HP Mini 5101 Netbook Is Pretty Sexy All-Around

Labels: , ,

This is HP's latest netbook offering, the HP Mini 5101, and it looks pretty damn sexy. It has a chiclet keyboard, which I love, and is built with a "slick aluminum and magnesium chassis." Let's get down to the specs of this netbook, to see how it fares against the competition. It has: an Atom CPU, a 10.1-inch LED-backlit display which has options for a WSVGA (1,1024 x 600) or an "HD" (1,366 x 768) resolution, a 2MP webcam, Bluetooth 2.0, a 7200RPM HDD / 80 or 128GB SSD, a 4 or 6-cell battery that has an expected 8 hours of battery life, and also WWAN.

After going to Future Shop and seeing how small the display on a 10-inch netbook was, I came to the conclusion that it's just too small for my liking. The smallest laptop I could handle is a 12-inch - it really makes a big difference. I think that HP should've just extended the display a little bit more because there's just so much bezel on this netbook, but I guess they just wanted to do it this way.

The Mini 5101 will start at $449 USD, but the price could rack up as you pick and choose your options. This netbook will be on sale next month.

Same! I just don't like that it's small and too expensive.
