There's a new rumour going around about the launch of the BlackBerry Playbook tablet. Trinidad & Tobago's TSTT's Jay Alvi has mentioned that RIM intends to launch the Playbook in February 2011, which qualifies as early 2011. This tablet should give the others a run for their money, at least, that's how it stands on paper. The Playbook features a 7-inch capacitive touchscreen display with a 1,024 x 600 resolution, a 3MP front-facing camera, a 5MP camera on the back, 1GB of RAM, a dual-core 1GHz CPU, and a new OS made by QNX.
Update: Business Week has actually pointed out that that RIM's Playbook tablet will be hitting the market for less than $500 to challenge the iPad head-on. Of course, that could mean a $499 price tag (unlikely though) so we'll just have to wait and see.
Update: According to The Next Web, RIM plans to ship the Playbook in Q1 in North America and in other regions in the second half of the year. Price is said to be $499.
