Lenovo looks like they're planning to launch the Nvidia Ion-equipped IdeaPad S12 in Japan this Thursday, October 22nd with Windows 7 on-board. This netbook sports: a 12.1-inch display with a 1,280 x 800 resolution, 2GB of RAM, an Intel Atom N270 1.6GHz CPU, a 250GB HDD, WiFi 802.11 b/g, Bluetooth support, HDMI output, two USB 2.0 ports, a card reader, and a 6-cell battery that should last 6 hours. In Japan, this will be available for around $760 USD and will apparently sell for about $200 USD cheaper when it launches in North America.

According to DigiTimes, Taiwan is going to get their crack at the IdeaPad S12 with VIA Technologies' Nano CPU soon. The Lenovo IdeaPad S12 U2250 netbook will also have: a 12.1-inch LED-backlit display, 2GB of RAM, and a 1.3MP webcam. DigiTimes also went on to confirm that the Nvidia Ion model has been pushed back to late October / early November - after the release of Windows 7.

The Lenovo IdeaPad S12 has been around for a while, but the Nvidia Ion-equipped one won't be available until Windows 7 comes out. This means that it has been delayed until late October or early November. The IdeaPad S12 with Nvidia's Ion chipset will be available for $549 USD.

It's been on sale for two weeks already and Lenovo's IdeaPad S12 is finally starting to make its way to its buyers. Right now only the black model is shipping in the US and the white and VIA Nano models are tagged with the good ol' "ships in more than 4 weeks" tag. If you purchased an S12 for $500 USD, you should get: a 12.1-inch display with a 1,280 x 800 resolution, an Intel Atom 1.6GHz N270 CPU, GMA 950 graphics, 1GB of RAM, a 160GB HDD, WiFi 802.11 b/g, and a 6-cell battery. It's debatable whether it's a netbook or a notebook, but who cares? It's a laptop.

The IdeaPad S12 has been around since Wednesday, but Lenovo has already added another option to it. The IdeaPad S12 now has a new option for a VIA Nano ULV 2250 CPU with VIA Chrome9 HC3 graphics. This would drop $50 USD off of the original price of $500. This option will give you more speed - in some cases - but it will sacrifice more battery life, than the Atom, in the process. But, don't forget that you can always upgrade the standard 6-cell battery option if you like. So, that's $450 USD for the VIA Nano CPU-equipped IdeaPad S12 with a standard 6-cell battery option. The Lenovo IdeaPad S12 laptop that I covered back in late May is now available. The S12 has: a 12.1-inch WXGA display (1080p capable), an Intel Atom 1.6GHz N270 CPU, Intel's GMA950 chipset, 1GB of DDR2 RAM, up to a 320GB HDD, Ethernet, WiFi, Bluetooth, 3 USB 2.0 slots, an ExpressCard slot, a 4-in-1 card reader, VGA / HDMI outputs, and an optional 6-cell battery, which is definitely worth the extra money. This IdeaPad also has a full-sized keyboard and will have a Nvidia Ion chipset option in September. It is now available and it has a base price of $499 USD. Warning, this will be a fairly lengthy blog post, seeing how I have to talk about 4 new Lenovo products.

What you see above is the Lenovo S12 netbook which switches it up a bit. The S12 reportedly has: a 12.1-inch WUXGA (1,280 x 800 resolution) LED-backlit display, a full-sized keyboard, 1GB of RAM, Intel's Atom 1.6GHz N270 CPU, your choice of 160 / 250 / 320GB HDDs, a 6-cell battery option, an Ethernet port, WiFi, Bluetooth, 3 USB 2.0 sockets, an ExpressCard slot, a 4-in-1 card reader, and VGA / HDMI outputs. Thankfully, if will be running Windows XP and is the world's first netbook with Nvidia's Ion chipset, which should create some hype. The said netbook is capable of playing 1080p video playback and will be available next month for $449 USD.



Next up on the list is the IdeaPad U350 (pictured above) and it's barely a notebook with its 13.3-inch LED-backlit display with a 1,366 x 768 resolution. Other specs for this laptop include: up to 500GB of HDD storage, up to 8GB of DDR3 RAM, your choice of a 1.2GHz Celeron 723 or 1.3GHz SU2700 or 1.4GHz Core 2 Solo SU3500, GMA 4500M / 4500 MHD graphics, an integrated 1.3MP webcam, a multi-touch trackpad, and an optional 8-cell battery, which supposedly lasts 10 hours. It will run on Windows Vista, but I suggest just using the Windows 7 Beta to lengthen the battery life.

The fairly uninteresting G550 is next with its business targeted audience. The G550 has: a 15.6-inch display, WiFi, Bluetooth, a DVD burner, 4GB of DDR3 RAM, up to 320GB of HDD storage, a Core 2 Duo CPU, your choice of GMA X4500 or GeForce G105M graphics, HDMI output, and a 6-cell battery that is said to last 5 hours.

Last, but not least, is a low end all-in-one PC. It has: a 20-inch display, Intel's Atom 230 CPU, up to just 2GB of DDR2 RAM, integrated Intel graphics, a 160GB HDD (up to 640GB), an Ethernet port, WiFi, a 1.3MP webcam, FireWire, 6 USB 2.0 slots, and a 6-in-1 multicard reader. This low-end IdeaCentre C300 will start at a low $449 USD price tag, so it's good for starters.
