T-Mobile Sidekick LX 2009 and 2008 Now Available Again

Labels: , , ,

T-Mobile pulled Sidekick sales last month, but now it looks like they're available again. The T-Mobile Sidekick LX 2009 is now available for $149.99 on a 2-year contract and the Sidekick 2008 is available for $49.99 on a 2-year contract. I wonder if anyone is going to spend their money on these handsets seeing what happened to all of those users.

Labels: , ,

By now, you should know that the T-Mobile Sidekick basically got owned. As expected, T-Mobile has “temporarily” pulled the Sidekick from being sold on their website. We have no clue how long it’ll be before it comes back up, but I’m sure people are just thinking on what new phone they’re going to get.

Bluetooth 3.0 and T-Mobile Announcement on April 21

Labels: , , , , , ,

It has been confirmed that Bluetooth SIG will be talking a bit about the upcoming Bluetooth 3.0 which will be faster than 802.11 wireless. "Speed is definitely the focus of Bluetooth 3.0" and this is great news. On a side note, I wonder what's happening to USB 3.0.

T-Mobile is reminding everyone via e-mail that they are going to announce something on April 21 in NYC. Everyone's excited, but no one knows exactly what it will be. It could be something about the Sidekick 2009, HTC Magic (T-Mobile G2), Huawei handset (T-Mobile G3) or it could have something to do with Android's Cupcake. We'll all have to wait and see, so mark April 21 on your calendars. Bluetooth 3.0 and T-Mobile excitement!

According to TMO News, this is T-Mobile's summer roadmap. There are still a couple of unknown devices but the highlight could definitely be the HTC Touch Pro 2 that will be released on July 22, 2009. Here you go:

  • “Blade” (Sidekick 2009) - May 13
  • HTC “Maple”/”Snap” - July 1st (contrary to earlier speculation, this seems to confirm a T-Mobile variant)
  • HTC “Rhodium”/Wing II - July 22nd (also known as the Touch Pro 2)
  • HTC “Sapphire”/”Magic” - TBD. Sorry folks.. we’ll keep you posted (a.k.a. G2)
  • Sony Ericsson “CS8″ - June 24th (8mp camera? Is this the Android device they’ve been talking about?)
  • Nokia 1661 (prepaid) - April 29th (We know, a week later than previously mentioned. But you know the wait will be SO worth it. No… really… it will be… )
  • Samsung T349 (prepaid) - May 6th
  • Samsung T239 (prepaid) - May 13th
  • Samsung T559 - July 15th

  • Samsung T659 - August 19th

Phones: HP's iPAQ Data Messenger, 3G Sidekick LX 2009, Samsung Memoir, DSTL1 Android Smartphone

HP is a brand mostly-known for their computers and their laptops, but it looks like they're going to be releasing another phone soon. The pre-orders, in the UK, are starting for this phone today. I don't think this phone will create that much buzz, due to it's WinMo 6.1 OS. With MWC 2009 around the corner, WinMo 6.5 should be on the way shortly. It looks like it's too little, too late for HP. Although, this is still a decent-looking phone, i have to give it that.

A new rumour has surfaced, regarding a new 3G Sidekick LX 2009 on the way. Some of the specs are listed on Gizmodo and i will list some of them. According to its 'Hardware' section it will have a 3.2 inch screen that will have an 854 x 480 resolution, a "thin design," a QWERTY keyboard (of course), a 3.2MP camera with autofocus and up to 8GB of memory via MicroSD. Some 'Social Networking Suite of Apps' this phone will have are: Facebook, Myspace, Twitter and YouTube Mobile Access. It looks like a good upgrade, even adding GPS and 3G to the mix. But, it's just a rumour, so i'll give you more information if it is officially announced.

The Samsung Memoir. The Memoir looks like it will be available, exclusively to T-Mobile, starting on February 25, 2009. This phone will be $300 USD with a 2-year contract, which is actually reasonable. This phone "features a full touchscreen with TouchWiz UI and [an] 8 mega pixel camera accompanied with a xenon flash." Looks like Samsung is going to try to chase Nokia with that top spot on the mobile list. But, the Nokia N97 will still prevail!

This awesome-looking phone will be running Android. This phone will have a "3-inch Sharp touchscreen." It is called the General Mobile DSTL1. The phone looks amazing and also has some decent features, like: 4GB internal memory and up to "8GB T-flash Card Support" and a 5MP auto-focus camera. the only thing this phone is missing is a slide-out QWERTY keyboard. It still looks good to me though, but it could be a bit too thick. I also don't like candy-bar phones. The design of the phone is still amazing.
