Dell and Samsung Place Large Order For 11.6-Inch Displays

Labels: , , ,

According to the Display Taiwan 2009 tradeshow, Dell and Samsung have just ordered a large amount of 11.6-inch displays. Both companies will probably use them for an upcoming netbook. Dell will probably utilize this display in their Inspiron Mini 11. Samsung, on the other hand, have yet to reveal a future 11.6-inch netbook - to my knowledge. The Mini 11 shouldn't be too far off, but it does have a Q3 release date.

Palm Eos "Pixie" May Get Pushed Back

Labels: , ,

The Palm Eos "Pixie" is set for a release by the end of the year - specifically Q3 - according to earlier reports. Well, rumour has it that Palm may not be releasing the Palm Eos on the aforementioned date, because they want to have a "better visibility" on how well the Pre is selling. This is probably due to the fact that they haven't unleashed Palm Pre's 2nd launch because of the shortages for the first launch. Palm will probably wait it out to see how well their 2nd launch goes. The 2nd launch will tell them if they are in demand or not. This means that the Palm Eos could be pushed back, but we'll just have to see what happens in the slightly near future.

Samsung B7610 Louvre Surfaces

Labels: ,

The Samsung B7610 Louvre has just surfaced with a spec sheet and a picture for the Windows Mobile fans out there. It looks like a decent-looking phone, so how is its spec sheet? It's actually pretty amazing. The B7610 Louvre manages to pack in: a 3.5-inch WVGA AMOLED touchscreen display, quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE and 7.2Mbps UMTS/HSDPA, a 5MP camera, 1GB of ROM, WiFi, aGPS, Bluetooth 2.0, a microSD slot, FM tuner, miniUSB connectivity, and, obviously, an accelerometer.

This Windows Mobile 6.1 handset may or may not be upgradeable to WinMo 6.5, so it's a sketchy buy for now. The pricing and availability for this handset are still unknown, but the source mentioned that it could be launched next month (July) for €250 ($351 USD) to €500 ($702 USD).

MSI X-Slim X600 Gets Official Spec Sheet

Labels: , ,

The MSI X-Slim X600 has been creeping around for a while and has already been pegged to utilize Intel's new ULV CPUs. But today, I got the full spec sheet for you. The X600 has: a 15.6-inch display with a 1,366 x 768 resolution (720p capable), up to 4GB of RAM, up to a 500GB HDD, up to a 1.4GHz Intel Core 2 Solo SU3500 CPU, and ATI's Radeon Mobility HD 4330 graphics. The CPU really does have a range of ULV CPUs to choose from, so you're not stuck with the aforementioned one. Keep in mind though, they don't get any faster than the SU3500 for this notebook.

The X-Slim X600 lives up to its name by being just 25mm thick. The X600 also has other features, such as: a VGA / HDMI out, 3 USB 2.0 slots, four speakers, Ethernet, WiFi, Bluetooth, and a 6-cell battery - that is good enough for who knows how long. The MSI X-Slim X600 will launch later this month for €799 ($1,123 USD) to €949 ($1,334 USD).
