A new dual-core Intel Atom N550 packing netbook is now shipping in the US and it's the Acer Aspire One D255. We've heard about this one before because this is the netbook that has been famous for dual-booting the Android and Windows XP. Unfortunately, this netbook does not do that; instead it's running Windows 7 Starter Edition. Other specs include a 250GB HDD, a 10.1-inch display with a 1,024 x 600 resolution, 1GB of DDR3 RAM, and a 6-cell battery. They've managed to pack all of that into a 2.8-pound body. It's going for $399 so check it out on HSN.

Acer is just about to release their latest netbook, the Aspire One D255. This one sets itself apart from most netbooks out there by dual-booting the Android OS and Windows XP. Unlike the rumour we heard in early July, the Aspire One D255 netbook doesn't feature a dual-core Intel Atom N550 CPU. Instead, Acer has decided to stick with the industry standard Intel Atom N450 1.66GHz CPU. Other specs include: 1GB of DDR2 RAM, a 160GB HDD, and a 3-cell battery (optional 6-cell). This netbook will cost you NT$11,900 (around $375 USD) when it hits the shelves.

Another Acer Aspire One netbook is on the way and it should take the D255 moniker. Engadget points out that the D255 netbook should be extremely identical to the D260 but inside you'll find an Intel Atom N550 which is a 1.5GHz dual-core CPU. This could be dual-booting Windows 7 and Android similar to the D260 but that's unknown right now. The price and release date is still TBA so look out for it and the oh-so-important complete spec sheet in the future.
