Verizon's Motorola DROID X Gets Official, Coming On July 15th For $199.99

Labels: , , , , , ,

Now that the DROID Eris is no longer on Verizon, they have decided that today would be a big day. No, we're not talking about the iPhone 4 hitting customers a bit early, we're talking about the Motorola DROID X getting official! Verizon will be launching the DROID X on July 15th for $199.99 on a 2-year contract after a $100 mail-in rebate. The specs are exactly what we thought they were and it'll be available with Android 2.1 (with an updated and all-new custom UI) at launch. Phandroid points out that it'll be getting an update to Android 2.2 "Froyo" later this Summer. The most important specs are: the 4.3-inch WVGA (480 x 854 resolution) display, an HDMI port, an 8MP AF camera with 720p HD video recording capabilities, a TI OMAP 3640 1GHz CPU, 8GB of internal storage, a microSD card slot, a 9.9mm thin body, and a 1,540mAh battery. Below the picture is the full spec sheet, courtesy of Unwired View if that's what you want.

Update: Phandroid points out that, like AT&T and Apple, Verizon will be offering the DROID X to you if your contract ends anytime in 2010. That should boost sales a bit more.

Update: Engadget has just gotten their official hands on with this smartphone. They'll progressively be pushing out their thoughts on this huge smartphone, so check it out!
