Labels: , , ,

Update: Well, it looks the paid apps have just been pulled because there is a bug that is allowing you to get the apps for free. We have no word on when the paid apps will be available again, but I'm sure Palm's team is hard at work.

New Palm App Catalog Pictured, Rollout Imminent

Labels: , , ,

What you see above could be the first look at the revamped Palm App Catalog. There's not much to say here, because Engadget Mobile summed it up best. By the way, this new App Catalog should be rolling out to users very soon, since Palm did mentioned a "mid-September" release date for this.

Major new features include the aforementioned support for credit card payments, some sort of tag cloud that appears to show up when searching, and integrated app management, while many other screens have been gently tweaked from the early release Pre owners are using today.

Palm has just released 10 new apps on their App Catalog - after rejecting their first app this morning. The new apps include: iLike, AccuRadio, Forbes magazine, Simple Bible, Currency Converter, 420 Wallpaper, Video Poker, Checker, Lights Out, and gDial Pro, which is a 3rd party Google Voice app.

Unlike the iPhone, Palm now has an app for Google Voice. "The program lets you access Google Voice's full feature set (including a dialer), and no one seems very bothered by it." If you have a Pre, you should download and try it out now!

Lucky Palm Pre Owner Gets WebOS 1.2, Spills Some Details

Labels: , , , ,

Just read what this lucky guy said below.

You know, sometimes if you just study hard, keep your nose clean, and stay away from the pirate cable TV business, fate will do you a solid. For instance, check this post by PreCentral forum member go4craig. Today, the hapless youngster innocently applied webOS Doctor in a bid to reset his phone back to factory and wouldn't ya know it? When all was said and done, the phone's operating system was upgraded to webOS 1.2. And what's more, the maneuver has been repeated successfully by a handful of other forum members.

Clearly, this guy looks like he just got WebOS version 1.2 on his Pre. The best part is that he took some screenshots of the new OS. It looks like there will be paid Apps for the Palm Pre in the near future, which is shown in the top right "Add Credit Card" picture. It also looks like there are also some GPS service changes, little tweaks, and "much improved (zoom animation)." Unfortunately, the leak has been "pluggged" in the meantime, but let's hope we get the official release soon.
