HP EliteBook 2540p and 2740p Notebooks Get Official and Hands-On At CeBIT!

Labels: , , , , , ,

HP has already unveiled a bunch of new notebooks and we'll start off with these two, the 2540p and the 2740p - both of them fall into their EliteBook series. The 2540p notebook sports a 12.1-inch LED-backlit display with a 1,366 x 768 resolution, Intel Core i3 / i5 / i7 CPU options, up to 8GB of DDR3 RAM,  a bunch of different HDD / SSD options, an optional 2MP webcam, a fingerprint scanner, and a Qualcomm Gobi chipset (integrated 3G). There are also a couple of other things like gigabit Ethernet, a VGA port, a couple of USB 2.0 ports, an ExpressCard slot, audio in / out, WiFi b/g (optional a/b/g/n) / Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR support, and a 3 / 6 / 9-cell battery options. Of course, this notebook will be available with Windows 7 and will be released in April for a base price of $1,099.

What you see above is the EliteBook 2740p notebook tablet which sports a 12.1-inch multitouch swiveling multitouch display (1,280 x 800 resolution) and there's Intel Core i5 / i7 CPU options inside. This is a rugged notebook that has 320GB HDD / 160GB SSD options and other things like the Gobi chipset and an MIL-STD 810G rating which means that it can withstand dust, vibration, and some light drops. The rest of the specs are similar to the 2540p so it's packing a pretty good spec sheet. This notebook will also be available in April starting at $1,599. Visit either link below to get some hands-on footage of each notebook!

Oh yes, the UltraSlim Expansion base (a DVD burner and an eSATA port) should be available in April as well for about $299.

It looks like tablets are the next big thing - case you didn't know - and here's another offering from HP. Later this year (Spring 2010) HP plans to launch the EliteBook 2740p tablet. We don't know the specs of this handset but it'll clearly be part of their student / business line-up.
