The upcoming Dell Mini 5 MID looks like it has just passed the FCC. This is all well and good especially considering that it has AT&T 3G bands on-board (that's Rogers, Bell, and Telus to those in Canada). Of course, there'll be WiFi and HSPA connectivity as well. Let's hope that it launches later this year for a non-outrageous price. Check out the FCC filing here.

HTC Patents a Nintendo DS-Like Smartphone Design

HTC looks like they've just filed a patent for a smartphone that'll open up similar to the Nintendo DS. This is actually a lot like the HTC Omni that we saw a while ago. The smartphone will close with a set of magnets that will have a unique way to open it. You'll have to actually push the top of the device so that the magnets snap off of each other. Anyways, if you're interested the patent is here.

Kindle's Display Maker, PVI, Working On Touchscreen, Coloured, and Flexible Displays
Prime View International (PVI) is responsible for the display in Amazon's Kindle. PVI has just mentioned that they're working on touchscreen, coloured, and flexible displays for the future. One of these could very well find its way onto the next Kindle. Amazon's going to have to think fast though because the iPad is set to launch in a couple of months and some people in the book industry are putting their trust in Apple.
Thankfully, PVI has also mentioned that the response times will be much improved on these new displays.

HTC P81120 Passes the FCC, No Clue What It Is
It looks like the FCC (here) has granted an unknown HTC handset with AWS 3G bands. It's being known as the P81120 on the FCC line, but we don't know anything about it right now. We don't even know the OS that it'll be running. Let's hope it's packing an amazing spec sheet and that it shows up at MWC.

So much for the LG LU9400 Arena Max rumours we heard back in December. Apparently what you see above on the right is the LG Arena Max and there's definitely not room for a 5-inch touchscreen display on there - there's also no 12MP camera on-board as well. The specs are said to be a 3.5-inch touchscreen display, WiFi / GPS support, a 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon CPU, and a 5MP camera. It's a fairly impressive spec sheet for the time being. We'll likely see it invade MWC in two weeks and the launch is said to be in March. Another picture of the handset is below. The Cyon branding indicates that it'll likely launch in Korea.

Okay, okay. It missed the January target by a couple of days but Fujitsu has just released their LifeBook MH380. I'm pretty sure this is their third launch in the same number of days, but I'm not complaining. This netbook sports an Intel Atom 1.66GHz CPU, a 10.1-inch display with a 1,366 x 768 resolution, 2GB of RAM, a 250GB HDD, Bluetooth support, Windows 7, and a 6-cell battery. This netbook is available in four colours: white, black, red, and brown. Check out their website here but it looks like only the red model is available. It's going for $449.

Lately everyone's looking to do everything on their own and Nokia could be looking to do that in the next couple of years. Nokia looks like they could be planning to launch their own tablets and even netbooks running their own Symbian OS. We don't know how that'll work at the time, but these products could be available in the next 1-2 years. Imagine a Booklet 3G with some updated Symbian OS. It may be kind of hard right now, but let's see what Nokia comes up with.

It looks like Dell is about to update their Precision M6500 notebook. This notebook will come with both Intel Core i5 and Core i7 CPU options, a 3.2MP webcam, and one USB 3.0 port. The rest of the specs should be the same though so you'll find a 17-inch LED display, Qualcomm's Gobi 2 3G model, and Nvidia Quadro FX graphics. The prices haven't been mentioned yet, but this notebook should be available by the end of this month.

X2 Launching the iTablet Later This Year; USB 2.0 / HDMI Ports, 250GB HDD, Ion Graphics and Windows 7
Upset about Apple naming their tablet the iPad? Well, if you were hoping for a device called the iTablet then a UK company, X2, has just unveiled it. The X2 iTablet will be sporting an Intel Atom 1.6GHz CPU, a 250GB HDD, Bluetooth / 3G support, three USB 2.0 ports, an integrated 1.3MP webcam, an HDMI output. It also comes equipped with Nvidia Ion graphics and full Windows 7. There'll be two models, one with a 10.2-inch display and one with a larger 12.1-inch display. Some of these specs are much better than the iPad's so there is a bit to like here. Unfortunately, it's 1.4-inches thick which is 3 times as thick as the iPad.
The iTablet should be available this April, the price wasn't mentioned.

Samsung Could Launch the 14-Inch Transparent OLED Notebook; IceTouch PMP To Go On Sale For $332
Remember the 14-inch transparent OLED notebook that we saw from Samsung at CES? Well, it looks like they could actually be planning to launch this notebook in the next 12 months. We don't have a price tag right now, but I don't expect it to be cheap. Along with that news, they'll also be launching their IceTouch PMP as well (below). This PMP is expected to be available for $332 USD, which is kind of expensive since it only has a 2-inch display. However, it does look pretty stylish. The exact release date wasn't mentioned.
