ICD Gemini Tablet Prototype Gets Tested Out, Still Needs Work; Could Launch In August

Labels: , , ,

We heard about the ICD Gemini tablet yesterday and someone has already got their hands on a prototype device. Apparently, this tablet is looking to launch in August of this year if everything works out. Right now only a few things are working properly since it's extremely buggy but the browser is "blistering fast." ICD has to work on getting the standard Android apps to work properly but that could also be the developer's fault. ICD is reportedly already in talks with a couple of different carriers, but we already know that T-Mobile UK is on-board with their larger 15-inch ICD Vega tablet.

11.2-Inch ICD Gemini Tablet Packs Tegra 2, Multitouch, and Android; Strong iPad Competitor

Labels: , , , , , ,

Well, well, well. Another iPad competitor has just entered the race and it's coming from ICD. Dubbed the Gemini, this tablet gives the iPad a run for its money - on paper, at least. This tablet comes packed with an 11.2-inch LCD touchscreen display with a 1,366 x 768 resolution, a 1GHz Tegra 2 SOC, 3G (with voice calls), 512MB of DDR RAM, up to a 32GB SSD, an SD card slot, an FM radio, GPS support, WiFi b/g/n, Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR, a microUSB port, audio jacks, a 5MP camera on the back with a 2MP camera on the front, stereo speakers, a USB port, and a 40Wh user-replaceable battery.

Most of those specs already beat the iPad, but it even throws in Android as an OS and it's got a multitouch display that'll be available in either capacitive or resistive. Oh yeah, don't forget that there's Flash support in this bad boy. With that chipset you'll easily be man-handling 1080p content. Check out the spec sheet comparison below.Unfortunately, the price wasn't mentioned, but let's hope it's around $600.

Nvidia Tegra 2 Possibly Delayed, Affects Notion Ink, Compal, and ICD Tablets

Labels: , , , , , , ,

Bad news for those of you waiting for a tablet or anything for that matter with Nvidia's Tegra 2 chipset. Apparently, it's being delayed - even though Nvidia says everything is "on track." This is reportedly affecting products from Notion Ink [Adam tablet], Compal [tablet], and even ICD [Ultra tablet]. Compal's product has apparently been pushed to September (from June) and ICD's tablet will be launching in October. The problem is said to be with stability as well as the Flash support.

ICD Ultra Tablet Spotted In India As the EAFT Magic Tile

Labels: , , , , , ,

The ICD Ultra tablet has just been spotted in the wild (India) and is being demoed as the EAFT Magic Tile. It's packing a 7-inch glossy touchscreen display with a 1,024 x 600 resolution, a 1.3MP webcam, 1080p capabilities, optional 3G, Bluetooth, an HDMI output, a USB port, a 3MP camera on the back, and a battery life that should last 8 hours. Of course, Android is on board and it's packing 512MB of DDR2 RAM along with a Tegra 2 chip. This tablet is pretty impressive, but it's lacking one big thing: WiFi. The price wasn't mentioned so let's hope it'll be something that most people can afford.

Verizon is still testing out the tablet themselves and they also expect 25 to 30 4G markets by the end of this year. The price and availability hasn't been mentioned, but we're hoping that it'll be by the end of this year.

ICD's 15-Inch Android Tablet Runs On Nvidia Tegra Graphics, Headed To T-Mobile UK

Labels: , , , , , ,

I'm sure you know about ICD's tablet running Nvidia's Tegra. Well, we now know that it's headed to T-Mobile UK as the Vega. The price is still TBA, but we do know that this tablet is capable of 1080p HD video playback, thanks to Tegra, and it runs the Android OS. I'm pretty sure it has a stand on the back, considering the photo above. We don't know the exact date it'll launch, but it should be by the end of the year.
