Acer's Veriton X270 Business Desktop PCs

Labels: , ,

This is designed for your office at work, hence the compact design. It could also fill some schools; I know my school has PCs like these. The Acer Veriton X270 has a fair spec sheet, including: an Intel Core 2 Duo processor, the Nvidia GeFore 7100 graphics card, up to 4GB of DDR2 RAM, a 500GB HDD, a DVD writer, 5.1-channel audio, and gigabit Ethernet. The Veriton X270 runs on Windows Vista Business and is available today in North America for a base price of just $399 USD.

Dell Precision T7500 Has 192GB, Want To Know The Price?

Labels: , ,

$40,800 USD. Yes, the Dell Precision T7500 Workstation will give you 192GB of RAM for a nice, shiny price tag of $40,800. Keep in mind that this price tag only takes into account the RAM. The T7500 has 12 RAM slots and if you buy a 16GB 1333MHz RAM stick for each slot (at $3,400 a piece), it will come out to $40,800 USD. Vista currently only supports 128GB, so for now it's fairly pointless to have 192GB of RAM. Maybe Windows 7 will support that much RAM though, so don't let it discourage you. $40,800 USD. Are you willing to spend $40,800 USD for 192GB of RAM?

LG GM630 TV Phone Coming To North and South America?

Labels:

That's what the buzz is about. TV phones aren't new in Asia, but they are very rarely seen in North America (at least in Canada). The fat-looking LG GM630 TV phone looks like it's an upgraded version of LG's HB620T TV phone. They decided to chop off the antenna, which gives it a more futuristic look. It still looks ugly to me, especially when it is closed (see picture). Besides having the TV option, the specs aren't too great. It manages to have: Bluetooth, an FM radio, a 2MP camera, a microSD slot, and GSM / GPRS / EDGE. It could be making its way to us over here so be on the lookout for it, that is, if you're interested in watching TV on such a small screen.

CEO Says Tesla Model S Is Not Expensive

Labels: ,

We already know that the Tesla Model S looks extremely sexy and while Tesla's CEO may be biased, he is, in fact, correct. The Model S will be retailing for $50,000 USD - after a $7,500 USD federal tax credit. It may seem kind of expensive at first but Tesla CEO, Elon Musk, says that being all-electric will save you money in the end. For the majority of the time, gas prices are getting more and more expensive. It's not unrealistic to say that gas prices could soon be $4 USD / gallon in the near future. Even at $1 USD / gallon, it costs around $5 USD to drive 230 miles. With the average car going through a lot [!!] of miles in its lifetime, in the end the Tesla Model S will save you money. Don't forget that it's damn sexy and you get the exquisite touchscreen console inside. This sure is a beauty.

TealOS Will Be Taken Down On March 30

Labels: , , ,

TealOS gives your old Palm a breath of fresh air, implementing some of the new WebOS elements into it. But, the distributer has just announced that "at Palm's request," they have to stop selling TealOS on March 30. That gives you 3 days to earn $14.95 USD and buy it. It will be sad to see it go, but the Pre will be around soon so it's okay.

NEC To Become a Japan Exclusive

Labels: , ,

NEC is not a widely known PC company, but it doesn't really matter because they are going to stop selling their PCs anywhere outside of Japan soon. For the South East Asian countries, they will be shutting production and sales "as early as this July." NEC is really going downhill; they are expecting a $3 billion loss this current fiscal year. They sold 3 million PCs last year; meanwhile, 2.5 million of those PCs sold in Japan. NEC is planning on laying off 20,000 workers soon, thanks economic crisis. On a side note, I've never had a job before.

Twittering From Your Car Via OnStar

Labels: ,

You may soon be able to send Tweets from your car. If your car has OnStar, you may be in luck in the near future. Andru Edwards at Gear Live has, apparently, "discovered the potential future." This will work both ways: sending your own tweets and OnStar may even be able to read your tweets to you. Make sure not to say too much though because you could go over the 140-character limiting without even knowing. I'll update you whether or not OnStar will implement a Twitter feature in the near future. Since I don't have a car, I'll have to stick to TweetDeck for my Tweeting needs.

End Of The Rainbow Really Doesn't Have a Pot Of Gold

Labels: , , , ,

For those people who chase the end of the rainbow, this is a sad, sad day for you. The end of the rainbow clearly does not have a pot of gold. This picture was taken by an iPhone, dubbed the "Jesus phone" for a reason. I can't believe there's no pot of gold at the end of the rainbow, my childhood is now incomplete.

By now, you must've seen Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children, but if you haven't just come to my house and we'll watch it. Anyways, here's a 4-minute trailer on Advent Children that has some extended scenes, a preview of Denzel's anime (small boy in Advent Children), and also a preview to the Final Fantasy XIII demo. If you just want to see the Final Fantasy XIII stuff, just go to the end. I watched the whole thing though; I can't wait to watch the extended scenes!

Dell Latitude 2100 Netbook Leaked

Labels: , ,

Dell aims their new Latitudes at young kids. This is evident when you take a look at the colour names: School Bus Orange (looks yellow to me), Blue Ribbon, Red Apple, and Blackboard Black. Codenamed 'Welch', the Latitude 2100 will have a 10-inch display and will be priced under $600 USD. It will have the N270 Intel Atom (1.6GHz), up to 2GB of RAM, three USB 2.0 ports, gigabit Ethernet, Bluetooth, an SD / MMC slot, and has an HDD - of unknown storage - but you can swap it for an optional SSD if you like. Dell also gives you the option of choosing between a 3 and a 6-cell battery and you can go for a touchscreen as well. It is expected to be released by May of this year, just in time for the American back-to-school season.

PC vs Mac Ad I: Gets Dissected

Labels: , , , , , , ,

Watch the clip below and then scroll back up to read the rest of the post. So, after seeing the newest PC vs Mac commercial, what do you think? According to a post on 9 to 5 Mac, one of the shoppers in the Apple store shown in the video has spoken out and said that she (Lauren) didn't even walk into the Apple store. Surprising? Hell no. It's an ad in favour of a PC, obviously the whole thing is staged. Let's get back to the ad, it clearly takes a shot at Apple's expensive prices. So, this sparked an Apple user, named Mitch. He wrote Gizmodo (I think) and said that he is willing to let Lauren try out his 17-inch Mac laptop, so that she can truly decide whether or not she made the right decision. After Gizmodo wrote Mitch back, he claimed to be 100% serious in letting her try out his Apple PowerBook (no pun intended). Gizmodo is now claiming that they are trying to get in-contact with Lauren to see which one she prefers, the PC or the Mac.

Now this is where I have to interfere. What is so good about an Apple notebook? Basically, it's overpriced. You can get the same specs inside of a Mac notebook in a PC for a much cheaper price - and for a more reliable brand aka Asus or Lenovo. Mac OS X may be better than Vista, but I don't think it will be better than Windows 7. Besides having the "1000 recharge battery" (which HP now has, by the way) and the different OS, what makes Apple's notebooks so amazing? In addition, the Mac OS X is always the last one to receive new games or new software (specifically Google Chrome) because Windows is the standard. If you're trying to "stand out" or be different, have fun wasting all of that money. Please, i'm craving to know why Mac is superior to a PC. Basically, Apple's notebooks are overpriced and don't have any bang for their buck, compared to a PC. Send some of your thoughts my way.

Archos Android-Based MID Gets Somewhat Priced; Has 500GB of Storage

Labels: , , ,

Just yesterday, the Archos' Android-based MID got a release date, which is "early Q3" meaning July. I was not aware of this but Archos has "pledged" to keep all of their future devices under the €500 ($665 USD) mark. Along with the 5-inch full touchscreen and being only 10mm thin, it has 500GB of storage! This huge storage will definitely bump the pricing of the device up, I'm going to take a guess at the price of the device. I'm going with $500 - $550 USD, which is quite expensive. Don't forget that it's just my guess, but you should expect it for less than $665 USD, so that's fair enough. The 500GB storage still amazes me.

Asus Eee PC E1004DN With Optical Drive; Still No Voice Recgonition; And 1008HA Gets Release Date

Labels: , , , , , ,

This morning there was a rumour that there would be an Asus Eee PC with an optical drive. It looks like it is now confirmed with the announcement of the Eee PC E1004DN. Like you, I am also getting confused by all the 100x models, so you're not along. Along with the optical drive, the aforementioned Eee PC will have the Intel Atom 1.66GHz N280 and a 120GB HDD. This netbook should be anywhere in between NT $18,000 to 20,000 ($531 to $590 USD) and will be available in mid-April, next month. The netbook probably will not have the so-called Voice Recognition that Asus plans to implement in their new Eee PCs in the future, so you might want to wait for that. On a side note, the Eee PC 1008HA will be available in May, but the price is still undisclosed.

MyID.is Wants To Be The Standard

Labels: ,

Yes, you read that right. It is going to go head-to-head with OpenID to become the standard of all "Digital Certification." I was going to sign up but got to a small roadblock. While OpenID continues to be free, MyID.is is not. I got through the first portion of it, you have to enter your First Name, Last Name, Username, E-mail, etc. The next portion of it requires your credit card information and has a fee that is "random." Random meaning anywhere between €2 and €5. I don't know why it's "random," shouldn't it be just one base price? My bet is that they're going to take the €5, I mean, why wouldn't they? We'll see how big MyID.is becomes, but I don't think I will ever be signing up for it. Paying for services is just not my kind of thing. Why pay for anything when you can get it free?

Apple Stores Selling The iPhone 3G Without A Contract!

Labels: , , , ,

Here's some good news for you. Apple stores are now selling the iPhone 3G without a contract. You can activate them when and whenever you want. If you like, you can even downgrade the firmware on the phone, so that you can unlock it. The 8GB model is currently on retail for $599 USD while the 16GB model is $699 USD. Apple is deciding to sell their iPhone 3G's without a contract now either because of the birth of the Palm Pre soon or because they are going to announce their new iPhone at or around WWDC this year. It could be a combination of both though.

LG Arena In A New Titan Black Colour

Labels: , ,

The LG Arena will be hitting T-Mobile later this month and they will be receiving a new Titan Black colour. While looking iPhone-esque, it holds its own ground. The black colour of the LG Arena really gives the phone a nice, sleek finish. Keep in mind that the LG Arena has a 3-inch touchscreen and I'm most excited for this new S-Class 3D UI. The LG Arena will hit T-Mobile UK before the end of this month, so it should be available really soon. As far as I know, the black model shouldn't come as an extra fee.
