Inbrics Reveals AMOLED MID With a QWERTY Keyboard, Runs Android

Labels: , , ,

Inbrics, a pretty much unknown company, has just revealed their latest handset at CES 2010. This is another MID, that looks like it could double as a phone. The Inbrics MID 1 has: an AMOLED touchscreen display, a slide-out QWERTY keyboard, an ARM Cortex A8 CPU, WiFi / GPS / Bluetooth support, optiona 3G / WiMAX, 16GB of internal storage, a microSD card slot, a 3MP camera on the back, a front-facing VGA camera, and the Android OS. I assume this is the same MID we saw last November, so that means that it'll be hitting the US sometime this year - if everything goes according to plan.

Update: According to Engadget, this is actually the thinnest Android slider to-date - beating out the Motorola DROID / Milestone - at just half an inch thick (about 12.7mm I assume). They mentioned that the keyboard is actually really easy to type on (photo of it below). Since the CPU is clocked at 800MHz it can pump out 720p video easily. There's a video at the link below if you're interested. This MID / smartphone should be set for a March release date in the US.

"About Half" Of LG Smartphones To Run On Android OS This Year

Labels: , , , ,

Even though LG is really dedicated to Microsoft's Windows Mobile they're not going to turn their back on Google's Android OS just yet. LG's CEO, Nam Yong, has just mentioned that "about half" of their smartphones in 2010 will be running on Android (GT540 running Android above). It probably won't be exactly half, but it should be pretty close. Looks like LG doesn't have plans on making their own OS like their rivals, Samsung.

Verizon Inventory Systems Says BlackBerry Tour 9650 Dummy Units Are Coming Soon

Labels: , , , ,

Ooh, what's this? More BlackBerry Tour 9650 news. This time it's been spotted in Verizon's inventory systems. We don't know when it'll be available, but hopefully this is a hint that it'll be soon. Obviously this'll be the successor to the first Tour but this time it'll have WiFi and an optical trackpad. It's also headed to Sprint.
