Kyocera Announces Their First Android Handset, the Zio M6000

Labels: , , ,

We knew that Kyocera was working on an Android handset since last year and they've finally announced it. The handset, named the Zio M6000, will feature a 3.5-inch WVGA (800 x 480) touchscreen display, a 3.2MP camera, WiFi, a 3.5mm headphone jack, Stereo Bluetooth, 256MB of internal storage, a microSD card slot, and a custom UI. Kyocera didn't mention what version of Android this handset will be running so we'll have to wait for that. The spec sheet is pretty good but it's nothing mind-blasting. This handset features CDMA / EV-DO Rev. A connectivity so it could get launched on Cricket, MetroPCS, Sprint, or Verizon in the US. The launch is set for Q2.

Update: According to Phandroid, Kyocera is looking to launch this handset for $169 to $216 unlocked. That's pretty sweet!

Update: According to Phandroid (again), this handset is likely headed to Cricket in the US this Summer.
