Coming from Droid-Life is a rumour regarding the release dates of a few smartphones headed to Verizon this month. On May 12th, the carrier could release the Motorola DROID X 2, the LG Revolution, and the WP7-powered HTC Trophy. 2 weeks later, on May 26th, the Sony Ericsson XPERIA Play could be available as well so that's just something to keep in mind. May 12th is right after the great news that we'll be hearing at Google I/O so this could be a good or bad thing for the three phones.

PocketNow always seems to get the press shots for upcoming smartphones first and they just got the first ones for the DROID X2, which looks like it'll actually be the DROID X^2 if you take a look at the branding on the back of the device. This one is said to feature a dual-core CPU, a 4.3-inch qHD display, more RAM, an 8MP camera, and Android. As you can see, it looks exactly like the first DROID and it's just the inside that's been upgraded.

According to the image that DroidLife snagged above, two new devices for Verizon have been priced. The Motorola DROID X 2 and the LG Revolution could be available soon for $199.99 and $249.99, respectively, on a 2-year contract. It shouldn't be a surprise that the DROID Incredible 2 will be launching for $199, while the DROID Charge will be priced at $299 which seems a bit high. Unfortunately, release dates are still unknown.

Android Central has picked up more photos of the upcoming HTC DROID Incredible 2 and the Motorola DROID X 2 that's headed to Verizon in the near future. The Incredible 2 is, unsurprisingly, looking just like the Incredible S and it packs an 8MP camera on the back with a dual-LED flash. This one's also rocking Android 2.2 with the Sense UI and it's looking like it'll launch with that OS as well. Check out more photos on their website if you're interested.
The other smartphone that has been caught on camera again is the upcoming DROID X 2 from Motorola. This one's also headed to Verizon, possibly with just Android 2.2 as well. On the back there's an 8MP camera and there's also an HDMI and microUSB port on the side of the device. Of course, if you want to check out more photos, just head over to the website.

We know that Verizon is going to launch the Android-based Motorola DROID X2 and we still don't know when it will get official. According to the latest tests, the smartphone should feature a qHD (960 x 540 resolution) display along with a speedy Tegra 2 CPU. Those are all the specs we have right now but it should be a pretty powerful smartphone - we don't know if it'll have 4G (LTE) right now.

Phandroid has just gotten quite a big exclusive leak regarding upcoming Verizon phones. The leak above is clearly "subject to change" but it's a fairly good indication of what to expect in the next couple of weeks / months. The first two that Verizon will be launching will apparently be on April 7th where you can expect two Android phones: the waterproof Casio Commando and the Samsung DROID Charge (aka Stealth) which will feature the Touchwiz UI as well as LTE (4G) support.
The week after that the carrier will be launching the PlayStation Certified XPERIA Play which is, of course, made by Sony Ericsson. A day after that will be the HTC Trophy which will be a Windows Phone 7 handset with Global connectivity which is great. Capping off the big month of April will be the DROID Incredible 2 which will be another Global device. The original DROID Incredible is now an EoL (End-of-Life) device so it's pretty clear that the successor is just around the corner.
On May 5th, you might want to mark the LG Revolution on your calendar. This one could be dropping on that day and it'll also have 4G connectivity via LTE. Launches in the rest of May include more 4G devices: Motorola DROID Bionic, DROID X 2, and the Galaxy S II. The Galaxy S II is definitely the one that people might be looking forward to the most - at least I am. Keep in mind that some of these devices could be delayed until June.

Back Of the Motorola DROID X 2 Possibly Leaks, Has Verizon 4G
The picture above might be real but it also might be fake. Phandroid posted the image anyway to show that the upcoming DROID X 2 for Verizon might actually be capable of running on the carrier's 4G (LTE) network. The DROID X 2 actually shouldn't launch for a while so by the time it actually launches it should actually run on the faster network. Unfortunately, the image above might not be the real thing. The DROID X 2 will be an upgrade over the last model - that's for sure.

Leaked Pics Of the Motorola DROID 3, DROID X 2, and High-End "Targa" With 13MP Camera

HowardForums (and here and here) has just leaked a few upcoming Motorola smartphones that will be headed to Verizon in the USA. They're all, unsurprisingly, running on Google's Android OS and actually seem quite powerful. These will all be launching after the DROID Bionic which should be launching in Q2 of this year. What we have here is the DROID 3 (below), the DROID X 2 (below), and the "Targa" which is above. The DROID 3 should pack a slide-out QWERTY keyboard, while the DROID X 2 should just have a large touchscreen display.
The "Targa" is the most interesting of the trio sporting a thin body, capacitive buttons, a front-facing camera, a large touchscreen display, a miniHDMI port, and what appears to be a 13MP AF camera on the back. Other specs are unknown right now but don't be surprised if it's one of the highest-end smartphones of the year. Furthermore, it looks like we'll be waiting a long time for this one to hit the market; ETA is Q4.
Update: Android Central has just picked up another image of the DROID 3, via Howard Forums. Check it out below.

Motorola DROID X 2 Possibly Hits FCC, Launch Could Be In August

Something pretty interesting has just been spotted at the FCC and it's being called the IHDT56MJ1. Yup, that tells us just about nothing. Furthermore, said device is sporting WiFi 802.11n support, CDMA EVDO connectivity, and actually has the same naming scheme as the Motorola devices on Verizon. Secrets for this device are going to be kept under wraps for about 180 days so it actually might not launch until August. The rumours are pointing to this one being the Motorola DROID X 2 so it should be quite the upgrade. Check it out at the FCC if you have time to kill.

Unconfirmed Motorola DROID X 2 Specs Leak Again, Set For Q2 Release
Coming from The Mobi Zone along with Engadget is word on a few "confirmed" specs regarding the upcoming Motorola DROID X 2. This handset will reportedly feature a 4.3-inch display with a 480 x 854 resolution, 768MB of RAM, and just a single-core 1.2GHz CPU. This is a lot difference from the wild rumours we heard about this one packing a 1GHz Tegra 2 chipset along with 1GB of RAM. Oh well, we'll see how things play out because these are still unconfirmed specs. Anyways, this handset should be hitting Verizon sometime in Q2 without LTE (4G) connectivity.

First Supposed Motorola DROID X 2 Photos Leak, Looks Exactly Like the Original
Coming from Twitter user, @britishturbo, who runs TheMobiZone is what you see above and below. These are reportedly the first leaked photos of the Verizon-bound Motorola DROID X 2 which is codenamed "Daytona". This smartphone obviously looks a whole lot like the original DROID X but it does have some improved specs. This includes a better 4.3-inch qHD display, a dual-core 1GHz Tegra 2 CPU, and a gyroscope for gaming purposes. It should also feature an 8MP camera which is the same as the current model but hopefully they chose a better sensor so that it can record 1080p Full HD video this time around. Motorola is making an appearance at MWC so maybe this one will be getting official soon.

If you believe what Phandroid has to say then Verizon will have four upcoming Android phones on the way and most of them are coming before the first half of this year closes. The first few devices are said to be the Motorola DROID 3, the DROID X2, and the Samsung Stealth which we actually saw unveiled at CES earlier this year. The DROID 3 is said to be sporting a 4-inch display with a QHD (960 x 540) resolution along with a slide-out QWERTY keyboard, while there's nothing known about the DROID X2. Maybe we'll see all of these unveiled at MWC because they're scheduled for Q2 of this year.
The second rumour is that the HTC DROID Incredible 2 - codenamed "Vevo" - is right around the corner as well. In case you forgot, the DROID Incredible was one of the best Android phones to hit the US market last year so the successor should be even better. Rumoured specs for this one include a Qualcomm chip that will provide Global 3G support. Apparently, this time around it'll be "white with a white chrome rim and contoured black". Unfortunately, there's no picture of this one right now so you can let your imagination soar!

Motorola DROID X 2 Rumoured To Have Better Camera and Tegra 2, Announcement Soon?
There's a new rumour going around that Motorola may be set to unveil their next Motorola DROID in the near future. The rumour states that it will be the successor to the DROID X (above), dubbed the DROID X 2. Apparently, it's being codenamed the "Daytona" and could be cruising with a dual-core Nvidia Tegra 2 chipset along with a 540 x 960 resolution 4.3-inch display. This handset could be hitting Verizon in the Summer and other specs could include a better (8MP) camera with 720p (hopefully upped to 1080p since it does have the Tegra 2 chipset) HD video recording, possibly just Android 2.2 (hopefully "Gingerbread"), a microSD card slot, an HDMI port, and possibly even LTE (4G) connectivity. Maybe it'll be announced at MWC, we'll just have to wait and see.
