If you live in the Europe and you don't want to get the Samsung Galaxy Tab or the iPad then there's another option for you. Toshiba is reportedly now shipping their Folio 100 tablet which sports the Tegra 2 chipset along with Android 2.2 "Froyo". Other specs include 16GB of internal storage, a 1,024 x 600 resoluiton, a 1.3MP webcam, miniHDMI port, SD / USB ports, and up to a 7-hour battery life.
Germany's prices for this tablet are €429 ($610 USD) for the non-3G model and €529 ($752 USD) for the 3G model. Italy prices are €399 ($568 USD) and €499 ($710 USD) for the same models so it's a bit cheaper. If you live in the UK, it'll only cost you €329 ($468 USD) for the non-3G model.

Engadget just spotted the tablet from Toshiba just up for display. It's the Folio 100 tablet sporting Nvidia's Tegra 2 chip inside. Other specs include a 10.1-inch multitouch display, a front-facing 1.3MP camera, 16GB of internal storage, and Android 2.1. For now it looks like the Galaxy Tab is on my radar so let's see what happens when they put these two tablets side-by-side. Toshiba has yet to officially announce this tablet by the way.
Update: Another Engadget post has just mentioned that this tablet has been officially announced. Specs above don't change but there's some more I'll add. The Folio 100 features a 1,024 x 600 resolution display, an SD card slot, an HDMI output, WiFi 802.11n support, and Android 2.2 with Flash support. Sadly, the tablet will only last 7 hours on one charge under normal use so that's a slight let down. It's okay though.

A couple of days ago we first got a glimpse of what the Toshiba Android tablet would look like and the same website, Notebook Italia, has reportedly gotten word of some specs and even a name. Apparently, the tablet that will be getting unveiled will be called the Toshiba Folio 100, which sounds kind of awkward and foreign. The tablet is said to feature a 10.1-inch multitouch display with a 1,024 x 600 resolution, a Nvidia Tegra 2 chip, 16GB of internal storage, an SDHC card slot, 3G / WiFi b/g/n / Bluetooth support, Adobe Flash support, the Opera Mobile web browser, a PDF reader, a 7-hour battery life, and Android 2.2 "Froyo". These are some pretty great specs so hopefully everything gets ironed before the big unveil at IFA. Hopefully it launches this year.
