Today's the day. If you're looking to get a Windows Phone 7 handset on Telus then today would be the best day to do so. If you purchase a Windows Phone 7 handset from Telus today (until December 19th) they'll throw in a free Xbox 360. Of course, it's going to be the new 4GB model (the cheapest model) and you will be tied down to a 3-year contract. So, it's your choice now, will it be the HTC 7 Surround or the LG Optimus 7.

As expected, Telus has released their two Windows Phone 7 smartphones. Telus in Canada has joined the Windows Phone 7 party by releasing the HTC Surround and the LG (E900) Optimus 7 for $99.99 on a 3-year contract. The Surround packs a slide-out speaker and is also available for $449.99 contract-free, while the Optimus 7 sports a slide-out QWERTY keyboard which would definitely get used a bit more. Telus has just confirmed that they'll be launching their first two Windows Phone 7 smartphones on November 8th. The handsets I'm talking about are the HTC 7 Surround (pictured above) and the LG (E900) Optimus 7. Both of these handsets will be available for just $99 on a 3-year contract (promo price). In case you forgot, the HTC model has a slide-out speaker while the LG one features a slide-out QWERTY keyboard instead. This is definitely worth it and it's definitely a competitor to RIM and the cheap Android handsets that the carrier has. Check out the official announcement from Telus.

Telus has just announced their second WP7 device. The first one was announced yesterday, the HTC 7 Surround and the second one is what you see above. Yes, it's the LG Optimus 7. This smartphone features a 3.8-inch WVGA touchscreen display, a 1GHz CPU, a 5MP camera with an LED flash and 720p HD video recording, 16GB of internal storage, Bluetooth 2.1 / WiFi support, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. I feel that this is LG's best smartphone to date and running WP7 will be a great new start for them. The release date is still unknown at this time but it should be available in the next couple of weeks. This is all happening while Bell still has none in the pipe.

I knew something like this was going to happen, that's why I decided to wake up a few hours before Microsoft's New York Windows Phone 7 event. Samsung has just made their first WP7-based smartphone official, the morning of the event. The Omnia 7 features a 1GHz Qualcomm QSD8250 CPU, a 4-inch Super AMOLED WVGA display, Bluetooth 2.1 / WiFi 802.11n support, a 5MP AF camera with an LED flash and 720p HD video recording, 8GB of internal storage, an FM radio with RDS support, aGPS, and a 1,500mAh battery. These are definitely some great specs and you should expect all of the other WP7 handsets to follow (roughly) the same guideline.

LG has also made one of their Windows Phone 7 devices official - and then they quickly pulled the information. Their first handset is the Optimus 7 (E900) which features a 3.8-inch WVGA touchscreen display, a 5MP AF camera with an LED flash and 720p HD video recording capabilities, 16GB of internal storage, Bluetooth 2.1 / WiFi, GPS, a digital compass, an ambient light sensor, and a 1,500mAh battery.

Price and release dates for either smartphone haven't been announced yet but we should find out soon.

The WP7-based LG E900 has just hit the GCF with some good news or some bad news if you live in the wrong places. The E900 reportedly features dual-band UMTS/HSDPA/HSUPA (900/2100 MHz)  / quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE connectivity which means that it'll work in Europe and Asia - not North America. Slash Gear points out that if you live in North America you shouldn't be too upset because the LG C900 has already been spotted with AT&T branding - and it features a slide-out QWERTY keyboard. During the IFA event that's going on in Berlin, LG has announced the Windows Phone 7 based E900 as the Optimus 7. This smartphone does pack a slide-out QWERTY keyboard so that's definitely good news. At IFA, LG is showing off this smartphone's DLNA capabilities over WiFi. The official spec sheet wasn't mentioned and neither was the price or the release date.

Two upcoming LG handsets have just hit the FCC, the LG E900 and the LG E720. The E900 is the one packing a slide-out QWERTY keyboard along with WP7, while the E720 is running Android. The E900 has hit the FCC with bands capable of running on AT&T's 3G network and will be packing Bluetooth / WiFi b/g/n support along with a 1GHz Snapdragon SoC. The E720, on the other hand, packs Bluetooth support and just EDGE connectivity so this model may not be hitting North America (of course, we could see another model hit the FCC with NAM 3G support). We've seen the LG E900 before and it could be launching as the Optimus 7. Well, whatever it launches as doesn't really matter. The important part is that today a picture has just leaked out and it looks damn great for an LG phone. There's a video below if you're willing to check it out. Beneath the 3.7-inch display, there's said to be a 1.3GHz Qualcomm QSD8650A CPU, GPS support, a 3.5mm headphone jack, a miniUSB port, and multi-mode UMTS / CDMA 3G connectivity. Maybe Microsoft didn't make a mistake picking LG as the primary company for their WP7 OS.

Update: According to WMExperts, this handset actually may not have a 1.3GHz CPU like it says. In case you forgot, the QSD8650 chip is a 1GHz one and that "A" at the end was actually thrown in by Google Translate. Oh well.

The LG C900 leaked out in pictures last week, thanks to Engadget but it looks like Boy Genius may have got a little bit more information. According to their sources, the C900 will be called the "Pacific" when it hits the market. It seems like a codename, but it could actually end up being the real name whenever it launches. We'll really just have to believe them for now.

Update: According to WMPowerUser, the LG E900 that also leaked a couple of days ago will be called the LG Optimus 7. Out of these two, I think this one has the better name.

Another Windows Phone 7 device has just leaked via YouTube. This smartphone is said to be the LG E900, which will essentially be similar to the C900 but it will not have the slide-out QWERTY keyboard. Specs are unknown for now, but the minimal guidelines are a little clue. The OS seemed pretty fluid on camera but we know that the OS still needs some touching up before it goes prime time. The video is below, thanks to WMPowerUser.
