Telus Announces That the HTC Desire (With Sony's Super LCD Display) Is Coming Soon!

Labels: , , , , , , ,

Well, it took Telus long enough! The Canadian carrier has just announced that the HTC Desire will be coming soon! This is great news, but it's sad to hear that it'll be launching with Android 2.1. Thankfully, they did mention that it will be upgraded to version 2.2 sometime after launch - whenever that is. The Desire will be the best Android-based smartphone that Telus will have. The smartphone features a 3.7-inch AMOLED display, a 5MP AF camera, a microSD card slot, WiFi / Bluetooth support, and anything else you should see in a smartphone - including access to the Android Market which is nearing the 100,000 app mark.

Update: Electronista has just pointed out that the HTC Desire is now up (still not to buy) on Telus' website. Sadly, the display won't be AMOLED. Because of the shortages, the Desire in Canada will have a Sony Super LCD display. Sad times.

Dell Streak MID To Hit AT&T On July 19th? Captivate (Galaxy S) Soon After

Labels: , , , , , , , ,

There's a rumour going around that AT&T is extremely close to launching the Dell Streak / Mini 5 MID. This MID, of course, is going to be running Android along with a 5-inch touchscreen display. It's kind of big to use as a phone but it'll do for some people who don't talk on their phone for that long anyway - especially with AT&T's network. Apparently, the MID will be hitting the carrier in less than a week, July 19th. Of course, if you're looking for a real phone the Samsung Galaxy S or the Captivate will be hitting the carrier soon as well.
