Boost Mobile To Launch the BlackBerry Style 9670

Labels: , , , ,

Boost Mobile looks like they're prepping to add a BlackBerry to their line-up. Sadly, it's nothing new since it's just the BlackBerry Style 9670 which hit the market months ago. Rumour has it that it'll cost $199.99 contract-free but you could find it for as much as $279. The flip phone features a QWERTY keyboard, a microSD card slot, WiFi b/g/n / Bluetooth 2.1 support, a 5MP AF camera with an LED flash, and OS 6.0.

BlackBerry Website Hints That Alltel May Be Getting the Style 9670 Too

Labels: , , , ,

It looks like another carrier in the US may be planning to launch the BlackBerry Style 9670 in the future. If you take a look at the image above taken from BlackBerry's site you'll see that you're actually able to download the software for said handset. Nothing else is signalling the launch of this device, but I have a feeling that it'll eventually hit the carrier soon.

MTS has just released the BlackBerry Style 9670 for $99 if you have access to them in Canada. Of course, at that price you'll be tied down to a lengthy 3-year contract. Other price points are $199.99 on a 2-year contract and $424.99 on a 1-year contract. The smartphone itself has a flip design with a full QWERTY keyboard, a microSD card slot, WiFi / Bluetooth support, a 5MP AF camera with an LED flash, an optical trackpad, and BB OS 6.0 with the new WebKit browser. Bell Releases the BlackBerry Style 9670 For $49.95 On a 3-Year

Labels: , , , , ,

Right on cue, Bell in Canada has just released the BlackBerry Style 9670 from RIM. Unfortunately, this is still packing CDMA connectivity so you won't be able to take advantage of the carrier's HSPA+ network. The handset itself features a 2-inch external display, a 2.7-inch internal display, a QWERTY keyboard, a 5MP AF camera with an LED flash, WiFi / Bluetooth support, GPS, a microSD card slot, and OS 6.0 with the WebKit browser.

This is available on Bell for $49.95 on a 3-year contract, $349.95 on a 2-year contract, $374.95 on a 1-year contract, and $399.95 contract-free. The 3-year price seems decent but the others are just outrageous for something like this.

Bell Set To Release the BlackBerry Style 9670 On December 9th

Labels: , , , ,

Bell looks like they're just about ready to release the CDMA BlackBerry Style 9670. This unique flip phone from RIM will still give you BBM, which is just about the only reason to get a BlackBerry at the moment. It'll be available starting on December 9th and was actually supposed to launch on November 23rd. This will be available on the carrier for $49.95 on a 3-year contract, $349.95 on a 2-year contract, $374.95 on a 1-year contract, and $399.95 contract-free. Mobile Syrup points out that the 3-year contract price is $30 less than what Telus is offering it for.

Thankfully, this handset ships with OS 6.0 with the WebKit browser out of the box. Other specs include an external / internal display, a 5MP AF camera with an LED flash, WiFi / Bluetooth support, GPS, and a microSD card slot.

Telus Releases the BlackBerry Style 9670 For $399 Contract-Free

Labels: , , , , ,

Coming from Mobile Syrup's tipster is word that Telus has just become the first carrier in Canada to release the BlackBerry Style 9670 smartphone. Sadly, this is because the handset runs on their old school CDMA network so you won't be able to take advantage of the carrier's better and faster HSPA+ network. Specs include an external and internal display, a 5MP AF camera with a flash, WiFi support, a 3.5mm headphone jack, a microSD card slot (8GB in the box), and OS 5.0 (OS 6.0 sometime in the future).

This is reportedly available right now for $79.99 on a 3-year contract, $229.99 on a 2-year contract, $349.99 on a 1-year contract, and $399.99 contract-free. It seems a bit expensive for this one in my honest opinion.

Telus Stores Get Their BlackBerry Style 9670 Dummy Units

Labels: , , , ,

The first dummy unit of the BlackBerry Style 9670 smartphone has just shown up in Canada. This is a picture of that dummy unit and this one's the Telus model. This is a unique design for RIM and it's definitely targeting the teens. This flip phone from RIM features an external QVGA display, an internal display, a microSD card slot, WiFi b/g/n / Bluetooth support, a 5MP AF camera with an LED flash, aGPS, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and OS 6.0 with the Webkit browser. Bell Getting the Red BlackBerry Torch and the BlackBerry Style (9670) On Nov. 23rd

Labels: , , , , , ,

Coming from Berry Review, is word on two upcoming RIM smartphones coming North of the border. The leaked image above says that the red BlackBerry Torch and the BlackBerry Style (9670) will be hitting Bell in Canada on November 23rd - after shipping to stores on November 15th. Both smartphones are launching on the same day so if you like the different colour or the new "style" then you should wait for them. The Torch will be available for $179.95 on a 3-year contract while the Style will cost you $399.95 contract-free. The Style will be shipping with a 8GB microSD card in the box, which is a bit more good news.

I guess this just about confirms that the white Torch should be exclusively hitting Rogers.

BlackBerry 9670 Style Hits the FCC?

Labels: , , , ,

Another RIM smartphone has just been spotted at the FCC by Engadget. This time it would appear to be the BlackBerry 9670 Style since it appears to have a huge hinge at the top - remember this one's a flip phone. Inside you can hopefully expect to find WiFi b/g/n support along with dual-band CDMA connectivity. Remember that RIM is holding their Developer Conference next week so maybe it'll be announced there.

Bell and Telus To Get the BlackBerry 9670 "Style" In November?

Labels: , , , , , ,

There's a new rumour going around that has started thanks to Mobile Syrup. One of their tipsters has just mentioned that the BlackBerry 9670 Style flip smartphone could be hitting Bell and Telus' CDMA networks sometime in the first week of November. While this is great news it's pretty sad to see that this smartphone will have CDMA connectivity instead of the faster HSPA.

Anyways, the 9670 Style smartphone features a QWERTY keyboard, a 5MP AF camera with an LED flash, WiFi / Bluetooth support, a microSD card slot, and BB OS 6.0.

BlackBerry 9670 Flip Phone To Be Called the BlackBerry Style?

Labels: , ,

A RIM touchscreen slider, that's the BlackBerry Torch, but we already know about the BB 9670 flip smartphone which doesn't have a name yet. Apparently, this one will get its own naming and CrackBerry has mentioned that it will be called the BlackBerry Style. I think the name is a bit girly but, of course, some guys will still go out to get them. I also think that it's an awkward name but oh well.

BlackBerry 9670 Flip Phone Also Hitting Sprint In a Few Months

Labels: , , , ,

It's been a while since we've heard anything about the BlackBerry 9670 flip phone smartphone from RIM but it looks like Verizon and US Cellular won't be the only two carriers launching it in the USA. Apparently, the smartphone is also headed to Sprint in the next couple of months and Boy Genius' sources have reportedly mentioned that they're actually testing out Sprint-branded BB 9670's already. Hopefully these leak again before the release date - with the real Sprint-branding, of course.

US Cellular Launching the BlackBerry 9670 Flip Smartphone Later This Year

Labels: , , , ,

Although they didn't give the BlackBerry smartphone a name, US Cellular has just announced that they'll be launching the BlackBerry 9670 later this year. More specifically, they said that they'll be launching "a BlackBerry flip smartphone with a full QWERTY keyboard. Obviously, that's a good enough hint because it can't be the Pearl Flip with its SureType QWERTY keyboard. Great news for those folks!

U.S. Cellular Answers the Call for Cutting-Edge Phones

New phones launching through end of 2010 will include four Android devices
CHICAGO, June 24 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- U.S. Cellular's customers have come to expect a reliable network, customer service and innovative programs like Overage Protection and Battery Swap, and now the wireless carrier is unveiling a wave of cutting-edge devices that will join its smartphone lineup this year.
U.S. Cellular is launching four phones in 2010 that run on the Android operating system, beginning with the release of the Samsung Acclaim on July 9 and the HTC Desire, with a vibrant 3.7-inch touch screen, 1 GHz Snapdragon processor, 5 megapixel camera and Wi-Fi, in early August. Another highly-anticipated Samsung device and an LG device with a large touch screen and slide-out, ergonomically-designed QWERTY keyboard, will be in stores in October.
"We're excited about everything these Android-powered devices will bring to our customers," said Edward Perez, vice president of marketing and sales operations for U.S. Cellular. "They give customers quick and easy access to thousands of applications, so each device can be completely unique and mirror their personal tastes and lifestyles. The phones will be a great complement to the popular BlackBerry® and Windows Mobile® devices that already anchor our smartphone line."
The Acclaim is exclusive to U.S. Cellular customers. It has a slide-out QWERTY keyboard with a 3.2-inch touch screen, 3 megapixel camera and Wi-Fi.
All of U.S. Cellular's phones running on Android give customers access to popular Google applications and will be pre-loaded with U.S. Cellular applications such as My Contacts Backup, City ID, Tone Room Deluxe and Your Navigator Deluxe. Customers can tap into the Android Market, a rapidly-growing catalog of more than 70,000 applications, most of which are free, to transform their phone into a lifestyle device.
The carrier will release the BlackBerry Bold in early August and later this year it will offer a BlackBerry flip smartphone with a full QWERTY keyboard. U.S. Cellular is also releasing new touch screen devices like the LG Banter Touch featuring a 3-inch touch display and side-sliding QWERTY keyboard.
Customers who use their phones primarily for talking and texting also have a few new options coming their way: a dark purple QWERTY Motorola device with a unique square shape and a side-sliding QWERTY device from Samsung with a 2 megapixel camera designed for quick and easy texting.
"We've always believed that our customers deserve a wide selection of phones that fit their individual needs," said Perez. "We hope our customers are as excited as we are about what we have coming up between now and the end of the year."
