I'm sure you've been keeping a close eye on this camera. The Nikon Coolpix S1000pj that has a built-in projector is now shipping from a couple of retailers. Unfortunately, it looks like Amazon has these on back-order for $429 USD until September 23rd. Earlier this month, we heard about a couple of new Nikon cameras, the S1000pj, the S70, and the S570. The S1000pj has the projector that can display a 40-inch image, the S70 has a 3.5-inch OLED multi-touchscreen display, and the S570 has a 12MP sensor. Unfortunately, all of these cameras are facing delays. The S70 and S570 are expected to launch on September 19th and the S1000pj is expected to launch on October 23. Apparently, the S1000pj is being delayed a whole month because of the overwhelming demand. Anyways, just wait around for it, it'll be here before you know it.

The Coolpix SP1000pj is above and to the left. It has: a 12.1MP sensor and, interestingly enough, a projector at the front that is able to display a 40-inch image. Pretty amazing if you ask me. The camera on the right side above is the Nikon S570. The Nikon Coolpix S570 has: a 12MP sensor, a 5x Nikkor lens and will be available in four colours when it launches: red, black, pink, and blue. It will be available in September for $199 USD. Below and to the right is the Nikon Coolpix S640 and it has: a 12.2MP sensor, 5x optical zoom, and will support full resolution at 6400 ISO. This will also be available in three colours this September for around $249 USD. The black camera below is the Nikon Coolpix S70 that has: a 3.5-inch OLED touchscreen display, a 12.1MP sensor, a 5x optical zoom with electronic VR, and a 6400 ISO. No price and release date are available for this camera though.

The Nikon D5000 DSLR looks like it is now available for pre-order on Amazon for $850 USD (body with the kit-lens). The D5000 DSLR will also be hitting Best Buy on April 24, which is later this week.

The Nikon D5000 DSLR looks like it will be the next big thing. Being at a sub-$1000 price point ($850 USD, to be exact), it's sure to pack a punch or two. The D5000 will be a 12.3MP shooter capable of shooting 720p video (24 fps), 4 fps stills, and has a 2.7-inch swivel LCD screen. This is actually a camera I'm interested in, I think it has really good specs for the price. I'm just waiting for DSLRs to be equipped with WiFi although that might add on a couple more dollars and we'll still have to wait a while for that to become a reality. WiFi is slowly creeping to cameras though, so I hope it gets widespread. Anyways, the Nikon D5000 looks to be a good camera for the price point. As of right now, there's no exact availability, so I'll have that information for you when it is available.
