Toshiba NB500 and NB520 Netbooks Get Unveiled, Latter Has Harmon/Kardon Speakers

Labels: , , , , ,

Toshiba has just officially introduced two netbooks that you might be interested in. They both feature just about the same spec sheet with just one difference that I'll get to later (or that you already know because you read the title). Both the NB500 and NB520 netbooks sport a 10.1-inch LED-backlit display (1,024 x 600 resolution), 2GB of DDR3 RAM, a 250GB HDD, a dual-core Intel Atom N550 1.5GHz CPU, Bluetooth / WiFi support, an SD card reader, VGA output, three USB 2.0 ports, optional 3G connectivity, and a 6-cell battery that will reportedly last for 10 hours. The difference between the two is that the NB520 model features Harmon/Kardon speakers (seen above).

The NB500 will be hitting Taipei for the equivalent of $450 when it's available on December 4th but everyone else will have to wait until Q1 2011 after it gets another unveiling at CES 2011. Price for the NB520 is said to be around $600 so I don't think they'll sell a lot. Honestly, who still wants a netbook at this point?
