HTC Hero Now Official, and it Just Makes "Sense"

Labels: , , ,

As predicted, the HTC Hero was unveiled this morning in the HTC event in London. The HTC Hero is now official and will be shipping with a new UI, called HTC Sense. The Sense UI is a widget-like homepage that is like TouchFLO for Windows Mobile. It will give the user customization on their home page, so that you can keep up with whatever you like, such as weather, important contacts, photos, Twitter, Facebook, Flickr, and the list goes on.

Now let's get right down to the specs of the HTC Hero. So it has: a 3.2-inch HVGA capacitive touchscreen display, a 5MP AF camera, a Qualcomm MSM7200A 528MHz CPU, quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE / dual-band 7.2Mbps HSPA/WCDMA, 512MB of ROM, 288MB of RAM, a gravity sensor, a digital compass, WiFi, GPS, Bluetooth 2.0 + EDR / A2DP, a 3.5mm headphone jack, a microSD slot, and will run on Android alongside the HTC Sense UI. That wasn't enough? It will also have flash support. Oh, and don't forget the chin.

The Hero will be available next month in Europe, later in the Summer in Asia, and us North Americans will have to wait for a launch later this year. In Europe, the HTC Hero will be available on Orange UK and it will be as low as £0 on a contract this July. Talk about cheap.

Update: I forgot to mention that the touchscreen display it multitouch.

Update (#2): Take a look at the demo below, courtesy of Crunch Gear.

Update (#3): T-Mobile will release the HTC Hero exclusively as the G1 Touch and it will be the black model, according to Tech Radar. Orange will be getting a "graphite" colour, so who gets the white model? Or is the white model, "graphite"? Confusing stuff. The G1 Touch will be available on T-Mobile this July as a part of T-Mobile's unique Flext 40 price plan.
