Samsung Shows Off Largest Flexible OLED Display at SID 2009!

Labels: , , , , ,

OLED technology really gets me excited, especially when they're able to bend around in weird shapes and stuff like that. Luckily, for me, Samsung Mobile Display (SMD) showed off their latest AMOLED prototype at the SID 2009 conference in San Antonio. This is the world's largest flexible OLED display to date measuring in at 6.5-inches, so that's definitely something positive. Several claims are also saying that it's the most flexible OLED display to date. It's only a protoype, but SMD claims that the response time is 1,000 times faster than traditional LCD technology.

SMD expects these flexible displays to be implemented in future watches, cell phones, and also flexible eBook readers (Kindle with OLED displays in the future?). Just in case I haven't told you enough, I'm really excited for OLED technology to get their big break. I'll be there to scoop one up when they're cheap enough.
