It's already launched in Japan - as the DSi LL - and Europe has just mentioned that the Nintendo DSi XL will be launching in the UK on March 5th! The DSi XL will, of course, be more expensive than the current DSi, but the price hasn't been mentioned yet. Let's hope that North America gets the DSi XL around the same time as Europe.

Nintendo has just confirmed that they will be launching a larger DSi. Set for a launch later this year, the DSi LL will be hitting Japan in under a month - November 28th to be exact. Nintendo will be launching the same gaming handset in Europe in Q1 2010, but as the Nintendo DSi XL. The DSi LL / DSi XL will feature dual 4.2-inch displays and the same ports from the original DSi. The trade-off for the dual-screen is that it will weigh 100 grams more than the original DSi (now 314 grams) and the measurements are 161 x 91.4 x 21.2 mm. The battery will supposedly last 4 to 5 hours on maximum brightness or 13 to 17 hours when you dim the screen a bit.
Anyways, in Japan we're hearing that it'll be available for ¥20,000 ($220 USD). Yes, this handheld's launch date in North America hasn't been mentioned yet. Nintendo will be launching it in three colours: Wine Red (above), Dark Brown (below), and Natural White (self-explanatory).
Update: It will also be headed to North America as the Nintendo DSi XL, according to Kotaku. It'll be available in early (Q1) 2010.
