'm excited to see what other specs the next iPod Touch will have because I'm interested in getting one with Bluetooth 3.0 and maybe some 802.11n wireless capabilities.

LG Env3 To Have 3 Megapixel Camera

Labels: , , , ,

Just like it was predicted earlier this month, the LG Env3 looks like it has been spotted with a 3MP camera. The camera will also have "Intelligent Shot", which is also included in the very sexy Viewty (II) Smart. Besides the recent 1 megapixel camera bump, the Env3 also sports a tweaked QWERTY keyboard, but nothing else is known about this fairly mysterious and underwhelming handset.

Toshiba Updates Qosmio and Dynabook SS RX2 and Announces the Mini NB200 Netbook

Labels: , , , , , ,

Like the Dell Studio 15 laptop yesterday, Toshiba has decided to update their Qosmio and Dynabook laptops. The Qosmio and Dynabook laptops will now come with Intel Core 2 Duo CPUs and the Nvidia GeForce 9600M GT graphics card. The Qosmio will come in 2 flavours: an 18.4-inch G50 ($3,421 USD) and a 15.4-inch FX ($2,119 USD). The Dynabook SS RX2, on the other hand, will come with a 128GB SSD and will cost an expensive $2,840 USD. They're now available in Japan, so unless you're willing to get it shipped over here, then your luck has run out.

The Toshiba Mini NB200 was just announced by Toshiba UK and it is the European version of the Dynabook UX that I talked about 2 days ago. The NB200 will have your choice of either a 1.6GHz N270 Atom CPU or a 1.66 GHz N280 Atom CPU, a 10.1-inch display with a 1,024 x 600 resolution, Intel's integrated 945GSE graphics, a 160GB HDD, WiFi, optional 3G, Bluetooth, an integrated VGA webcam, and 3 USB 2.0 ports. This netbook will be available in the UK next month and will have a base price of £319 ($465 USD). Almost forgot to mention the best part, which is a 9-cell battery that is expected to last 9 hours.

EagleTec USB Nano Flash Drive Is Really Tiny and Comes In 4 and 8GB

Labels: ,

It took me a while to find it - even in this picture. The new EagleTec USB Nano flash drive is extremely tiny, measuring at just 19 x 15 x 6mm. This USB drive weighs just 3 grams, has 4 and 8GB models and has 15Mb/s read rates and 6Mb/s write speeds. It's pretty impressive, but I wonder how hard it is to take the sucked out, especially with oily chicken-grease hands. This USB drive is now available for $22 USD (4GB) and $33 USD (8GB), which I think is a sweet deal.

Asus P30A Officially Announced Today

Labels: , , , ,

I'm not going to say "launched" because it makes it seem like it's available already. Anyways, the P30A notebook that you might remember from over a week ago was officially announced today. Apparently, it is targeted for the business users out there. The P30A looks like it is going green with a 1.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo ULV CPU. Other specs include: a 13.3-inch LED-backlit display with a 1,366 x 768 resolution, up to 4GB of RAM, up to 320GB of HDD storage, Bluetooth 2.1, WiFi, 3G, an integrated 1.3MP webcam, HDMI, and a DVD writer. The P30A will also be sporting Intel's Anti-Theft technology, but that's probably optional. As of right now, the Asus P30A has no official price or availability date. I read a couple of days ago that CMOS is "criticizing" Asus for including a 1.3MP camera on top of the CULV CPU, but I don't really understand what they're talking about. If you want to go check out that article you can click on this link.

Sharp KDDI Phone Is Waterproof and Has A Solar Panel; Expected This June

Labels: , ,

This new KDDI phone will be releasing under the Sharp name and it is waterproof. The spec sheet hasn't been revealed yet, but some bright information has. By bright I'm talking about a solar panel that will recharge your phone to 80%. They haven't mentioned how long it will take to get to 80%, but it will get there eventually. KDDI has claimed that "10 minutes of sun absorption should grant two hours of standy, or a minute or so of talk time." That may not be a whole lot, but it's better than nothing. The price has not been mentioned yet, but people in Japan should see this phone released this June.

Acer Aiming For The Top 5; Eight New Phones; And Android "Likely" By The End Of This Year

Labels: , , , , , , , , , , , , ,

Acer is actually looking quite strong this year with their new handsets. The only thing bringing them down is the fact that most of them are running on WinMo 6.1 - which is terrible. Acer mentioned today that they are aiming to be one of the top 5 smartphone vendors by 2012. That's a huge feat for them, but if they make it there I'd be happy for them. Before I talk about Acer's 8 new phones, I should inform you all that they mentioned that it is "likely" that we will see their Android phone by the end of this year and that's great news.

LG LH90 LED-Backlit HDTVs Rocking 240Hz Gets A Price

Labels: , ,

LG is really stepping up their game lately, and I love it. Today, LG has announced 3 new LH90 LED-backlit HDTV sets with 240Hz technology and a bright 2,000,000:1 contrast ratio. "There's also THX certification and a USB port that can not only be used to display photos and music from attached storage but also DivX video files. An ambient light sensor can save energy use by more than 70-percent by adjusting backlighting to suit the room, and there are integrated 'hidden' speakers." This is a very sexy TV and I'd get one - if I had the money. For the 42-inch model you're looking at around $2,449 USD; the 47-inch model will be around $3,116 USD; the 55-inch model will be around $4,749 USD. Skytone's Android Netbook / Tablet Is Embarassing Spec-Wise

Labels: , , , , ,

This is not a good look for Android. This netbook / tablet may look decent at first, but wait until you hear the spec sheet. This latest device from Skytone (dubbed the Alpha 680) has a 7-inch display with an 800 x 480 resolution, a 533MHz ARM CPU, only 128MB of RAM (up to 256MB), 1GB of storage (up to 4GB), 2 USB 2.0 ports, WiFi, possible 3G, an 4-in-1 card slot, and it will run Android. Although the specs are pretty bad, this may prove something. Judging from my knowledge (I could be wrong), this could mean that Android could be capable of running on a lower-end device than Linux can, which I think is pretty amazing. Still, a netbook / tablet coming out nowadays with only a 533MHz processor is kind of lame. The good thing is that if it does make its way to the market, it will cost around $100 USD - even though I think that's still expensive.

Android Is Now Accompanied By A Cupcake

Labels: ,

In real life, that is. Android users are still waiting for Cupcake to officially launch on their handsets. In the meantime, you can make yourself hungry for a giant cupcake. It is almost lunchtime, so it's good preparation - I guess. This shot is taken from, of course, the Google campus.
