Labels: , , , , ,

We've seen Moblin 2.1 demoed already and now we're hearing that there'll be a couple other improvements in 2.1 as well. The OS is said to have more hardware support, 3G / Bluetooth support, and support for a higher resolution. Of course, you'll also be getting more languages, Moblin Garage, and Application Installer. Are you excited or are you waiting for Chrome OS?

Intel Shows Off Moblin 2.1 At IDF, Perfect For Multi-Tasking On Mobile Phones

Labels: , , , , , ,

Like we heard last week, Intel has just shown off Moblin v2 - more specifically Moblin 2.1. The good news here is that this new OS is capable of running on most mobile devices, including phones. Engadget got a chance to look at Moblin 2.1 on an unnamed Compal MID and an Acer netbook. But, they weren't allowed to touch it so that definitely sucks. I guess it was just a preview then.

The Moblin OS will be capable of running on mobile phones and will have social-integration and a "panels-based navigation system" which will allow you to run multiple applications at once. Enjoy two more shots of the new Moblin below.

According to Intel's Open Source Technology director, Imad Sousou, we could see a netbook running Moblin v2 as early as this month at IDF 2009. We don't know when this is going to be released, but if version 2 is on the way then why not just wait for it.

In related news, Asus will be launching an Eee PC with Moblin next month (October).
