Metacritic Terrorism

Labels: , , , , ,

Hilarious news that i just found out. Reading my Google Reader, i just saw one of the funniest things. Apparently, this 'war' started on metacritic.com, regarding Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 gamers. The ongoing war is that 360 fans have been down-ranking Playstation 3 games and Playstation 3 fans have been doing the same towards the Xbox 360's games. On the site, users can view their opinion on each game, review it themselves and they can also rate it out of 10. Bad news for the regular non-fanboy readers, who actually view the opinion of other people. When Killzone 2, a Playstation 3 exclusive title, was able to be reviewed by the fans just moments ago, the 360 fans downranked the game. Right now, it is at a 6.3 / 10. In revenge, the Playstation 3 fans have striked back. Halo Wars, which is an Xbox 360 exclusive, currently has a very, very low rank. A mere 0.8 /10. While i was reading this, i was laughing. But, when i pushed all of the jokes aside, i figured that this is completely immature. It's actually quite sad that this is happening because people go on metacritic.com for a real review because some people actually base buying a game on another person's view of the game. I remember, back in my gamespot.com days, i used to look at a professional and user review / ranking of the game. If people continue doing this, metacritic.com may actually lose readers or views of their site, as a whole. Metacritic probably has to take some serious action soon, maybe [first] deleting all of the 0 / 10 reviews on Halo Wars and other games that have this similar problem. Sucks for Halo Wars though.
