Samsung SGH-I897 Passes Bluetooth SIG, Extremely Similar Specs To the Galaxy S

Labels: , , , , ,

Another awesome Samsung handset has just been spotted at the Bluetooth SIG, the SGH-I897, and it's sporting awfully similar specs to the Galaxy S. The phone sports a 4-inch AMOLED touchscreen display, Bluetooth 3.0, quad-band GSM connectivity, and the Android OS. Could it just be the Galaxy S for another region or could it be the Galaxy S Pro?

Update: According to Unwired View, this new variation is extremely similar to the GT-I9000. The only difference is the bands that it runs on so this could likely be the model headed to AT&T in the US. Of course, it could also hit Rogers in Canada.

Samsung SHW-M120S To Be the World's First Android Handset With Bluetooth 3.0

Labels: , , , , , ,

Bluetooth 3.0 should be kicking off very soon, seeing how version 4.0 is expected by the end of this year. The first Android phone to sport Bluetooth 3.0 looks like it could be from Samsung - who is also releasing the world's first Bluetooth 3.0 phone (2 different phones, sorry to confuse you). This handset (dubbed the SHW-M120S) will be utilizing a 3.3-inch WVGA (Super?) AMOLED touchscreen display, a 5MP AF camera, WiFi / GPS support, HSDPA / GSM connectivity, and the Android 2.1 OS. This one looks like it could be a phone to look out for.

Update: According to Engadget, the picture above is what the handset might look like.

Bluetooth 4.0 Devices Said To Be Coming In Q4 Of This Year, What About 3.0?

Labels: ,

Nowadays Bluetooth 2.0 / 2.1 is standard in all devices and Bluetooth 3.0 is pretty rare to find these days. Apparently, Bluetooth 4.0 is ready and will actually hit some devices by Q4 of this year. This is pretty surprising, seeing how Bluetooth 3.0 is still rare to find these days. I wonder how fast version 4.0 will be since 3.0 is said to be blazing fast when it reaches its maximum potential.

Samsung GT-S8500 To Be the World's First Bluetooth 3.0 Handset

Labels: , , , , , ,

It's rare to find anything with Bluetooth 3.0 support these days, but it will be a normal thing in the future. For now, the first handset that looks like it will be getting the Bluetooth 3.0 treatment is the Samsung GT-S8500. Unfortunately that seems to be the only thing that seems to be desirable right now. We do know that this handset will feature EDGE / GPRS connectivity, a 3.1-inch OLED (probably touchscreen) display, and the TouchWiz UI. We don't know if this will be one of Samsung's first handsets running Bada but we'll hopefully see it at MWC in two weeks. Check out the Bluetooth SIG here.

Google Nexus One Bluetooth Dock Now Available For $45

Labels: , , , ,

It looks like that Google Nexus One dock is actually available now. It's going for $45 and is, of course, sold separately. The dock itself has a 3.5mm headphone jack that you can connect to your stereo system, but it also has integrated Bluetooth so that you can play your music to some speakers wirelessly. Awesome stuff.

Google Nexus One Bluetooth Dock Passes FCC; Ugly Car Clip Spotted In the Wild Too

Labels: , , , , ,

Spotted at the FCC this morning is a new Bluetooth dock for the Google Nexus One. At this point, I don't know why the dock has Bluetooth, since the Nexus One itself has Bluetooth, but we'll have to wait and see when this all goes down early next year. Check out the FCC filing here.

Update: There's also another Nexus One product that was spotted and it's below (courtesy of Engadget). It's the Nexus One car clip and someone decided to snap a picture of it in their car. Luckily when you place the phone on it, it hides the ugly.

Sony Ericsson Debuts Hazel, Elm and New Bluetooth (VH700) Headset

Labels: , , , ,

Sony Ericsson has just announced two more handsets as a part of their Greenheart line-up and they've also shown us the VH700 Bluetooth headset. The Hazel (above) and the Elm (below) both feature 5MP AF cameras with an LED flash and geo-tagging support. The Hazel is slider (clearly) that has a 2.6-inch display and the Elm is a candybar handset that has a smaller 2.2-inch display. They both have a 320 x 240 resolution though. "The devices support GSM and EDGE for the 850/900/1,800/1,900MHz bands but is limited to 900/2,100MHz bands for its HSPA-based 3G." The Hazel will be available in Spring 2010 and the Elm will be available in Q1 2010.

The VH700 Bluetooth headset below is pretty sweet too. It has two microphones so that you can cancel out the background noise when you're talking. This headset is Bluetooth 2.1 capable and can actually connect to two different handsets at the same time. This will be available in the Spring time.

Apple Patent Signals Wireless Earphones That Have Mp3 Player Built Right In

Labels: , , ,

What you see above is a photo of Apple's latest patent for wireless headphones that integrate the media player straight into the headphone itself. Like the picture above also depicts it could also have a tiny display so that you can see what you're playing if you take it out of your ear. "Apple suggests it could use USB to offload content directly to a computer or else use the headset's wireless, which could involve Bluetooth, RF or even infrared to sync content wirelessly." This does seem like a fairly neat idea, but it does have its flaws. Make sure it doesn't fall out of your ear...

Apple Reveals New iMacs, Plastic Unibody MacBooks, Mac Mini / Mac Mini Server, New Apple Magic Mouse and Even a Remote

Labels: , , , , , , ,

As expected Apple have just updated their iMacs, their plastic MacBooks, their Mac Mini, and have released their new Magic Mouse (replacing the Mighty Mouse). The new iMacs now come in 21.5 (1,920 x 1,080 resolution) and 27-inch (2,560 x 1,440 resolution) sizes (larger than the old 20 and 24-inch models) and they sport a 16:9 aspect ratio, an IPS panel, and a 178-degree viewing angle. These LED-backlit iMacs come packed with: Intel Core 2 Duo / Core i7 / Core i5 CPU options, an SD card, an optical drive, up to 16GB of RAM, up to a 2TB HDD, Nvidia GeForce 9400M / ATI Radeon HD 4670 graphics. The 21.5 and 27-inch iMacs are now available for $1,199 USD and $1,699 USD, respectively. These new iMacs come with Apple's wireless keyboard and mouse. Yeup, no Blu-ray here. Check it on Apple's website here.

The plastic "low-end" MacBooks got a slight design overhaul now sporting a unibody design - with a curvy body. They still feature an LED-backlit display and a multitouch trackpad, so that's good. The cheapest MacBook still costs $999 USD, but will feature: a 2.26GHz CPU, 2GB of RAM (up to 8GB), Nvidia GeForce 9400M graphics, and a 250GB HDD. The new MacBooks are slightly thinner than the old models and, of course, a non-swappable battery that should last 7 hours. Check it out on Apple's website here.

Apple has also decided to slightly upgrade their Mac Minis. They may look the same, but as usual it's the internal components that have changed. The new $599 Mac Mini now features: a 2.26GHz Core 2 Duo CPU, 2GB of RAM, and a 160GB HDD. The higher-end $799 USD model now features: a 2.53GHz Core 2 Duo CPU, 4GB of RAM, and a 320GB HDD. Thankfully, both models also come packed with an 8x SuperDrive and the same Nvidia GeForce 9400M graphics.

Apple also went on to introduce a Mac Mini server. The Mac Mini server throws away the optical drive and allow you to sub in a second hard drive. The $999 model comes packed with: two 500GB HDDs (that's 1TB in total, kiddos!), an Intel Core 2 Duo 2.53GHz CPU, 4GB of RAM, Nvidia GeForce 9400M graphics, and, sadly, no DisplayPort. Check it out on Apple's website here.

The only absolutely positively new product from Apple today is what you see above: The Apple Magic Mouse - that replaces the Mighty Mouse. This Bluetooth mouse appears to have no buttons, but it actually sports a "multitouch surface." Like the MacBook trackpads, you'll be able to use multitouch gestures, but it will not feature pinch and zoom, which sucks - I guess. Apple has mentioned that this mouse will last four months and it's now available for $69.99 USD. Check it out on Apple's website here - by the way, it comes with the iMac if you choose the right option.

Update: According to Engadget, Apple has also released a new Apple remote with an aluminum body that costs $19 USD. If you're lazy enough to own this, then you'll be able to control your iPod, your iPhone, or your Mac without even touching them. If you want to control your iPod / iPhone, you'll of course have to spend another $49 on a dock. Check it out on Apple's website here.

Gizmodo Reviews the Jabra Stone Bluetooth Headset, Launching For $130 On November 8th At AT&T

Labels: , , , , ,

Remember the Jabra Stone? Well, it looks like Gizmodo has somewhat reviewed that Bluetooth headset. I won't spoil anything for ya, but they do mention that it's quite expensive at $130 USD and that it will be available starting on November 8th at your local AT&T store. Jabra likely picked the "Stone" name because it looks like a small pebble when it is attached to its dock. Anyways, check out their somewhat full review here.

Apple Looking To Add Multitouch Gestures to Their Mighty Mouse, Also Updating iMac Remote? -- New Bluetooth Mouse and Keyboard Pass FCC!

Labels: , , , , , , ,

According to the rumours, Apple is looking to refresh their iMacs, Mac Minis, and even their Mighty Mouse (mock picture above). The rumours state that the Mighty Mouse will receive "significant" changes later this year and Steve Jobs is actually thinking about putting multi-touch technology into this mouse. Steve Jobs has been working pretty damn hard lately and if this is a success expect a Windows mouse to do the exact same thing.

Update: Apple could also be working on new remotes for their iMacs as well.

Update: According to Electronista and Engadget, it looks like a new Apple Bluetooth keyboard and mouse has just made its way passed the FCC (check out the filing here) with model numbers A1314 and A1296. The Bluetooth keyboard is a bit smaller than the current model, so there'll be no numeric keypad on the side. This could be included in the still rumoured iMac refresh, so look out for it. Check out the mouse filing here and the keyboard filing here.

BlackBerry Launching HS-500 Bluetooth Headset Soon

Labels: , , , , ,

We heard about this Bluetooth headset back in August and it looks like RIM will be releasing it soon. If you live in Canada you should know that you're not allowed to use your mobile phones while you drive anymore - unless you use a Bluetooth headset or, I guess, put it on speakerphone since it won't be glued to your face. The BlackBerry HS-500 Bluetooth headset will be launching for $89.99 USD and seems to be "coming soon." Features are below. On a side note, whatever happened to that BlackBerry watch?

Some of the features include:
- Call control button – control calling features like, answer, end, mute and
voice activateddialing
- Automatic volume control and noise cancellation – hear and be heard loud and clear in noisy environments
- Works with selected third-party GPS mapping
applications – listen to turn-by-turn directions

Microsoft Releases Thin Bluetooth Mobile Keyboard and Number Pad For $90 and $50

Labels: , , ,

Microsoft has just announced and released their Bluetooth Mobile keyboard and number pad. As you can see, they're both really thin and they actually look pretty sleek. Although I still prefer the Logitech Wave, this keyboard takes a close second place. The keyboard is now available for $90 and the number pad is another $50. Check it out on Microsoft's official website here.

Labels: , , , , ,

T-Mobile will be launching another Android-based handset the Samsung Behold 2, codenamed SGH-T939. The design description is the best part of this Bluetooth SIG sheet. Motorola Sholes Gets Bluetooth SIG Certificate, Codenamed A855

Labels: , , ,

Look what has just got some Bluetooth SIG love, it's the Motorola Sholes, codenamed A855. This codename is somewhat close to the A455 codename of the Motorola Rival, but I doubt that this will be the Rival 2. This Android-based handset looks great and it has CDMA / Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR support. Verizon, here it comes!

RIM Launching BlackBerry Bluetooth Watch and Bluetooth Headset

Labels: , , , , ,

RIM's vice president, Antoine Boucher, has just confirmed that they are working on a Bluetooth watch. This watch will allow a user to receive: e-mail alerts, BlackBerry Messenger / SMS messages, tweets, and Facebook notifications. The watch could also transfer music and videos to your BlackBerry smartphone as well.

Boucher also confirmed that they are working on their BlackBerry Bluetooth headset too, which is codenamed Alpha 1. This is interesting because this morning the BlackBerry HS500 headset was spotted on Bluetooth SIG, so this could be it. Any other information you're craving will have to wait until a later date.

HTC Twin Passes Bluetooth SIG, Possibly Headed to China Unicom With Windows Phone / WinMo 6.5

Labels: , , , , ,

It's been a while since we've heard anything about the HTC Twin - four months to be exact. The HTC Twin has just passed the Bluetooth SIG and it looks like it will have: Bluetooth 2.0 + EDR [of course], a 2.8-inch VGA or QVGA display, CDMA / GSM support, and a 3.2MP camera. This phone is also expected to run Windows Phone / WinMo 6.5 and is supposedly headed to China Unicom. If the rumoured specs from March are true, we should also expect a Qualcomm 7501A 518MHz CPU.

Samsung Readying the Release of the S9110 Watch Phone and i920 Handset

Labels: , , , , ,

It looks like Samsung is definitely ready to climb their way to get to Nokia's top spot on the global mobile phone market. The Samsung GT-S9110 handset has just surpassed the Bluetooth SIG and it reportedly has Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR / A2DP and WiFi. The other phone that has also passed the Bluetooth SIG and the FCC is the Samsung SCH-i920. The SCH-i920, I believe, is scheduled to be the Samsung I8000 Omnia II - the successor to the Samsung Omnia (SCH-i900). Check out the Omnia II's full spec sheet here.

Update on July 22nd: According to Engdaget, the GT-S9110 is actually Samsung's first watch phone. What's interesting here is that it will be the first watch phone to hit the market, since it will hit France this month! It will also cost much cheaper than LG's watch phone, it will hit France with only a €450 ($639 USD) price tag. Take that LG.
