Acer A1 Expected In September; Running Android
Pictured above is the Acer C1 which could be one of Acer's phones expected to be released this year alongside their Android device. But according to Philippine Business Mirror, the Acer A1 is expected to run Android and is expected to be released in September of this year. It will launch alongside 3 other handsets which could include the C1 (pictured above), F1, E1, L1 or just about any other Acer handset. I hope the A1 is a nice-looking touchscreen phone because I don't want to see Android running on a crappy device. According to analysts, Android is going to surpass the iPhone's market share by 2012.

LG LH70 HDTVs, Stolen WinMo 6.5 Phones, Next PSP, Firefox 3.1
LG's new LH70 HDTVs are almost available... in Korea, that is. The 2 models are 42 and 47 inches and are just 39.7mm and 40.9mm thin, respectively. The HDTVs will have a 100,000:1 contrast ratio, 120Hz technology (to get rid of the blurring that you probably barely notice), 2ms response time, a USB port and will apparently have Bluetooth. There is no word on the price or availability and the chances of this coming out of Korea is slim, but I still hope it does.
Remember when Microsoft's prototype got stolen at MWC? Well luckily for Microsoft, they were able to wipe all of their "secret" information off of that phone shortly after it got snatched. Looks like the thief was in for a surprise when he went to go look at Microsoft's secret information. Deuce on you!
Go to this link, if you want to read up on some of the new features that will be in Firefox 3.1. On a side note, Firefox 3.1 will not be available in the first quarter of 2009.

Dell Inspiron Mini 10, Asus Eee PC 1000HE, STD Results Via Text, LG News: Netbook, 12MP Cameraphone
The Dell Inspiron Mini 10 is finally available on Dell's official website. It will be available on February 26, but you can get your orders in now. You will be getting the Mini 10, which has: "a 10.1-inch display, 802.11b/g WiFi, optional Bluetooth 2.1, HDMI out, an external DVD drive, upwards of 160GB of HDD space, 1GB of RAM, a keyboard that's 92 percent the size of a standard laptop, a multitouch trackpad, 720p media playback, optional WWAN, an internal TV tuner and your choice of a 3-cell (3 hours) or 6-cell (6.5 hours) battery." Call that a sweet deal, why don't you. 6.5 hours of battery life on a Dell notebook. While it may not be as long as the Asus EEE PC 1000HE's projected 9.5-hour battery life, it's still decent. Personally, i like the black and white models, cause i don't really enjoy having vibrant colours on my laptop.
On to the LOL news of the day. This is about getting your STD results sent to your phone. You may be too scared to receive the news that you've got an STD face-to-face so, in London, you can now receive the results via text messaging. It's funny, but at the same time it can attract many people to getting tested. I think the picture is hilarious though because the phone is running Windows Mobile (fail) and the sad face is just icing on the cake.
At MWC LG announced a new netbook. The LG-X120 has pre-loaded Windows XP, the Intel Atom N270 1.6GHz processor, an integrated 1.3MP webcam, 1GB DDR2 RAM, WiFi, Bluetooth, and 3 USB ports. This 10.1-inch screened netbook also has a matte surface, so that it won't attract any of those nasty fingerprints. The best feature about this netbook is the "Smart-On" interface, "which basically allows the user to access the most frequently used programs just a few seconds after hitting the power button, without waiting for the operating system to completely load the desktop." This feature is currently trying to plague all PCs, notebooks and netbooks, so it's good to see that LG is trying it out. We all hate waiting 1 - 2 minutes in order for our desktops to fully load, so good job LG for satisfying our needs.
LG also said something else at MWC. LG mentioned that they are going to be releasing a 12MP cameraphone. Woop-ti-doo. No one cares anymore. People need to wake up and realize that megapixels aren't everything. I want optical zoom, so the first company to surprise me with optical zoom on their phone wins. Get on that LG. I still haven't seen or heard from Samsung's 12 megapixel cameraphone, so who knows when that will be released. The Sony Ericsson Idou was the only physical 12MP cameraphone that was available.Dell Inspiron Mini 10 (and picture): http://www.engadget.com/2009/02/20/inspiron-mini-10-finally-shows-up-at-dells-website/

Microsoft Prototype Stolen, Killzone 2 To Get Co-op?, Sprint Locks Up The Pre For 2009, Philips GoGear PMPs, Asus Netbook Running Android
Killzone 2 may be reportedly getting co-op as DLC in the future. I don't know if you remember, but Sony mentioned about a month ago that there "are no plans for co-op in Killzone 2." Sony just loves to upset their fans and then reward them later. Well, most of the time there is a reward, at least.
If you're hoping to get the Palm Pre on a different carrier (other than Sprint) then you may be out of luck. A new report says that "the Pre is Sprint's exclusively for 2009." The Palm Pre will be the first phone to feature the new WebOS platform. But, it's only the first of many other multi-tasking phones that will be available running this OS, so no need to panic. Unless you really like the Pre and i think it's going to be a great device.
Philips will be releasing two PMPs that will be released in Europe this April. As of right now, there is no release date scheduled for North America, but i'll give you the rundown of these 2 PMPs anyway. The smaller 2-inch PMP is the GoGear Ariaz. It will have your choice of 4GB, 8GB or 16GB of memory, has FM radio, a built-in mic and has a combination of touchscreen buttons and the "large rocker key" for your navigating. The updated 2.8-inch display version is called the GoGear Opus. It will have Bluetooth and your choice of 8GB, 16GB or 32GB of memory. The prices of these PMPs will range from the $100 - $230 USD (€79 - €179) price range.
The Google OS looks like it's finally here. It opened up with Android running on the Google phone, the T-Mobile G1. Android began to expand to more phones and is continuing its growth. Asus is now working on a new netbook running Android, the Google OS, which is interesting. Because of the fact that Windows XP is running on 80-90% of all netbooks, this would make Google a strong competitor for Microsoft's Windows. If all things go according to plan, Android will continue to gain popularity and will expand to notebooks and PCs. Believe it folks, the Google OS is here. Asus have mentioned that they plan on releasing the Android-based netbook by the end of the year. It is said to already be in development.Microsoft Prototype Stolen (and picture): http://apple20.blogs.fortune.cnn.com/2009/02/19/top-secret-microsoft-prototype-stolen-in-barcelona/?source=yahoo_quote

Rogers Will Have 4G By 2010, Wii's and PS3's (and 360's) Audience, BenQ nScreen i91, Haier's Devices, Maingear Prelude 2 Is 3D
For some Canadian news today, a strong rumour has it that Rogers is slowly gearing up towards 4G services by 2010. February 2010, to be exact. It may be first hitting Vancouver before anywhere else, but whatever. "The company also reportedly promises fast downstream speeds in real conditions. A connection without any optimization produces about 50Mbps. Techniques to optimize the link would net about 70Mbps by the time the service is available." This looks like good news and we're about a year away from 4G, yes!
BenQ has finally released their first all-in-one PC. The 18.5-inch nScreen i91 will also have 1GB of memory (only!?), a 160GB HDD and a webcam. This may not seem too attractive at first, but it will only cost you around $517 USD. That's fairly cheap for an all-in-one PC. Looks like BenQ is just looking out for the consumer, cause of the current economic crisis. The i91 seems to be running Vista with 1GB of memory in the screenshot, so i suggest you get a Windows 7 Beta CD (or torrent it) for the well-needed upgrade. Windows 7 runs better with a minimal amount of RAM compared to Vista.
Haier showed off a variety of devices at this year's MWC, including: MID's, netbooks and phones. While there were no specs on most of their devices, there were 2 devices that were Android-based. There was a phone that looked like the Blackberry 8900 and also another one that was similar to the Storm. The phone that looked similar to the Storm was running a new OS, but there is no word on the other devices.
This interesting looking thing here is the Prelude 2 from Maingear. Judging from their own word, they make "high perfomance luxury computers." By utilizing the NVIDIA's GeForce 3D Vision, Maingear was able to make this 3D gaming system. The PC also comes equipped with a 22-inch SyncMaster display, Intel's Core i7 processor and also has the funky-looking 3D glasses inside for you. WoW in 3D anyone? I heard it's not all it's cracked up to be.

Customize Gmail Themes, Blackberry Niagara, IE 8's Incompatible Sites, Capcom Announcing New Game, Motorola ZN 300
The Blackberry Niagara is on its way. There is no confirmed date, but rumours are saying that it will be available in May of this year. The Niagara looks good, but i am not attracted to the rear of the phone. Boy Genius says that "you can definitely think of it as a cross between the Bold and the Curve 8900. It's bigger than the Curve, but smaller than the Bold." The phone itself is said to be part of the "large screen family" like the Bold. It will also have the standard QWERTY keyboard, a 480 x 360 resolution screen (again, similar to the Bold), aGPS, a 3.2MP camera and has a 624MHz Qualcomm MSM7600 processor.
Today for lunch, i went to ashlee's place, so it was me, her and Nikki. Nikki mentioned that since Chrome was out of beta (She thought Chrome was still in beta, cause she got it confused with Windows 7, LOL), she's going to be making the switch. Chrome is just that fast. My Firefox takes forever to open up nowadays and Chrome pops up, just about, instantly. Anyways, we're not talking about Chrome or Firefox in this post though. I'm going to continue my Internet Explorer bashing. Just how good is Internet Explorer 8? Well, it may have improved speed-wise, but they have an incompatibility list. These are sites that don't render correctly, meaning they don't load the way they are meant to. For a full list go to this link, via ZD Net. Some notables are: google.com, microsoft.com, yahoo.com, live.com, wikipedia.org, youtube.com, gizmodo.com, kotaku.com. Wow, i know! But, just in case you wanted to know just how many sites show up on this "incompatibility list" - it's a grand total of 2,400 major sites. Gotta love Internet Explorer!
Capcom will be revealing a trailer for a new game that they are going to be releasing. "The announcement will apparently come in the form of a trailer available though Xbox LIVE Marketplace on the evening of February 23 (Japan Time)." Other details are unknown, for the time being. It'll be exciting to see what game it will be. Any guesses?
At MWC this year, Motorola has yet to unleash anything that catches the consumer's eyes. Even Sony Ericsson managed to create some buzz with their Idou (See two videos here of the Idou's new interface, via Gizmodo) Anyways, here's a look at the best Motorola thing i've seen so far. The Motorola ZN 300. It still looks like junk, but this could be the reason why Motorola is going down the drain. This phone is packed with a 3MP camera, runs Linux and has Opera Mini as the default browser.Customize Gmail Themes (and picture): http://gmailblog.blogspot.com/2009/02/choose-your-own-theme-colors.html

Meizu M8, General Mobile's DSTL1, New Gateway Laptops, Megapixels Aren't Everything
I've talked about this Android-running General Mobile DSTL1 before and it looks like a pretty hot device. It looks like the device is so shiny (see in picture) that it reflects everything and that could be a bit distracting. This phone is packed with the Android OS, a 5MP camera, 4GB of internal storage, a microSD slot, dual SIM slots and even FM radio. I think this phone looks pretty good, how about you guys? I think the first picture (on the other post) looks better though, cause it's not so reflective, but it also doesn't reveal Android. So, both pictures have their ups and downs.
More laptops? Why not? Gateway has unleashed 2 new models: a 15-inch and a 14-inch, the TC7307u and the TC7306u, respectively. These laptops will start off at a base price of $649.99 USD and will have a wide array of features. These 5.3 pound babies each have "a 1.3 megapixel webcam, WiFi, gigabit Ethernet, a 1,366 x 768 resolution panel, a built-in multicard reader and three USB 2.0 ports. You'll also find a variety of colors, Intel's Core 2 Duo CPUs, a dual-layer DVD writer and a 6-cell Li-ion battery." Personally, i like the red one, but i think a black, silver or white one would also look decent. Go Gateway!
We recently heard about the Sony Ericsson Idou, the full touchscreen phone with a 12.1 megapixel camera. Gizmodo explains why cameraphones aren't exactly better the more megapixels they have. Go to this link to read more, via Gizmodo. It's an excellent read.
I didn't get to blog much last night because i went to the Raptors game. They got owned by the Cavaliers and i got to see Lebron in action again. The last Cavs game i watched, Gibson hit a 3-pointer at the buzzer to win the game. Today was much different. From the 2nd quarter on, the Cavs dominated the game. On a side note, i didn't really have much to blog about, so i didn't really skip any important topics. I thought MWC was going to be more blog post-packed, but it looks like everything was done after the first day. Maybe MWC will end off with a bang. I don't recall seeing Samsung's 12MP cameraphone anywhere yet.

Samsung's MID Has WiMAX, Nintendo DSi, Capcom Could Add More SFIV Characters, New Final Fantasy XIII Chracters, TI and Wind River Create Something
We've already seen NVIDIA's attempts at the MID and now it's time to head over to Samsung. The SWD-M100D looks decent, boasting a slide-out QWERTY keyboard, 3MP camera, Bluetooth, microSD card slot and a TV out. This MID also has a 4.3-inch touchscreen, but was seen running WinMo 6.1, which is torture to use. It does have WiMAX, so i guess we can give it some kudos for that.
IGN released a statement before that the Nintendo DSi was going to be released on April 4 for $179.99 USD on this side of the world. Well, the real release date and price have just been announced. Oh, and did i mention a new colour? So, look out for the DSi on April 5 for $169.99 USD. In Japan, they released a black and white version of the DSi. Well in the US, there will also be 2 versions, it will be the normal black and a new blue model. It will be bundled with a "DS rhythm game" called Rhythm Heaven.
Apparently, a new statement from the Street Fighter IV development team said that they have already done the pre-texturing to a few more characters and that if the voice of the gamer is heard, they could add more characters, via patches. This is exciting news. Imagine getting some SFII characters into the mix, like T. Hawk or Dee Jay. Street Fighter IV looks like it will be a big game, so gamers let your voice be heard. Request more characters and Capcom will try their best to meet your demands.
3 more Final Fantasy characters have leaked: Gabo (Gabou), Lebro (Rebro) and Markie (Marquis). These names may not carry over to the English version. But, at least now you know that there were 3 new characters that were leaked. If you want to see the characters, go to this link, via ps3.qj.net.
TI as in Texas Instruments, not the rapper. And "something" refers to the device that you see on the left side and in the video below. I'm not sure what this device is and i don't really want to call it an MID, but that is what it looks like. Texas Instruments and Wind River have worked together to fuse this device together, the Zoom OMAP34x-II. This device has a solid 4.1-inch touchscreen, HDMI out, 16GB of memory, an 8MP camera, an SD card clot, and has a large QWERTY keypad. This Android-running device will have 2 models; One model will have Wi-Fi only and the other one has 3G, they will go for $1150 USD and $1399 USD, respectively. The high pricing of this device is where i question it. With $1000 USD you can get a laptop that is a much better device than this, but the video is definitely worth a look. The Android UI that it runs is amazing. Reminded me of Pre's innovative UI. Maybe the UI is a bit overdo-ing it though. The video is below, via Gizmodo.

Street Fighter IV, Samsung To Release At Least 3 Android Phones This Year, Samsung's Watch Phone, 3 INQ1 Is The Best Handset Of 2009
The long-awaited sequel to Street Fighter III is finally here. Street Fighter IV has hit the shelves today. All the Street Fighter fans need to get this so that they can Hadouken and Shoryuken all of their friends. It makes me sad that i don't have a Playstation 3. I'm missing out on Street Fighter IV and Killzone 2, damn.
Unfortunately, Samsung didn't get to show their Android phones at MWC, but this was anticipated. Fortunately, fans everywhere are now rejoicing because Samsung says that "more than three" Android handsets will be coming by the end of the year. If they're Android handsets are touchscreen, i hope Samsung fixes the touch-y problems, like the ones on the OmniaHD.

LG's Android Phone By June; 2 More Later, Skype and Nokia, Android Apps Return Policy, Acer's 4 Newer Phones
Skype has recently announced their partnership with Nokia. Skype will be implemented on Nokia's future "high-end smartphones, the N-series, and the N97, Nokia's flagship device that will go on sale in June." This would be good for me because Skype-to-Skype calls would still be free, which is amazing. Me and my girlfriend would be able to call each other all the time, even if she's on residence. Too bad the N97 is being delayed until June.
There will be a 24-hour return policy on Android apps that you buy, unlike Apple's app store. If you aren't satisfied, you will be able to return the app and, in the process, get your money back.
Acer's made a lot of buzz announcing that their will be 8 new smartphones from them this year, plus their 2 Android phones. The other 4 WinMo 6.1 phones are on an earlier blog post and the new 4 Acer smartphones are the: F1, C1, L1 and E1. Acer kept their mouth shut about most specifications and the prototypes at MWC were turned off. But, Engadget does know that the F1 (that is in the picture being compared to the iPhone) boasts a 5MP camera, but lacks the "Windows Mobile 6.5-required hardware Start button." For a gallery of the 4 Acer phones go here, via Engadget.LG's Android Phone By June; 2 More Later (and picture): http://www.engadget.com/2009/02/17/lg-plans-android-phone-by-june-two-more-by-end-of-year/

NVIDIA Tegra, Kristen Kreuk Playing Chun Li, Qualcomm and Nokia Partner Up, Blizzon 2009
The gorgeous Kristen Kreuk will be playing the role of Chun Li in the upcoming Street Fighter movie. Although she may not have the same thunderous legs as Chun Li, Kreuk also admits that she doesn't physically look like Chun Li. But, i think the fans will be okay with that, since she'll be "the prettiest Chun Li to date." I hope the other Chun Li's don't feel offended. For some reason, i can't wait to watch this movie.
Nokia and Qualcomm have put aside their past issues and decided to work together. They've sued each other in the past, but not even that is going to stop them. Nokia mentioned at their keynote speech that they will be collaborating to make a phone that will be released in mid 2010. If you remember Qualcomm is the chipset maker for the Toshiba TG01. They're currently delivering 1GHz chips.
Blizzard's 4th Blizzcon's date was officially announced. The two-day event will be on August 21-22, later this year. All of you Starcraft, Warcraft and Diablo fans, look out! These tickets sell extremely fast, so you better keep a look out, if you want to get a spot.

Toshiba TG01 Hands-On, LG KT770, Acer Working On Two Android Phones, LG GC900, OmniaHD Touchscreen Blunders [Video]
The folks at Engadget tried the Toshiba TG01 for themselves at MWC and have said a couple of things about the 4.1-inch touchscreen phone. The home screen is a customized WinMo home screen because WinMo's needed an obvious facelift. The thinness of this device made the iPhone look chubby at times and they also mentioned that gaming was fast because of the 1GHz Snapdragon processor. Engadget also mentions that we'll probably see changes from now until the summer release of the phone and they said that they should implement more 3G bands, other than the 2100MHz that is already included. I think this device looks sexy and if you want to see a video then go to this link and scroll down, via Engadget.
More from Acer. The brand that gave you 4 disappointing WinMo 6.1 phones; they will also be releasing 4 more smartphones by the end of the year. They'll even throw in two more smartphones that will run Look out for the LG GC900. It looks like a full touchscreen with an 8MP camera. That is all the information leaked about this phone and GSM Arena couldn't get a picture. LG is keeping their lips sealed about this phone.
The Samsung OmniaHD is Samsung's new touchscreen and the successor to, obviously, the Samsung Omnia. Well, the Omnia had some touchscreen issues and it looks like Samsung never really decided to fix the issue. If you watch the video below, you will see just how bad the touchscreen is again. It looks like a disappointment because the phone actually looks amazing. In addition, it can shoot 720p video. That's HD for ya. Anyways, i might as well post the video on here, since this is absolutely horrible. Why, Samsung, why? Here's the video, via Gizmodo.

Samsung OmniaHD, LG GD900 Transparent Keypad, Acer To Unveil 8 Smartphones At MWC, Lenovo IdeaPad S20
I talked about Acer before and said that they were going to be releasing 4 new smartphones today and they pulled through. But, a new announcement says that they will release 8 new smartphones. So, the 4 from earlier today and 4 new ones to be released in the next couple of days. Hopefully, they won't all run on WinMo 6.1 or else that will be very disappointing.
The transparent keypad from LG will be sported on the LG GD900. Like you, i wanted another picture of this "transparent" keypad. Well, there it is for you. I'm curious to see the specs on this phone, but they [LG] still haven't revealed them. But, all you need to know is that the phone looks good. Now all we need is a video to see the supposed "glow" on this superb-looking phone.
So, the Lenovo will be releasing a 12-inch version of their IdeaPad netbook, dubbed the S20. They already have S10's which only sport 10-inch screens. Anyways, the S20's will "come equipped [with] an Atom N280 processor and Intel's GN40 chipset, along with Windows XP, and [will] cost about $586 [USD]." Windows Mobile 6.5, LG To Make 50 Windows Mobile Phones, Acer's 4 Smartphones, NVIDIA's Tegra 600
Windows Mobile 6.5 looks like it will be surperior to 6.1 just like Windows 7 is to Vista. Apparently, Windows Mobile 6.5 (running on HTC Touch Diamond2) is much more responsive and the browser is faster. Everything seems to be "touched up, simplified, and polished." Although, the honeycomb menus are still quite unimpressive, there are a lot of good things going for Windows Mobile 6.5. I actually hope that WinMo 6.5 will be better because i've done a lot of WinMo 6.1 bashing. Come on Microsoft, you can do it! If you want to see a video of WinMo 6.5 in action just go to this link, via Gizmodo.
Since we're talking about Windows Mobile 6.5, i might as well tell you about LG. LG has now agreed to make 50 LG phones running Windows Mobile 6.5. Yes, fifty! I don't know how excited i am, but LG must be praying that WinMo 6.5 will run just how smoothly they say it will.
So, Nvidia has just announced that they plan to use their Tegra 600 series chips to power $99 MID's (Mobile Internet Devices). MID's are squeezed into their own category, between smartphones and netbooks. These MIDs will "support 1080p HD video playback, which is the high end of what you'll find streaming online." Nvidia will use Windows CE along with Android on their cheap MID's. I don't see the point of this [MIDs], but Nvidia certainly does.Windows Mobile 6.5 (and picture): http://i.gizmodo.com/5154385/windows-mobile-65-hands-on-the-new-interface-rocks
