Next iPhone Could Have a "Curved Cover Glass", Whatever That Is

Labels: , , ,

Coming from Digitimes is word that Apple could be planning to make a "curved cover glass" for the next iPhone. It's unknown exactly what they're talking about right now but maybe it'll be something similar to the Contour Display found on the Google Nexus S that Samsung made. Apparently, Apple has bought 200 - 300 glass cutting machines to use for it. We'll just have to wait and see what Apple has in store for us.

Apple buying the glass cutting machines has got this rumor, of curve glass implementation in contrast with the conventional metal finishing. The possible advantages for the much awaited iphone 5 is that it might be non-conductive and would have smooth surface to hold which will have a feature of acquiring perfect reception of the signals. However, having glass on the edges might be prone to the clumsy mistakes and thus must be handled with most care.

Thanks for the update on this curved glass screen of the iphone 5! I was wondering the reason behind Apple going for this glass finish for its device. After reading this post I found my doubts getting cleared.
